I requested a quote from Cell Phones Fix on Yelp for a cracked screen on my Google Pixel 4a. The business replied and said they could fix it in 25 minutes. Sounded great so I drove across town to Lincoln Park. At the store, the person working told me that they did not actually have the right screen for my phone (despite them naming the specific model in their original quote). I was told I could leave the phone; when I asked how long, they told me four days. Buddy, I could get some tinker toys and a glue stick and BUILD myself a new phone in four days. The point is, if you tell someone you have the parts and can do the job in 25 minutes, and then it turns out you don't have the parts and the job will take four days - that's pretty pitiful, and just dishonest. read more

First the good: good quality work and good communication as far as letting me know when the repair would be ready, etc. Apple Watch looks like it did when it was new. Now the not so good: repair came in at $100 over estimate because it wasn't diagnosed properly. After all was said and done, the repair came in at $40 more than other nearby shops for the same repair they ended up doing. Overall happy with the service and I would consider this shop in the future. read more

I requested a quote online for a screen repair and was told that for the make and model of my device it would be $89, which was the most affordable option I could find so I went to this location. I do not live close to this location but went out of my way since the price was low. When I got there, the man that assisted me changed his pricing to $129.99, despite him having previously quoted me $40 lower. He did the shady, "I'll give you a deal" thing since I had in writing that he'd quoted me lower. He wound up charging me $110 and replaced my screen within about 30 minutes. The screen quality was very poor. It was a much heavier and thicker glass than what was previously on my phone and shattered again less than a week after replacement. This guy is a con artist, I'm sure he plays this game with all of his customers. Ultimately, he provides poor, dishonest service. read more

Very happy with the service. The owner was super nice. My son broke his phone at 4pm. I called the shop at 4:30. My sons screen was fixed and we were out the door at 5pm. He also added a screen protector for free. Highly recommend and will go again if needed. read more

After calling several cell phone repair shops in the area, I decided to go with Cell Phones Fix because they gave me the lowest quote to fix my iPhone's cracked screen. Plus, they had great reviews! They opened promptly at 10am on a Saturday and Julian greeted me when I walked in. He looked at my phone and assured me it would take no more than 30 minutes. I brought my iPad Air 2 in this morning and already have it repaired and back home. Fast courteous service. They discovered that this type of iPad needs the lcd and the face replaced if it cracks and called to authorize the work before proceeding. They were extremely competitive in their pricing. Needed a replacement battery for my iPhone 10. I submitted a quote request via Yelp and they replied quickly. They still accept walk-ins (I wasn't sure what the rules would be with COVID), so it was super easy to stop by and drop off my phone. Came back 20 mins later and my phone was ready! $59 for a new battery is absolutely reasonable and way better than spending a ton on a new phone. Friendly service, too! read more

They were pleasant and professional and we exchanged a bit of humor over the phone and in person. Unfortunately, just two weeks later, a noticeable black blob appeared on the new screen near the Dynamic Island. This looks like OLED screen bleed or a defect. The phone has remained in a case with a screen protector the entire time and has not been dropped, bumped, or otherwise mishandled. Given the timing (only 2 weeks after installation) and the specific location of the spot, this issue is almost certainly the result of either a defective replacement screen or a problem during installation (such as trapped dust, adhesive, or pressure damage). It is not consistent with normal use or accidental damage. I offered to bring the phone in so they could inspect it in person, but they declined and immediately dismissed the warranty claim without examination. While I understand repairs aren't perfect, I'm disappointed they are unwilling to stand behind their work and honor the warranty on what is clearly a post-repair defect. I went from a satisfied customer who would have returned and recommended them to someone who can no longer do so. Potential customers should be aware that warranty support may not be reliable here. EDIT: Contrary to the response below the phone was never physically inspected. Rather, the response was based on a set of photos sent showing the issue which, alone, would be virtually impossible to come to a conclusion of physical damage versus defective product. As a customer, you are in a no win situation here as no matter what happens they are going to blame you and not the manufacturer or installation for the problem.

It wasn't busy, and after giving my phone number they were able to look up my claim and asked me to come back in 90 minutes. Used that time to get lunch (but was also sadly reminded a lot of restaurants are closed Mondays). I came back a little early and my phone was all set to go. Since it was via my insurance the payment just shows up in the phone bill. My only complaint was they put a screen protector on which I thought was nice, until I realized it was covering up the part of the phone you put your ear on - I was confused why my calls were so muffled. I made my phone unusable a while back attempting to repair it myself. In the process, I lost the screws inside of it. I walked in and asked if they had the screws I needed and was surprised to find that, not just did they have them, but they didn't charge me for them. On top of that, they asked the questions to make sure I got the right parts and were friendly the entire time. If they're willing to go to that length for a customer that they're not charging, I can only assume that they'll do great things for people who actually pay for their services.
