We were served a white Port before lunch and then lunch consisted of 3 courses with both a white and red wine made with grapes from the immediate area we were sailing through. The main course of beef was delicious and it was all topped off with a super tasty cheesecake. During our break time in Pinhão we walked out to the Symington visitor center and even got to pick some grapes from the vineyard at the visitor center. Great memories were made on this cruise!

We reserved the same type of room; however, upon arrival we realized quickly that the room was much smaller than what we remembered. The bed is not a queen, it's a full size bed. Smaller than what my husband and I are used to. The bathroom sink is for single person use...we book our rooms based on our personal preference (i.e. what we are used to at home) we don't go on vacations to sacrifice comfort. The staff is friendly though and speak English, so communication with the staff was seamless. Still do recommend as it's in a prime location. Within walking distance of major attractions and by a main travel route for Uber use.

Skip the hilly hike with a scenic cable car ride…read more Teleférico de Gaia is a gondola cable car route down along the hillside of Vila Nova de Gaia from the upper terrace by Dom Luis I Bridge. It features a colourful view of historic Porto across the Douro River. We paid €9 pp for a return ticket for efficiency rather than hiking between these viewpoints after landing & touring historic Porto and walking across the famous bridge. After a walk down a tunnel, the gondola ride-on system from the top is efficient like a ski lift. The ride itself is only around five minutes each way, but those five minutes gives you panoramic views of the Dom Luis I Bridge, the Douro River and Porto hillside neighbourhoods. At the bottom, we found a lively waterfront with music, wine patio, street vendors and Mercado Beira Rio. The ride back from the lower cable car station took much longer due to the lineup heading back in the late afternoon. As we ate dinner, we noticed a few cable cars still operating at sunset past the posted 6pm closing time for the perfect golden hour view across the Douro River. Skip it or hit it? It's worth the view & quick journey but be prepared to lineup at peak rush.

There are also some nice little vendors at the top of the hill by the park where the gondola station is especially a great vendor who was serving some insane delicious lemon gelato from a street cart. You also are a short walk away up top from the bridge that you can take some awesome photos of the city and riverside area. Here's the deal, this will cost you a bunch of Euros so unless you're young and hardy and don't mind a long ass walk or aren't averse paying for a taxi to go up to the top, this is probably a good option if you want to save some energy or time or save any older people or kids in your party from a long walk.

The room wasn't ready as we arrived early but we could already leave our luggage and jut walked downtown which is only ten minutes by food. Back we got our room with fresh sheets and towels, the room was really clean. The bathroom was small but okay, without a winos. Just that it took a very long time until the water got hot. The room was a bit dark as the window was just to a little courtyard but it was okay an not loud. The room had a TV that we didn't use. The ladies working there were all very friendly. There is someone 24/7 to let you in and help if you have issues. Around the hotel are bakeries and restaurants and as it is close to the centre you find even more restaurants, the shopping street and supermarkets. The station is 15min away by food and the metro station only three minutes away. It is no luxury accommodations but for a couple of days a good place, especially for that price.

We arrived in the busy mid-morning and it was a quick exit from the gate to the arrival area and then out of the airport. We were already in the EU Schengen zone from a domestic flight but the security and signage are well-streamlined at this airport. The airport feels modern and large, with connection directly to the historic downtown. You can take the purple metro line via light rail from the airport to Trindade within 30 minutes and then transfer to the yellow line for the more central Aliados, Sao Bento or Jardim do Morro stations. Before exiting the airport, the arrival area has a Tourism Interactive Store where you can pickup the 72h Andante Tour card for about 15 EUR to provide unlimited transit to sightsee. Since the Porto Card now excludes transit, this was a better alternative for us. The side of this store has a huge slanted TV display which you can't miss. Skip it or hit it? There's no need to fret about Porto Airport as it's one of the best in Europe.

Being within the Schengen Area, we are pleasantly dropped off at baggage claim and exited the security area easily, no customs needed. Giant and clear signs marked metro or Uber/Bolt transportation. We booked a car, followed the signs, and were at the dedicated lot in maybe 3 minutes. So easy. Side note: The lot is a bit messy, but that's due to the people, not the airport's fault.

And the room was so well appointed. From the towels to the sheets and pillows every aspect of our large room made us feel so lucky to have picked the Yeatman for our visit to Porto. The food at breakfast was fantastic. A huge variety of wonderful dishes to choose from and the best omelet bar. Speaking of bars we opted for dinner a few nights in the magical bar with a wonderful pianist and captivating night view of Porto and the Bar staff went above and beyond to make our experience picture perfect. The concierges were also very helpful to set up tours or buy train tickers and with nightly dinner reservations.
