I went ice skating for Friday night public skate at the sportsplex and the vibes were amazing! There were so many people and the line for rental skates can get crowded so be sure to get there early. They had really cool holiday lights up and music playing in the rink which made it super fun. This is a great event to go to with friends and family! read more

The Sportsplex is awesome! I can only speak to their pickleball courts, but we've had a great time using this facility to dink around on the weekends - especially since there aren't many actual pickleball courts around Nashville. You can sometimes walk in and grab a court ... but we've found it's much smoother to call ahead and make a reservation in advance. If you're not a member, you can reserve courts three days in advance for around $8 an hour. You pay per court, not per person, which is a great deal if you're playing 2 on 2. Everyone we've spoken to at the front desk has been friendly and helpful! The Sportsplex also offers pickleball clinics and open play opportunities. We haven't tried either of these - but they seem to be well-organized! Like some other reviewers mention, the parking can be a bit tricky if there's some sort of tournament going on. If you're worried about the facilities being busy, I recommend calling ahead to see what they have planned for the day. you'd like to play. read more

I'm here to give 4 stars for swim lessons, tennis courts, and ice skating! The facility is huge and I'm so glad Nashville has it. Skating is an important skill, so is swimming. If you're being chased by a Bond villain, you need to be able to skate across a frozen lake. You also need to know how to swim so you can enjoy yacht life. Two very realistic scenarios that you should be prepared for! No really, you don't want to go to a birthday party at an ice rink and not know how to skate. And swimming is a true life skill. My son has done lessons for both at Centennial and they really work on the fundamentals. If you can get a lesson, you should grab it! As for the tennis courts, they are great! Totally usable, affordable courts. I've played doubles and singles and both times had a blast. People are respectful and stick to their courts as best as they can. Check in is super easy and the staff is very helpful! A great experience all around! read more

This place is a hidden gym. I mainly only use my membership for the gym but it also includes access to the pool, skating rink & tennis courts. The gym has great equipment. The top floor in mainly for cardio (indoor track, tread mills, rowers, skiers) but there is also some room for mats and smaller free weights. The downstairs portion has all the machines and platforms. They even have women's barbells (shoutout to all my fellow Olympic weightlifters). It is never busy either which is a major plus. I have also tried some of the group yoga classes which were also good! My only complaint is that sometimes parking is crazy when they are hosting tennis tournaments/hockey tournaments/swim meets. read more

Great facility overall, however, the pickleball courts are severely neglected. We have developed a pretty solid community around the open-play pickleball nights throughout the week, but it feels like the employees view pickleball as more of an annoyance rather than recognizing the $2,500+ in revenue they make weekly from pickleball open-play alone. The courts are extremely cracked to the extent of affecting most games played, and the wind-breaks aren't even fully attached to the fence. So much potential here, but the staff and coordinators have really dropped the pickleball on this one. read more

I don't know much about the facility outside of the rink but it's the best place in town to go skating. The rink is great as long as the ice has been cleaned before a session. Unfortunately like most government funded facilities they're usually short on staff. They do great membership sales 2x a year where you can buy individual visits vs a full membership which is great for those who only want to skate or swim. Best thing about the arena is if you're a hockey fan. Predators practices are open to the public. You can have an up close and personal hockey experience outside of paying for a ticket to a game. The players even sign after skate sessions which is awesome for kids to be able to meet and interact with some of their idols. If you live in Nashville, this place completely spoils you. Compared to other big city anything plexes, this place is a dream. The old stuff (the Pool and hockey rink) is well maintained and managed. Yes, it shows its age, but also there is TLC for the property and it is obvious. The new stuff (the gym) has really some of the state of the art work out equipment and it is super easy to rent out a tennis court (though slightly pricey). The only annoying thing with this place is parking. It can get kinda dicey if there is an event. BUT yes membership between one day fee and long term membership is an insanely good deal at around 5 dollars a try and the long term fee depends on what special you get. read more

The Centennial Sportsplex is a huge athletic facility near Centennial Park. You can buy memberships to use all the facilities, but I always go to the Sportsplex for their public ice skating on one of the ice rinks. There is also an intramural ice hockey team that practices here, and the Nashville Predators hockey team also uses the facility for training. The ice rink has rental skates, or you can bring your own skates to use on the ice. The admission fee is cheap only $6 to skate all evening long. And the skate rental is another $2 on top of that. It is a great place for an evening of cheap wholesome fun. So if you've had one too many nights at the bar and want to relive some youthful excitement, go ice skating! The rink can be pretty busy on weekend nights, but it is a lot of fun to go to an open skate in the arena during the summer months. You can get cooled off and do something really different. Watch out for the legions of teenagers all ogling each other. Otherwise this place is a lot of fun. read more

There is no better way to usher in fall/winter than to go ice skating with friends. This past weekend I, along with 20 friends, went to the Sportsplex and had a blast. All you need to do is bring a jacket (a light one is best as you will get warm once you get moving) and socks (don't forget SOCKS!) It was great only spending $9 on a fun booze free night ($9 is for the ice skate rental and admission) and think of all the calories you burn skating! Everyone was friendly and there were no "jerks" on the ice. I also learned a new term from the 11 year old boys who were wayyyyy better at skating than me. The term is to "light someone up" which means to go really fast, then stop and spray ice all over someone. This might be a form of flirting on the ice, but I'm not really sure. I'm thinking there might have been a scenes about this in The Mighty Ducks. (I totally just digressed) The only thing I wish the Sportsplex had done differently was turn up the music! Oh, and they should have better signage out front. If I hadn't already been there once before, I would have thought the place was closed due to how dark it was from the outside. If you are in the parking lot (look at the buildings, with your back to Centennial) it is the building on the right. All in all, whether you are a first time skater or a Michelle Kwane. I really don't know what other city's offer in regards to a Sportsplex so I don't' a basis for comparison. I think ours is pretty nice. It has an ice skating rink that seems adequate though crowded. When I was a kid in Orlando, ours had music and disco lights which I notice it's just more of a circle around the place kind of deal and there isn't a warm place to sit and watch your kids. There are Olympic size pools with swim lessons offered as well as diving. I took one of the children's swim classes with my son and I thought it was very good. There are lap lanes open in a different pool than the swim lessons. You can have birthday parties here and use the rink and/or pool. If you aren't a member of the Y and are in need of a winter place to wear your kids out, I think this is a great option. read more

We were there for the City Swim Meet. As natatoriums go, this one is pretty darn great (but if its named after America's best unsung swimming great, Tracy Caulkins, it better be. Our kids are all young, so we were only there for the 6 and under swimming, but they had well over 250 little kids running around, plus parents, coaches, siblings and assorted well wishers -the place could have, heck should have been a disaster, but it is set out incredibly efficiently. All the kids made their events, there were no long delays that plague other swim meets, and the inside was actually less humid than the outside. I do have to add that the fact that my kid placed 9th in the whole city with one more year to go as a 6 an under also helped my love of the place (proud dad has to get in a brag every once in a while). read more

Matt Oberbreakling got the place looking great, leagues playing nicely and always available to answer any questions you may have about hockey and skating. If you are thinking about learning how to play hockey--- this place will help you. There is a sports store at the rink as well where you can purchase all your equipment needs. I've only visited the Sportsplex to ice skate and to cheer on friends in a triathlon. I gather this facility offers so much more that I have yet to discover. The ice rink is fairly nice and offers multiple public skate times - which can be found on their website. Adults are $7.00 each, and skate rentals are $2.00 per person. (There are also discounts for children, military, etc.) After purchasing an admission ticket, you move inside the arena to get your skates - either figure skating or hockey skates (the rental price is the same for either). Rink Guards keep a watchful eye, and bleachers are available for on-lookers, or for participants to take a rest. On this last visit, I noticed there were many children's birthday parties going on...a pretty good idea of something a little different. Additionally, for the young-ins, the rink offers "Skate Aids", which are similar in appearance to a walker, designed to glide across the ice. The Sportsplex also offers skating lessons and hockey clinics for all ages and abilities. Too bad I didn't learn about this until AFTER Christmas! Sure, it's an older facility with limited parking, but overall, decently kept and a good time. read more

I stayed in Nashville to watch a Predator's game on my way to Kentucky and fell in love with these two rinks. The ice here was the best! Great fun, I met a couple of other figure skaters, low cost for what you get, snack bar, dressing room and lockers. As a recreational figure skater, I fell in love with this place! TL;DR: I rarely sing the praises of gyms but the newly renovated Centennial Sportsplex is just AMAZING. If you're looking to do your own workout and/or lift weights, GET A MEMBERSHIP ASAP. I am truly bummed I don't live here year round bc it's hard to find a gym like this in NYC. I came here to use the squat racks and I was just blown away. My only prior interactions with CS prior been with their skating rink and pool, both of which sorely need an update. However, their newly renovated gym - across the way from the pool building - just rocks, and I've been to a lot of gyms. 1) In terms of floor space, it's probably a bit smaller than the Downtown Y. Upstairs is a running track + some cardio machine, and free weights, squat racks and machines are downstairs. Small area for free weights + medicine balls, some pull-up bands / TRX / GHD machine off to the side, and then... 2) 5 SQUAT RACKS PLUS MULTIPLE BENCH RACKS!! Also we're not talking old, plain steel squat racks - these are fancy, bright green, and have safety spotters, pull up bars, lat pull pulleys, and other features I didn't even know what they did. Each has nice lifting platforms, where you can do deadlifts right next to your rack, with rubber sections on the side to dampen the sound of weights being dropped. A lovely touch is that each also has four barbell holders and I found at least one smaller women's bar (v impt bc I have small hands and it's a smaller diameter). Tons of weights on the racks as well as two big bumper sets. You'll never need to wait for a rack here. I honestly have never seen a commercial gym with so many nice squat racks, and they're by the windows so it even feels a little private. 3) There are actually women lifting here. The membership is pretty diverse and while your traditional beefy men powerlifters were still meandering about on the floor, I was lifting alongside 2-3 other women also doing significantly heavy squats / DL. It didn't feel intimidating at all. The only downsides I can think of are locker rooms are just *ok* (no towels or shampoo, 2 showers) and only two plain foam rollers without spikes. This place is also SO CHEAP. 3 credits on Classpass for a single Gym Time, or $8 for a single visit if you pay out of pocket. BUT, an annual membership is $350 total for adults who live in TN month to month for $70 a month / $150 for 3 months. You can even buy a 10 visit pass for $70 if you don't want to commit. SO MUCH FLEXIBILITY! read more

of the two places to skate in nashville this is definitely superior. don't even bother with the antioch one. this one is bigger, has a more efficient system for rentals/entry, is less crowded, and offers other facilities. Overall i just love coming here to skate. even when it is crowded (especiallyyyyy during winter break) i had such a good time. and there's definitely a wide range of skaters here all the time, from adults/kids who can't walk in skates to skaters that could be professional . there's a lot to watch and learn here. also fun to just hang here if you want to switch it up w ur friends i guess. just don't be annoying and spend half the time posing for group photos in the middle of the rink lol read more

The best gym in Nashville! Never more than 20 people in the gym and they have the best equipment. the community of regulars makes it a cooll experience. I got this great idea to go ice skating after taking a 6 yr hiatus, and I was never good to begin with. Got a couple friends together and went down on a Saturday night. It was PACKED and waited in a long line. There were lots of people on the ice and beware of teeny boppers, unless you are teeny bopper, well then, enjoy this awkward moment in your life. In the end we had about 45 min left and got a few $$ discounted so not a bad deal. Honestly I don't think i could have skated more than that. And after falling on the ice 3 times, I say all in all good times! read more

I love the sportsplex. Been going here since I was a kid. The pools are great, I remember having tons of fun trying to learn to swim. Now that I'm older, I usually just try and teach myself to ice skate. I'm horrible still at ice skating! Embarrassing when you have a little 10 year old boy skating circles around you while you're staying close to the wall trying to hang on. I recommend going while the kids are in school. You'll save yourself a lot of embarrassment! This is a great place to go during the hot summer days. I'm guessing it will be a bit more crowded in the winter because everyone is in a festive mood. If you check the Nashville Predators website, you may also make it to one of their public practice sessions on the B rink. Skating lessons and hockey leagues are available. An olympic sized swimming pool, a diving well, and a smaller recreational pool is available. Fitness classes, including yoga, are held on site daily. The winter and wanting to re-create non-existent memories of snow and snow rinks usually brings me to the Centennial Sportsplex. I hear they are home to a pool and fitness center but all I know is the ice rink so that's all I'll talk about. It's $6.00 to get into the rink and $2 to rent a pair of skates for those of us that don't care enough to purchase some. Though I am a big fan of falling and stumbling around the rink, I'm not a big fan of the hordes of teenagers that I find generally maddening. If nothing makes Christmas more Christmassy thank ice, gloves, and snow coats, this should be on your winter list, but don't say I didn't warn you. Besides general admission skating fun, the Centennial Sportsplex also offers skating lessons, hockey leagues, and the occasional Predators practice. read more

Centennial Sportsplex has a really good atmosphere. Most public areas are filled with sketchy people and you would never want you much less your child to walk around, but Centennial proved that stereotype wrong. It also has really cool events going on all the time. Special Needs classes are all year and it's really inspiring to see them so happy all the time; sometimes I even get a smile. Public skating is very enjoyable and it is perfect from anything to a first date to a birthday party. They take reservations for parties, too and may I just say they are very memorable. Centennial dims the lights and reflect lights everywhere. The Nashville Figure Skating Club offers Learn-to-Skate classes and they are very productive. They help everyone from children that are three years of age to adults who are sixty. The swimming program is also very big. It doesn't matter if you are an amateur or a professional they provide well rounded courses for everyone. The staff is very polite and will help you with whatever you need. The thing I love and enjoy most about Centennial is that you can go for a swim, go skating, and then go for a walk in the park across the street. It has a wonderful atmosphere and I would definitely recommend going here for any event! read more

Visited 2-7-2017, 2:30pm. I visited the sportsplex at 2:30pm on a Tuesday looking to swim laps while in Nashville on business. The front desk staffer was very friendly, collected my $8 entry fee, and directed me to the lockers. The men's locker room was clean and relatively spacious. It includes a shower area with about 12 showers, a large steam room, a sauna. There were easily 50 to 60 lockers but you do need to bring your own lock. You also need to bring your own towels (I brought 2 from the hotel). After changing into my swimsuit, I headed to the pool where the lifeguard on duty greeted me and said I could pick any empty lane. The lap pool is very large. There were four other people swimming, but there were a dozen or more lanes. Swam laps for 30 minutes, spent 10 minutes in the steam room (which was very steamy as it should be, very effective), showered, changed and only saw maybe a dozen other people in or around the locker room the entire time. So those looking to avoid crowds would find the mid-afternoon times suitable. Overall a very nice municipal facility and a great value for $8. read more
