I scheduled an appointment and arrived at the scheduled time only to find out that there was no appointment scheduled for me. I reminded the receptionist about the specific conversation we had, and she said she remembered it, but somehow the appointment was not recorded. She then said that there was a cancelation at the same time I arrived and the doctor could see me right now. She gave me a packet of paperwork to fill out. 10 minutes later when I returned the paperwork, she said that actually the doctor will NOT see me as she needs to go home since her child was diagnosed with strep infection and she didn't want to expose her own patients. I was so frustrated at this point that I decided not to come back for another appointment. A few minutes later as I drove away from the parking lot, the receptionist contacted me to let me know that the doctor's husband was now able to babysit the child and now she CAN see me. I was completely shocked by continued back and forth lack of communication. I said I would not be returning. You think that's it? NO! The doctor then called me to let me know that in fact based on my paperwork I should not be seeing her at all and go to the ENT!!! I have ringing in my ears, if an audiologist is not the right place, then I am a total idiot. Needless to say, this is the last time I am going to this place.

I recently helped a friend apply for hearing aids through the HEAR Nashville program, a need-based…read moreprogram unique in the U.S. After she was approved for assistance, I took her to see Dr. Randi Yontz at Ascent Audiology in Madison for a hearing test and to be assessed for hearing aids. Turns out Dr. Yontz is on the the board of HEAR Nashville, so the process went very smoothly. Dr. Yontz took her time explaining the results of the hearing test and what to expect in the new hearing aids. Once they arrived, she patiently detailed how the aids operated, how to maintain them, and what to expect in the future. Not once did we feel rushed in or out of the office, and my friend is greatly enjoying being able to hear again! And I don't want to leave out Brenda, the patient care coordinator. She is friendly and efficient. There is even a large table in the waiting area that had a puzzle Brenda purchased for visitors to help assemble accompanied by lovely music and pictures on the TV, a pleasant break from typical daytime television programs. With some comprehensive and simple tests Evelyn was able to chart my hearing loss accurately. With up to date modern computer technology she set up a test set of hearing aids and BOOM! I was able to hear those sounds I was missing for years. From the emotional side I can't say enough about how actually HEARING again has helped in the last two weeks. As I am getting used to hearing again I go back occasionally and she is able to tweak up each tone so that the units are more acute,more normal and more comfortable. This office is not only efficient but really produces results. The hearing units are top of the line and interface with my i-phone to allow me to set parameters for all kinds of locations and they adjust automatically. ABSOLUTELY a fan of this Hearing Specialist and her office and will bump her up to 5 stars when I have had these devices for a while!
