The world is a difficult place and it isn't about handouts.. it is about HELPING your fellow human being. Some people don't have families to run to and have to find other resources... Luckily, the Interfaith Food Pantry is here to help. This branch in Studio City serves Studio City and North Hollywood whether you are homeless or stuck in a poverty rut without food. Every Monday and Friday, from 10am-1pm , the First Christan Church (on the corner of Moorpark and Colfax) opens its doors to help those in need. You bring an ID/ proof of residency (different branches of Interfaith help different geographic locales so it goes by zip code) or the homeless just state their situation. Interfaith works on the honor code since no one would be so cheap as to pretend to be homeless to gain some canned goods. (It provides pop-open canned goods for the homeless). Everyone gets two bags. Generally a brown bag with canned goods, some pasta or beans, canned tuna, etc and a plastic bag with bread from stores such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (seriously). These are the breads that "expire" that day from the grocers so the food bank picks them up. The plastic bags also feature any other bakery goodies they gain like cupcakes, coffee cakes, etc. No meats or milk but this isn't a grocery store. No thrills, no fuss, JUST HELP. A better approach would have been to either not answer the call if unavailable or kindly apologize and ask me to call back later. I hope this feedback helps improve the front desk experience because the doctors provide excellent care.

I started calling them around 4:10pm just to follow up my appointment but no one dares to answer my call, I dont think theyre close by that time since its clearly shows that they close at 5pm. They solicit "donations" in their piggy bank for food distributions and give you crap of you can't pay. The food they give out is often expired. This is the first time I ever needed to go to a food bank, asking to be fed, so this is my first hand experience. I had a scheduled meeting at Didi Hirsch mental health in Glendale and currently on Social Security Disability. I ask if there is a place in Glendale where they serve food to those in need. They gave me a list of several places nearby, so I chose (L&F) Loaves & Fishes. First, I called and spoke to a gentleman, I identified myself gave my name and mentioned I am patient of Didi Hirsh mental health and that they referred me to your organization. I ask what are the meal days and times, he replied, we serve meals all week between 10-2p except on Thursday. Ok fine. So I walked to L&F ones I got there, I was asked to sign in by the Sr. citizen lady which I did. It asked for my name, address, zip and if it's my first time here or not. I checked first time. She then walked to the filing cabinet I guess to pull my file and after a minute or so, she turned around and asked me if this was my first time here or not. I replied, yes this is my first time here as I stated on the sheet. And then she looked at me like OH! she then approached me at the counter and pulled out a piece of paper stating these are requirements in order to be fed. I showed her my CA Driver's License showing address and my Disability/Medicare card. They also needed a copy of a rental agreement, utility bill etc..which I did not have because I did not know. First, I don't have a rental agreement under my name because I'm staying with my dad in the apt, so they needed something in writing stating that I live there. My dad is currently in a skilled nursing home facility for rehab due to a recently fall. So bottom line, I went there expecting to have a hot meal only to be refused because I did not have the proper information. If I have known that, when talking to the gentleman when I called, I would have been more prepared. I said to the Sr. citizen lady, I need these information in order to be fed? The lady replied, yes. I turned around I said no thank you. She asked me if I wanted a lunch bag to go. I said, I don't want your service. It's not that I don't want their food, I don't want their service and requirements to be fed. I didn't know their was requirements to feed the hungry. Its not like I'm going to be there every day for meal time. I just need a few meals to tie me over until next week when I receive my disability check.

However I did qualify and even though I am going to owe the IRS, they saved me money because I was going to have to pay a tax preparation service. As well as he will tell you he doesn't want you to touch dirty things or lift heavy boxes but will ask the interns to carry and throw away dirty molded food and carry 30+ pound boxes. I was only there for two weeks but those two weeks were pretty gross. unless they cleared that whole place out and bombed it in between the time I was there and now than they would most definitely still have bed bugs. it was bad ... I they were so big and comfortable they looked like tics hahah
