The Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts is an amazing place with fantastic teachers and great staff. The staff is wonderful and have always responded within a few days of an inquiry. The main person I interact with on the administration knows me by name after meeting only twice. Also, she did a great job meeting my scheduling requests over the summer when the schedule is crazy with everyone skipping lessons here and there for vacations. As with any organization who supports bringing affordable and quality music education to as many people as possible, the staff always has a superhuman work load. To get to all the work somehow and have a great attitude is a testament to their commitment to the school and its students. I have been taking lessons in 2 different instruments at the school and both instructors are top notch in both teaching and performing. Both instructors are highly concerned with proper technique, both as it applies to proper playing, but more importantly, how it is critical for avoiding injuries that can occur due to poor technique. They present a fun mix of playing and music theory that keeps me excited to practice and learn more. read more

We absolutely love this school! My daughter has been taking guitar lessons here for a couple years. A friend had recommended we come here when I was searching for an affordable but good teacher for her. My friend's son took over 10 years of lessons I believe from the teacher my daughter now has, Michael Quam. They took the time to talk with us about her styles and strengths, and agreed he would be a good fit. He is so wonderful - patient, knowledgeable, and invested. He quite often gives us extra time, and is very supporting of any direction we take. The staff are wonderful too. Nancy has been so supportive of us, and has worked with us for FA so my daughter can attend lessons. They are so humble and gracious in what they do for the students, and how they work with parents, especially ones in need. The school has a very comfortable setting and a really nice recital hall. They are not pretentious at all, and are very welcoming. We feel like rock stars at this school! I would highly recommend them, and we support them in any way we can. I have had my two daughters here for music lessons - piano, violin, voice, and the community band- for over a decade. The school has since become the CMA and used to be RMCMA. The teachers here are excellent, the highest caliber. There are so many different teachers, you can certainly find one to match your personality. My kids are now phenomenal piano and violin players as a result of the dedication of these teachers. Every semester there is a concert for each teacher and even an honors recital if you make it thru auditions. Keep in mind this is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the musical education of children and even adults, if they want. Thus, it is busy and the staff is dedicated but has more work than they can handle. Patience is important when you call and they are trying to find an empty spot for you. The wait is worth it when you see the quality of the dedicated teachers. I am so grateful as a parent that this organization exists and has educated my daughters for over 10 years. We have been going to CMFC for the last six years and have had a very positive experience. We began with "Music Together" for both of my girls, and now my older daughter takes piano lessons there. I have been impressed with both the programs and the staff. When I had trouble, on occasion, with registering for "Music Together," Nancy (Registrar) was very understanding and helpful. Additionally, she has always been very happy to work with me with the payment schedules. While I know she is very busy, I notice that her strongest communication comes via email. I have received emails back from her late at night and even on weekends (not that I expect that). When I inquired about piano lessons for my oldest daughter, Nancy was extremely thoughtful about recommending a teacher who would be a good fit for my daughter. My daughters have great memories of their time at CMFC both from "Music Together" and from piano this year. read more

My grandsons and I give the Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts in Lafayette a thumbs up and 5 stars. We have been associated with the Center for 4 awesome years. One grandson took drum lessons, I took bassoon lessons, and my youngest grandson is currently taking weekly piano lessons. We found the perfect teacher for each instrument. Our lessons were designed by the teacher specific to our individual needs. Even our choices for day and time were accommodated. The recitals are always fun and entertaining. We've been part of the Music Festival Center for almost 20 years. (As CMA and RMCMA). My husband, myself and our 2 girls have experienced and appreciated many teachers and 6 different instruments of learning and voice lessons. Everyone is supportive of the arts and love of music. Most importantly, when we fell on hard times, the school did not turn us away. Their scholarship program paid for my daughter to continue her lessons until we could resume our own payments. The people at the school work hard to organize schedules and set up new semesters of teachers and students. They work on your behalf and try to accommodate everyone's needs. We have been going to the CMA for 5 years now for both my son (cello) and daughter (violin and voice). They have an amazing array of music instructors that we have benefitted from. The teachers are so dedicated to bringing the love of music to the children, and making choices that are best for the child. They do bend over backwards. I have been impressed at the range of instructors in any one instrument, from traditional to less than conventional. That is really important because not all kids learn the same way. It is clear the love of music comes through the whole experience. We are lucky to have this resource in Lafayette. read more

I have always wanted to take voice lessons because I love to sing. I have been taking lessons for the las 5 years. I started as an adult and I totally love the opportunity to study with such as a well trained teacher and one that takes the teaching of his craft so seriously. All other instructors are of high caliber it shows in the proficiency of the students on the recitals. There is a growing sense of community with the other students which makes it more special. The Center for Musical Arts always finds way to support the community. Last night, they had an amazing front porch concert featuring the faculty from the school. People brought their garden chairs and were sitting on the side walk and street. Everybody had a mask on. The concert was free of charge although they had a donation box. There was a food truck from Eats & Sweets that serve ice cream, salad or hot dogs during the event! They had an interesting variety of style: Jazz band, Native American flutes, piano and accordion, vocals and even an instrument I never heard about called 'Electronic Wind Instrument'. read more

An amazing community asset! The Center for Musical Arts has been so great for our family. We started coming here in 2009 for Music Together when our kids were babies. Now are kids are in piano and ukulele lessons. I was in the Glee choir for a few years too. We receive top notch professional instruction from our teachers. Also, they really care about my kids, musically and as a whole person. I get personalized help from the administration for understanding how to schedule and for our billing. I have been involved in the CMA for 20 years as an adult student in a wide variety of lessons and performance opportunities, as well as a longtime volunteer. CMA indeed offers "music for all for life" - opportunities for students of all ages to work with top notch personable professional teachers, many of whom also perform --cafe gigs , opera, symphony --throughout the Front Range. I have been taking jazz piano lessons with an instructor at the Center for several semesters. The caliber of the instructor and all of the staff is top notch. I have been extremely happy with the lessons I've had thus far and am impressed overall with how well organized the office staff is with keeping me posted about registration, lessons scheduled, events at the Center, etc. It's so nice to have such a great place for music lessons no matter what level you are at. CMF and RMCMA are a treasured asset in Lafayette. Our son has been taking music lessons here for years. The facility and staff are dedicated to music for all, and there are many programs for all kinds of music - voice, a wide range of instruments, etc. The passion for music is evident in everything they do. My elementary-aged son has been taking voice lessons at the Center for about a year. Not only is the staff incredibly helpful and friendly, but his teacher is absolutely fabulous. She's been so supportive of him, even worked with him to quell his anxiety about performing in public. (Now he's comfortably addressing an audience of 400!) He wants to add ukulele lessons to his voice lessons... I really think this place has changed his life for the better. read more

I'm sorry that Virginia had a bad experience. The Center for Musical Arts is a local non-profit and, as is often the case, has limited staff. But the faculty there is very professional and loves kids!! I have been to student recitals there and the talent shown by the kids is remarkable and a real testimony to the dedication and skills of the faculty. I attended piano lessons here when I was a child, and was thrilled to enroll my own children when they were old enough. We discovered quickly that piano was not the right instrument for either child, and through some trial and error found guitar for one and violin for the other. There is a host of talented teachers here, they accommodate for financial need, and always put on recitals at the end of each semester for the students. I honestly think they have the sharing of music as a core value over profit. They are flexible about makeup lessons and have wide availability. We have absolutely loved coming here for music together for the last 5 years. The teachers are well trained and extremely interactive with the kids. The price is well worth the benefit our kids will receive now and in the future. Nancy Brace, the registrar, has also been wonderful to work with.
