This place is warm, friendly and structured which is the perfect combo for our family. The teacher turnover is low which is a big plus for me. The school provides tons of updates during the day and most of all my son loves it. We were at another center for 4 months and my son would cry everyday at drop off. At Primrose, no more tears just Bye Bye Mama! The only issue I have is my eldest son wants to go to Primrose too. Looking for new experiences, my husband and I decided to make 2013 the year of the symphony. As luck would have it, our friends had access to season tickets and we were invited along for the season. Last night we had our first symphony 2013 experience and it was fantastic. No pun intended as it was the 'Francois Fantistique' production last night. Debussy, Bizet and Berlioz were the featured composers and it was a really wonderful evening. I will be the first to admit that I really enjoy listening to music but really know nothing about it so if I get the terminology wrong it is solely my own ignorance and not a reflection of the experience! The conductor explained Berlioz's symphony to the audience using humor to explain the love story. I really like the conductor and thought that he explained things really well including using small snippets of the music to show what Berlioz used as a "beating heart," "the lady," "cackling witches," and "slithering snakes." I would not have picked up on that without an explanation but knowing what to listen for, I anticipated those sounds and was excited to know what they meant along with being able to follow the story line a bit better. It was a really wonderful evening and as such I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the season this year!

Two members of the symphony has visited our strings class at Shepherd Valley Waldorf School where my child is learning violin. Kids get in free, and ticket prices for adults are reasonable. Here is a few things awesome things about Parlando. - The teachers, we've had an incredible teachers at Parlando. They've been positive, progressive and really interested in making the learning experience great (more about them below). - Registration is easy, efficient and online. Parents can even select convenient recital times for their children online. - Last year, Parlando decided to offer a free group lesson to all private piano students. So students, every month meet different students, perform and get feedback from a different teacher. As importantly, the students and the teachers exchange ideas and build community. Great for inspiration! - Parlando has a really nice way of offering children at least two public performance opportunities a year. These recitals are optional but encouraged. The philosophy there is low key very supportive performances that get kids use to being comfortable playing in front of others. - On a broader level, Parlando provides a lot of scholarship, does outreach to schools, provides outreach and music experiences for disabled people and is a really positive force around the community. - The pianos are in tune, practice rooms are basic but have everything you need, parking at the Dairy is free and we've never had trouble finding a spot. - The cost is comparable to other instructors, and early bird registration provides a further discount. - The monthly newsletter is great and provides info about musical opportunities around Boulder County. - Finally Travis LaBerge, the founder, director and a teacher extraordinaire is super nice, reasonable, professional, public spirited and just a class act in every way. His upbeat presence permeates the organization. Teachers. Elizabeth Leger has taught my daughters piano for two years. She's just awesome! Very friendly, very intuitive about . She mixes pop and classic, teaches improv, has a positive reward program, makes sure children have a solid backing in music theory. She's very familiar with several different pedagogical approaches coming from Canada, Japan, the US. She herself is an incredibly accomplished pianist. Last year, when she was receiving her masters in piano performance from CU, she invited all her students and performed excerpts and then explained and showed her students different parts of the piece. Super patient and positive with every level from beginner to experienced. Devon Park - horn instructor - Besides being a very accomplished musician i.e. performs with the Opera Colorado, Boulder Phil, Greeley Phil as well as various other performing groups around Colorado, Devon is an incredible teacher. He's incredibly knowledgeable and patient. He really builds on student's interests while at the same time gently filling in gaps and exposing them to new ideas. He's got a great sense of humor and people feel comfortable around him. Whether it is fixing a student's horn, lending them multiple CDs to compare different performances, providing historical context for a piece, describing the evolution of the horn, Devon is an absolute treasure of a master teacher!!

This is a great place to dance. The owner (Isaac) and staff here (Rafia and Peyton) are always…read morewarm, encouraging and friendly. The Arthur Murray dance method is methodical and flexible. It can't be easy training so many different ages and skill levels to dance, but they manage to make everyone feel welcome and teach at the level you need. I was a ballet dancer growing up, so need a lot of instruction on ballroom style and technique, but can pick up dance steps quickly. My husband is a martial artist with absolutely zero dance experience. He has different strengths and challenges from me in learning to dance. Rafia manages to teach each of us at our levels without either of us being bored or frustrated. And we're always having fun and laughing in our lessons. The instructors are great in keeping it focused but fun and relaxed. We've been with the studio for 2 years now. The way this Arthur Murray works is, you pay for the private lessons, and as long as you do at least one every two weeks, you can go to unlimited group classes, which they typically have each night during the week (depending on your level, you might be able to attend 3-4 of them). When you start, an instructor will ask which dances you're interested in, if you know, and help you figure out where you want to start. They offer pretty much every ballroom dance under the sun. We're most interested in the latin dances, so have been learning Cha Cha, Tango, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Rumba, Merengue and Samba. We've also sprinkled in some Swing, Country, Waltz and Foxtrot just from attending group classes. They start with basic steps, and each dance has a syllabus, so you progress carefully, consistently and thoughtfully into more complex movements. They're great about COVID social distancing. Everyone is always wearing a mask correctly - students and teachers. If you're worried about being in public, they offer Zoom lessons, or you could just opt to do personal lessons rather than come to the groups (which is what we've been doing for months.) On a bigger picture, if you're thinking of learning ballroom dance, get out there and do it. I've wanted to for years but felt held back by time and cost. Now that I'm doing it, I so wish I had found a way to start earlier. It's a really therapeutic part of my week. I get to take time out for myself, connect with my husband (there's a lot of work in the simple act of leading and following), and train in something I hope will continue with us for a lifetime. Plenty of people aren't partnered and take lessons alone. The instructors are wonderful for that as well, and group classes, if you're comfortable with the idea of dancing with others, allow you to meet and practice with other people - both partnered and solo, as the instructors always give the option to each student on whether they want to switch partners or not. I cannot recommend this studio highly enough. Give it a try!
