So many negative reviews. I've been lucky I guess. The process I'm going through personally is frustrating not the staff trying to figure out the issue(s). I have seen NP Niemi-Olson and DR William Ross (Dr Valdiva briefly). Even though I've still not got all the answers and solutions I'm really grateful for their help. Front staff have always been very kind and I have found their communication very thorough. Yea at times you go here and it's packed, and people seem to be stressed (I put some of that down to the crazy parking situation, we legit got flipped of by an elder the other day), but in all honesty this is front line staff really working hard. read more

You need a 0 or a 1/2 star. I was a patient, unfortunately. The Dr. misdiagnosed me with Parkinson's after simply talking with me and watching me walk down the hall about 20 steps. He also checked my familial tremors, previously diagnosed. He prescribed L-dopa. When it became apparent it wasn't working, he kept upping the dosage until I began to experience lightheadedness, hallucinations, dizziness, weakness and fatigue. My familial tremors increased. At one point he suggested CBD. I attended their group therapy sessions which were sales pitches for items and services we might want to buy.   I was not improving while the Dr. sat, arms and legs crossed at every visit. I demanded to see his superior, who tested and said, I never had Parkinson's. It was "something" under the massive Parkinsonism umbrella.   I had surgery in Santa Monica in1975 on the L4/5, S1 discs in my lower back. In 2022, my back was further damaged an the original Dr. at CNS referred me to their back specialist. At first he argued with me, saying I don't need surgery on the disc. I had to demand an Xray. After looking at the Xray, his entire mood changed and he agreed I needed another fusion and laminectomy. He only performed the laminectomy. which he performed and which collapsed two years later, requiring a FUSION and laminectomy on the L/3/4 + L4/5.  I have full insurance coverage, yet 3 years later, I've been. billed $2422.50.  Why? this was completely covered by insurance. No letter. No call. Just appeared on my credit card statement. read more

The only reason I tried getting an appointment here was because there was an employee health fair and they were there. I asked, if they saw people for migraines, they said yes. My doctor sent in a referral and I called to make an appointment. They said the referral did not have notes. I called my doctor's office, they said they sent them with notes. But, they sent them again for good measure. I called the Center again, they said they didn't receive. I explained the situation. Person on my phone said they would get records from previous migraine dr and for me to call back to see if they receive my doctor's notes. I call back a week from then after talking to my doctor's office again who stated they sent them & I could pick up a physical copy to take to them to make sure they get them. I called the center, they said they received previous records but still had not received notes from my doctor's who sent them 3 times. Their customer service is AWFUL! When I would ask questions, they talk over me, they're condescending, and overall rude! Thank you for helping me dodge a bullet. If their care is anything like their customer service I want none of it!! Not to mention they seem to be disorganized and can't find paperwork. I would give it ZERO stars if I could. read more

Ever since my very first appointment, the Center for Neurosciences has consistently dropped the ball. At my initial visit, I paid what was owed in full. Despite that, I later received a collections letter stating I had an outstanding balance. When I called their office, I was told "not to worry, it's just a pre-collections letter and won't affect your credit." After checking, they admitted I was completely caught up. That should have never happened in the first place, and no apology was given, just an excuse about "overlap." Completely unacceptable. Fast forward to today: I received a call that I may need to reschedule my procedure because they failed to submit my prior authorization in a timely manner. I physically went into their office on August 22nd, yet they chose to wait until August 29th, right before a long holiday weekend, to submit the paperwork. Now, the day before my injection, I'm told it might not go through in time. When I raised my concerns, I was brushed off with, "Oh, she's been busy." Again, unacceptable. Meanwhile, both my husband and I rearranged our schedules, we each took off of work, and now, at the very last minute, they expect us to scramble and reschedule with urgency, when they showed none themselves in sending the paperwork on time. The double standard is beyond frustrating. I asked to speak with an office manager, and as of the time I'm writing this, no one has reached out. After two major failures with billing and scheduling, I will not be returning. Their billing is incompetent, their scheduling staff is incompetent, and their lack of accountability is concerning. My recommendation: if you want your care handled correctly and professionally, do not go to the Center for Neurosciences. Tucson has other options available. read more

I had a disappointing and unacceptable experience at the River office on 9-16-25, for a scheduled appointment with Angela Rush. I arrived well in advance, 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment time, and completed all necessary check-in procedures, including handing over my insurance card and completing my paperwork. Despite arriving punctually and being fully prepared, I was made to wait for an inexcusable length of time. After waiting for over an hour with no communication from the staff, my husband approached the front desk. He questioned the delay and was informed that Angela Rush was running behind on her appointments. While delays can occur, the lack of proactive communication was the first sign of a breakdown in their patient care process. The situation escalated from a simple delay to a demonstration of gross negligence. After waiting additional time, bringing my total wait time to over two hours, my husband again returned to the front desk. He expressed our concern that this level of delay was unacceptable. It was only at this point that the clerk, after checking their computer, admitted to a significant error: they had checked me in for a different date entirely. Due to this, I missed my appointment and Angela Rush had left for the day, the staff then tried to get me in for the next day but I could not make their time frames. What is most upsetting is the blatant disregard for patient care that followed this error. The staff in the back office, having access to the check-in logs, must have seen the discrepancy and should have addressed it immediately. This is not only a failure of process but a complete failure of common decency. Appointments with a neurologist (even an FNP) are not simple to schedule and often involve waiting weeks or months. Our time, like that of their staff and doctors, has value. As a result of this egregious error, our day was completely wasted. The stress and frustration of this situation are compounded by the knowledge that this could have been resolved immediately had their team been diligent and accountable. This is not a matter of a small mistake; it is a clear symptom of a systemic breakdown in their front office and back-end communication. We are deeply concerned that other patients may be experiencing similar issues. We have had previous experience at this location and this is the first time something so erroneous has happened. But this was above and beyond an "oopsie" of a mistake especially when these appointments are so valuable and needed. This is inexcusable treatment. Furthermore, it would be nice to see the steps their office will take to ensure that a simple clerical error does not result in such a profound disruption to a patient's care and time in the future. read more

L5-S1 Microdiscectomy I can't say enough about Dr. Austerman and the Center for Neurosciences. From initial appointment to the prompt surgery scheduling all the way to the post-op followup appointment, everything was great. The surgery itself gave me instant relief for nearly all of the acute pain caused by nerve compression. I say nearly because there is still plenty of healing for my body to do on its own but the important bit here is that it is all on-track and known, consistent with the expectations communicated by Dr. Austerman for my specific circumstances. Be realistic about the complexities of your condition but as for choosing a surgeon, absolutely go see Dr. Austerman for a consultation. He has completely changed my life for the better after ten years of back pain and the more recent, acute symptoms that required more urgent intervention. read more

An assistant came in, told me that was it and...to call if I had any questions. Should I call and ask what the bleep that was supposed to be? When we walked in for my appointment the waiting area was packed with people. I thought oh my gosh, I'm gonna be waiting forever. They called me after 15 minutes of waiting. I had an x-ray done and then sat back in the waiting room. Within 10-15 minutes the doctor called me in for my appointment. Everybody seemed to go in and out smoothly! I had to cancel an appointment due to illness. I have been unable to reschedule for a week now. When I call, I am on hold up to 18 minutes. When the call is answered I am told that the doctor's assistant is very busy and will call me back when she has time. There has been no call back. HORRIBLE! My son was referred after an accident resulting in a brain injury. It took them three months to retrieve his hospital medical record. (3 hospitals over 5 month period) I was told it should have taken three weeks at the most. They will not make the first appointment until they receive all medical records, understandable but frustrating! I finally get a call and it is to say that they will not see my son and refuse to give a reason except they can because it's a private practice. My son's recovery has been waisted for three months due to their neglect. This should not be allowe. At the least give me some understanding as to why they thought it okay to waist three months of crucial recovery time and not take his case. read more

Dr Francisco Valdivia was very short, unprofessional and had no patience for my grandmother with dementia. He didn't understand why she was being seen when she was previously diagnosed with dementia. I had asked for documentation for a guardianship and he stated he doesn't do that and walked out of the room. I will not be taking my grandmother back. read more

So I've been going to neurosciences on River for many years seeing numerous providers. I have noticed a steep decline in care, a consistent attitude from receptionists and those that answer the phone, and inconsistency between physicians and the receptionists. Truly, the nurses who bring the patients back and forth from the lobby are the only one's in that office currently that seem to be interested in the patients. They are kind, compassionate, actually listen to the patient, and keep things moving in that office. They are not the place they used to be and if you're looking to be snubbed, yelled at or criticized, and long wait times on the phone, their receptionists would be for you. After over 20 years, I will be looking for somewhere else to go for my kids and myself. read more

I went to the Grant Rd location. I heard of River Rd Negative comments from other people. My Dr did the Epidural I expected severe pain None the worst was a pin prick feeling, my diabetic pin stick hurts more. Dr Chen was very kind and gentle. I let him know when I'm nervous I Chatter on and on. He showed my chatter as if it was a very interesting Story. I highly recommend him to everyone. A referral was sent to Center For Neurosciences, but I hadn't heard anything, so I called and they had the referral for nearly a month, but never contacted me. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with most of that time being placed on hold, just to be told I would have to wait for a scheduler to call me back. A week went by and I had not received a phone call. When I called again, I was told they called a number which was not the number I provided and once again was told I would have to be called back. Another week goes by and this time I spoke with a supervisor who assured me someone would contact me that same day to get scheduled. Three days later and I still have not received a call back. I have heard from others to avoid this place and now I see why. read more

If I could give zero stars I would and I never leave reviews. I was sent here after having what seemed to be seizures of some sort and losing my ability to walk. I saw Dr. Badruddoja. When I got to the office I had an episode. The Dr came to the door and said "NOPE" and the staff wound up calling an ambulance. There was no communication from the Center what they saw to make them call so in between episodes I had to explain to the ambulance. The next day I went back and he played a game of patty cake for about 20 seconds and got up and said I think I know whats wrong with you but I'm not going to discuss with you only your PCP. after calling my PCP several times I finally called back and had to see why he had not shared what he thought was the issue. I bounced back and forth for awhile. Finally saw another Neurologist and was diagnosed with IIH where my body was producing too much spinal fluid, 3 times as much according to my lumbar puncture and was putting serious pressure at the base of my skull and pressure on my brain. This also triggered something called FND which I still struggle with off and on to this day. No serious tests were given and I had never felt so dismissed. Luckily I went through a couple years of treatment and found the cause but almost lost the vision in my right eye. Always advocate for yourself! I'm glad I did. read more

Dr(if you want to call him that) Danesh was completely unprofessional. It's very clear he missed the part in kindergarten where children are taught not to interrupt when someone is speaking. Due to his complete lack of professionalism, he was quick to misdiagnose. Wanting to push anxiety for events from 2020-2022, because of a speech change that most recently happened. When that was brought to his attention, he started stumbling over his words. Clearly he was not expecting that question and it took him by surprise. Don't waste your time with this so called MD. Keep looking. He's very rude on top of the unprofessionalism. It's unfortunate I can't give less than a zero. read more

I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Song with a referral from Barrows Neurological Institute. After a few dsicussions with the courteous staff. I was advised that Dr. Song would not accept me as a patient. No reason was given. Dr. Song did a neurological test for me in late 2023 and was curt at best at the test. The earliest she could see me after the test was almost five months later. I made an appointment with her anyway. I was then able to schedule an appointment with the professionals at Barrows Neurological Institute in Phoenix. I canceled the appointment with Dr. Song well in advance. I think I was fortunate that Dr. Song declined taking me as a patient. She is typical of some of the neurologists I have tried to get an appointment with in Tucson. Arrogant, indignant and just disrespectful of potential patients. I don't like the drive to Barrows in Phoenix but, the Institue, its doctors and staff are the complete opposite of Dr. Song's approach to practicing medicine. Ironiclly, she did some of her training at Barrows and St Josephs in Phoenix. I wish Dr. Song well and highly recommend that you do not seek her out for your neurological problems. read more

I've have had a whiplash experience here to say the least. I had seen one of the providers and enjoyed my visit. I went to a second opinion as one does, the appointment was in the same week and I didn't want a cancellation fee. Apparently you are not supposed to get a second opinion which is unheard of and I even looked on their website and new patient paperwork and I don't see that rule. All but one of the dozens of provider refused to see me. The one provider that would see me stated I needed to be seen as a new patient (even though I established care less than a year ago) and that put my appointment 7 months away from now, so i'm back at square one. read more

I'm currently a patient of CNS located in River Rd and I absolutely love it! I went to see Dr. Chugh and my experience with him was plain wonderful he explained everything answered my questions and concerns. I went to see him for a second opinion and I'm so happy I did! I also met Dr. Jacob and he was also wonderful took his time and explained everything. I received excellent care. Staff was also great I have zero complaints. I saw Dr Chugh he was Very arrogant he Told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with my spine just mild degenerative disc disease which is not accurate he spent less than 5 mins said he was the expert and none of the other tests or Doctors opinions mattered! Dr. Born at the center for neurosciences is to be avoided. I went for a hearing test and earplugs. The hearing test was advertised as free and the earplugs were to be paid for. The earplugs did not arrive in time as promised so I refused to accept them. So Dr. Born decided to charge me for the hearing test which was free. This is a terrible place. I was referred here by my doctor who believes I am having absence/partial seizures. I waited weeks for someone to finally call me to schedule, well today Diana called me (very rude btw) and told me all three providers will not see me. I asked why and she said that they don't see patients in motor vehicle accidents... my symptoms started way before that and she said 'they know they read your case and declined to see you, we are a private practice and are able to decline services'. The only reason the referral was sent after my car accident was because that accident made my dr sure that something is wrong and I need to be seen. The seizure is what caused the accident. And all three doctors won't help me? After reading the reviews I'm glad they won't see me- I'll be happy to see anyone else. read more

Pain management Brutal, antiquated, tortuous... I just experienced a barbaric procedure w/o proper preparation or options. As I'm screaming in pain, the Dr says, "I wouldn't do this to my worst enemy!". (Neck oblation w/o IV Sedation!!). I had no idea how invasive n painful it would be as I never had this done before! They are extremely busy w so many patients that the doc cannot really access ur personal issues of pain with the proper treatment. Not up to speed on newest pain procedures, remedies or drugs that are now available. THEIR Bottom line is how many people they can get in n out n how you will pay. It's so sad n unfortunate. Try to find an individual practitioner/group who might really know their craft n cares for human beings!! (Call Harkins Sleep, Pain n TMJ Center here in Tucson). I'm now not only dealing w what was the wrong procedure, but trauma n pain from something that was superfluous. How could they not know me a little bit after 6 months of visits w weeks of waiting for insurance n approval for nerve blocks n oblations? Why not tell me that "IV Sedation would be appropriate, less traumatic n best for me"? Why, u might wonder... because they only have an anesthesiologist at their large smoke n mirrored facility 1x a month.... n the doctor is too booked up....REALLY! It's all SHAMEFUL. THEY ARE NOT PRACTICING COMPASSIONATE N CONSCIOUS HEALTHCARE. It's just business as usual. Be educated n aware. The whole medical system is broken n needs to change. BE UR OWN ADVOCATE. However, when I asked for further understanding with questions, I was yelled at n shamed by an overworked medical secretary because I took too much time. This all took place as I was being wheeled out from one of the mandated procedures after a painful nerve block into my head....YIKE! Self protect if you can... Drs Norton & Dr. Noland are the best!! Dr. Noland for Botox in my neck muscles and Dr. Norton is the neurosurgeon which I don't need presently. I gave a one because it was the only way I could write this review. My husband has been referred to this place for a NCV. I was excited because my dad has had excellent treatment from Dr.Rivero and Dr.Sim.The scheduler was so rude. She interupted me when I was talking and acted like she was doing me a favor by answering my call. She explained that since "They are a private practice the doctors have to look at the referrals first."It will take 24-72 hours for them to read the referral. As a teacher, I would hope these doctors can read faster than that. Then it will be April or May before they can see him. This is ridiculous! If they treat you this bad before you are scheduled, how bad do they treat you when you are there? I would like a number to discuss this with upper management. read more

I saw Dr Badruddaja, worst doctor ever. I saw this doctor 2 years ago and was unable to change over to another neurologist. Recently ,I had a couple of falls very unsteady on my feet, and dizziness so I went back to see Dr B today, first, he had no respect of how to speak to people, he barely looked at me, He wanted to put me on another medication and I told him because I take so many medications presently I didn't want to try anything else He said well there's nothing else I can do for you and I said well maybe you could try a CT He kept walking out of the office I said, I would like to be discharged from your care and he was out of my sight, he already made it up at the reception to tell her, they would send a note to my primary care physician. Just be aware of who you choose for a physician and put this doctor on your "do not see list." read more
