My cardiologist is the best and so is the staff. I would give them 5 stars. The billing system is broken and I would not even give them a star. It is almost fraudulent in what I have experienced. I paid for my procedure on the day I had it in full. 3 month later received a bill for the same amount. I should have received a receipt. Luckily, I have the mental sharpness to double check my transactions before i sent in another large payment in the 1000s. Many seniors, I fear, maybe paying their payments twice. Very troubling. I also had to fight for a $200 double charge for an extra copay. After multiple calls and hours, I was reimbursed my overcharge but only $187. Go figure. Then 5 days after I was reimbursed I receive a new bill via email and text for $187. What the hell. Do better Pima billing . Surgeons are great, but phone calls are rarely ever returned. Billed incorrectly 4 months ago and got no action. Calls to billing often have 1 hour or longer hold times. While we got great care; the office is terrible. Wish we had gone elsewhere. In fact, all 5 of our doctors when discussing Pima Heart suggested going elsewhere because of office failures. read more

Attention Cardio Patients If you are a patient of Pima Heart & Vascular and you can get out of bed, I highly recommend that you RUN, don't walk, to another cardiologist ASAP. I have not been seen by a cardiologist at Pima for almost TWO years as they have passed me down to a PA for all my appointments. Pima Heart recommended that I take a "heart therapy" program that they offer and I told them I already have an existing gym membership and I'm on an exercise program / schedule. Shortly thereafter, I received a call from their online vendor Ricora who told me that I was referred to them for their heart therapy program online. I told Ricora the same story, that I had a gym membership and was on an exercise program but if their heart therapy program didn't cost me anything, I would try it out. Ricora assured me that it shouldn't cost me anything. Their online aerobics instructor was in her 20's and although I am 70, I tried to keep up with her. They then had us check our heart rate at which point the instructors told me that I should go directly to the ER as my rate was 220/110. I told Ricora that I didn't want to do any more of their strenuous aerobics as I had my own exercise program. I then received a bill from Pima Heart for $283 and I told Pima Heart that their vendor, Ricora, said that I wouldn't have to pay anything for the program. Despite this, Pima Heart has continued to harass me for payment knowing full well that I've had a heart attack, several heart procedures and several TIA's (mini-srokes). Pima Heart obviously doesn't care about their patients health, they just care about how much money they can squeeze out of Medicare, the insurance and their patients. The cardiologists at Pima Heart will soon have an eternity's worth of heartless patients in Hell to tend to, without pay. According to an internet search on vitals.com, there are ~286 cardiologists in Tucson and ~899 in Phoenix. I am certain that you can find a good cardiologist that cares about their patients rather than harassing them for money when the patient was originally told they wouldn't have to pay anything for "heart therapy" aerobics online. read more

I think My personal stress is lower since the Paris Incident in June when my wife had a medical situation and I had to fly overnight to rescue her. That ended up being a week. 90 days Post, she's better. But we ll see what he determines this round. Update from yesterday and the Echo Scan. I'm not fine but it is not serious enough for a procedure. He will Use this and the previous scan to set a bar and do all this again in 6 months. Read the other one star reviews to know what to expect. I was told my follow up was for high blood pressure when I have very low. I told them when I called back it was for my racing heart rate. Unfortunately, due to weather and construction I was 15 minutes late and had to reschedule with two other patients who came long distances. I asked for this policy in writing which they are looking for now. The apathy and indifference is shocking with the staff I interacted. Worse Customer Service "ever" extremely long hold times when calling the office (sometimes an hour or more), had to call 3 times and did not solve a very simple task to send lab orders and they lie about it they told me it was sent and did not happen. Don't waste your time. No follow through, no replies. No personal service, waiting for anyone to answer the phone is a nightmare, and forget about follow up we have been waiting 5 days for a follow up, no responce. Example the other day I called waited 10 min. on hold. called back 18 min. on hold someone answered, took my information, put me on hold waited another 17 min. someone else answered the phone, they said no info from previous person who answered the call. Was told it could take another 24-48 hours for a reply. Its been 24 hours but it is also Friday, no reply. According to them 4 days after test, test results still had not been reviewed by the doctor. Best to go elsewhere, but requesting records, after trial and error with this office, we found out you will have to call before 1:30 pm CST because an East cost office handles the records. Only to find out after wasting another day, you can simply go to the Medicorp.net website that the Pima Heart & Vascular staff does not tell you. Who knows how the Dr. is, we only met him once. And 2nd appointment for stress test could not be done because the Technician did not come to work. They rescheduled for 6 weeks later. In fact I am on hold already for 12 min right now to follow up again if the Dr. has even responded to their own medical assistants message of the test results, that she took the info on 5 days ago, then followed up 5 days ago, yet nothing. Wow 15 min. the phone was answered. They are going to check into this right now. So on hold again. I asked her is this normal proceedure for this office to not get a call back after 5 days And Even 2 days ago after speaking to the MA... no follow up from that either. Her reply - let me check, so far it has been 15 min. She came back on the line, I told her this is rediculous, come to find out, she works for a 3rd party call service, does not even work in the office. First of all, Dr. Maki, is a prince among men. He is personable, he listens, he is caring, and he is SO professional. However, I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for his office staff at that Eastside office! We had made an appointment A YEAR IN ADVANCE to have an ultrasound carotid study on my spouse. As we were walking up to the counter for that first appointment, the staff said, "Oh, we just tried to call you so you wouldn't drive all the way over here...we don't have a vascular ultrasound tech here today. You'll have to reschedule. So, we made a second appointment (that took 5 weeks to get). THE DAY BEFORE that appointment, we got a voicemail that once again, they didn't have a vascular ultrasound tech at that location and we would have to reschedule. REALLY? If you can't be more organized to have some kind of scheduling schematic to allow you to make certain types of exams at SOME LOCATION, then shame on you! We gave up on trying to schedule that exam, and planned to just ask Dr. Maki at the next appointment for a paper order so that we could get the exam done at some other imaging organization that is able to ACTUALLY PERFORM the exam. However, a week before that appointment with Dr. Maki, we got a call from the office saying that we would have to reschedule the appointment with Dr. Maki because we had not had the ultrasound done. Wow. I called back and told them that we would just find another cardiologist's office who had their shit together. SAD - we are going to highly miss Dr. Maki!!!!!! read more

After waiting months for a prescribed heart monitor, my husband went to his appointment only to find the only person there was a receptionist, who put a sign up while she took us in the back and had him remove his shirt to stick on the heart monitor. This person was friendly enough but seemed poorly qualified. She didn't bother to check his blood pressure, even though that is his main issue and it is a heart clinic. She gave him a plastic bag and told him there was a charger that he shouldn't need and stickers should the other ones come off. She did not tell him how the monitor works. She did not tell him he was to push a button when he felt something. Perhaps she didn't know how it worked herself, but it is does not inspire confidence having a receptionist install a heart monitor. She said it's quite common to wait several months for a heart monitor, that the company simply doesn't supply them with enough for the community. Supposedly a person gets better service if the doctor asks for expedience. Good luck with this place, if you don't have a choice. I'd go to the Tucson location instead if you have to stay with this company. We won't. read more

Husband is with VA and he has been seeing Dr. Menenses for almost 5 years. Got out of hospital 7/14/25 and needed post hospital checkup. Couldn't get appointment until today, 7/30. We had tried calling to see about call back on medication hospital took my husband off and no call backs and terminal hold. At appointment today he was told he was being fired as a patient since staff did not like his questions or attitude. This is after ekg, blood pressure and weight taken. Would not do exam nor discuss medication. Also said their office does not do call backs, but that their system showed no calls from us since June. Cell phone logs show differently. This is the second time I have tried to get in communication in 6 months. In April I couldn't get anyone to call me back about my blood thinner for 3 weeks. It was stopped due to an ER visit for bleeding and I had to keep calling back for 3 weeks because no one called me back. Now I was told I need my aortic valve replaced. I called 4 times last week, no call back. I asked who the practice manager was and she doesn't work at that building and you need to call to another building and no we can't transfer you because we don't know her phone number. Every time I call I'm on hold for 20 min until I push #2 and someone can call me back in 2 hours to find out why I am calling, but nothing happens - just take another message. Claudia Rasnake- this is not a satisfactory customer experience, listening for 20 min how Pima Heart is the largest cardiology group in southern Arizona and your office staff can't call back for 3 weeks. Dr. Nader Makki is my cardiologist and a great one. His staff however is a nightmare. Dr. Makki has always encouraged me to let him know if I needed anything. Twice now I have made multiple calls to schedule an in-between checkups appointment by phone and email and have never reached anyone. After I suffered a venous bleed serious enough to require EMT response, I made an appointment with Debra Jackley, the vascular specialist with Dr. Makki's group. I arrived on time, checked in and after waiting half an hour, inquired how long it would be. The receptionist flew around and 8 minutes later had someone perform an intake who said Jackley would be there shortly. I waited another half hour: no one showed up, nor was any sort of update or contact made with me at all. As I said., Dr. Makki is terrific but considering that his staff may cause you harm and/or injury through their lack of standards, consider carefully before you make an appointment (if you can get through). read more

Had an appointment schedule and they called me 2hrs before to cancel because a machine broke. I figured that's reasonable and they told me they'd get me in the next day. So I request time off work and drive to my appointment only to be told they can't do it today. They supposedly lost my appointment in the system somehow and would have to schedule me for next week. The receptionist was pretty rude about it and didn't have much of an explanation for me. So now I have 3 days I've requested time off work and change my diet for, all just for 1 appointment. I'm a retired medical professional. I've seen Dr Tuli on multiple occasions. Most recently, for shortness of breath and angina. He did multiple tests. He told me my treadmill had "no red flags". (I later learned it was abnormal and suggested ischemia and abnormal BP.) He said the nuclear study was either normal or showed multi-vessel disease. He cancelled the first heart cath after insurance denied it. He didn't advocate w insurance to my knowledge re approval. It took 4 mos from onset of symptoms to get a cath. During this time I experienced severe limitation of my activity due to the shortness of breath and angina. He said there was no evidence of vascular disease. I asked him re: testing for cardiac microvascular disease/dysfunction (CMD) which occurs mostly in women w my risk factors. He stated there were no tests for it. I then asked if CMD was just treated empirically. He stated "there aren't any treatments". He was often dismissive of my concerns at appointments. I overheard him telling a med student at my initial appt re the shortness of breath that he didn't think anything was wrong, but he'd do a treadmill to reassure me. When I asked if he was speaking about my case, he appeared flustered, but denied I was the patient he was discussing. He never told me that treadmill was abnormal. Fortunately, because of my medical background, I had done some review of readily available medical articles. CMD has been identified since the 1990's. Dr Tuli's statements directly contradicted what is stated in the literature. Since he is a Board Certified Cardiologist, this both surprised and disappointed me. Dr Tuli said since there were no cardiac issues I should just follow up with my PCP, which I did. Unfortunately Dr Tuli's report led my PCP and pulmonologist to also believe that I had no significant cardiac disease. Dr Tuli suggested that my symptoms were simply due to anxiety and somatization. I located a highly trained (Mayo) cardiologist who specializes in CMD. Fortunately he was located in Tucson (Banner UMC). He validated what I had found in my research, and was puzzled at Dr Tuli's assessment and comments re CMD. He did a repeat catherization (this was almost 7 mos after onset of symptoms). It included reactivity testing. This testing demonstrated that my angina and shortness of breath were due to severe cardiac vasospasm of the major cardiac arteries (80%+). Appropriate treatment has been initiated. Unfortunately I lost over 6 mos of quality of life, and went through significant stress because my symptoms were dismissed by Dr Tuli. Over 50% of standard left heart catherizations are "normal". A significant number of those patients with angina have CMD. This is especially true in women. CMD is a significant problem. Most patients with it go on the have heart attacks or heart failure within 5 years. A cardiologist should know this. If not able to do the reactivity testing, then the patient should be referred to a specialist who does. I am truly puzzled re Dr Tuli's attitude and care, as are other physicians who have cared for me. I do not recommend Dr Tuli for cardiovascular care. read more

Do not go to Pima Heart. First, Dr Torito is absolutely the most rude and condescending doctor I have ever encountered. I worked in the medical field for many years and worked with 100's of doctors. Torito is the worst. Most of the front office staff is horrible also. I'm sure they hate their jobs. When you call them, the hold times are unacceptable. At least 40 minutes just to get through. The manager on site has changed at least 3 times in 6 months, just when you think you're getting your problem resolved, the manager changes and you start all over again. The billing department has no clue what they are doing and bill you for services you did not have. If you don't have serious heart issues when you're first seen, you will by the time you get finished dealing with them. Steer clear of this place. read more

Dr. Dahdal was horrible. I have a very irregular heartbeat with a ton of other symptoms. He saw me for less then five minutes and told me I was wasting his time and that if I were to get tests done he would NOT be looking at the results. I was crying and pleading with him to help me which made him raise his voice at me and tell me to get a second opinion. I was in complete shock. Worst doctor I have ever seen. A VA referral. A horrible one at that. Went for an initial appointment, staff are like robots. Lack personality, they put out a vibe they do not want to be there. The Dr. is nice. Went back for my sleep study, same thing. Robots. Sleep studies are hard to do because of obvious reasons, but all night I kept being woken up from slamming cabinets and loud conversations in the hallway. After the study is finished, the tech removes all the equipment. Sends me on my way out the door, half asleep; walked into Circle K across the street and everything with glue residual from the pads that were connected to my face and head. Did not even have the decency to tell me I look like I got into a fight with the Stay Puffed Marshmallow man. I was a bit apprehensive about returning for my follow up but I said "what the heck"? 3 times a charm. Maybe, it will be a better experience. Nope, same shit, rude unenthusiastic staff. You don't feel welcome at all. You go in feeling like you walked into Ft. Benning for basic training. The Dr. though, very cool, very informative and comes off genuine. So I call a week later and leave a message to get a copy of my study. Days go by and nothing. I go in yesterday to get a copy, the rude lady up front tells me to sign in and wait til she calls me up. The lobby is about 45% capacity..... "How Bout...NO". I leave. Only cause I have already had a bad experience and do not wish to have another one. Go elsewhere, pay attention to other reviews, they are on point and accurate. The staff need an attitude adjustment, a moral boost? I have no fuckin clue but if you don't like your job in health care or hospitality, then leave. Find another trade where you don't take it out on patients. If this office insists on using a text to confirm/check in then what is the point of having to arrive 15 minutes early? At the least, the text could say "your APPOINTMENT IS AT 10:00 AM, please arrive at 9:45 AM." Just listing the arrival time requirement is misleading. As a result, I sat in the waiting room for an hour and ended up having to reschedule my appointment. I work, and I assume others do as well, so it would seem if the doctor is running "behind", common courtesy would be to announce that and let waiting patients re-schedule if necessary. On another note, the front office staff would go a long way in improving impressions if they were more friendly and smiled. And confine their "chats" to areas out of sight of waiting patients. Stay clear of this shady establishment! Rude and very unprofessional from initial visit to billing, nothing but problems. Wait times to reach ANYONE by phone can range from 18 -40+ minutes. Pathetic! Excluding ECK tech, she was amazing and deserves 10 stars! My Oncologist ordered an EKG in preparation for surgery. Pima Heart and Vascular scheduling called me on 1/2/24 to tell me when and where to go for EKG. Turns out, such tests are done on walk-in basis at 4729 E. Camp Lowell, Tucson, AZ, between 8:00am-4:00pm. So, on 1/3/24 I arrived at 11:30 am for EKG, not a soul waiting in the lobby, I waited for 1 of 4 front desk staff to assist me. After a few minutes of waiting, a young lady acknowledged me and stated "someone will be with you shortly". Nice touch! NOTE: Staff was preparing their lunch order as I waited. Discussing the menu and their meal preferences. "Estella" appeared extremely bothered, beyond annoyed that she had to assist me and merely held up a few fingers in the air just slightly above her monitor to wave me over, but without a peep. As directed by the sign on the front door, I provided Estella with my insurance card and identification. Estella told me that I did not exist in their system and insisted that I pay $49 "because you don't have a doctor at Pima Heart". I inquired about the odd amount and she told me I could not have the test without paying the random $49. I paid it! In addition, it's 2024 and I was not issued a PAPER "order" for EKG as my Oncologist submits all requests or "orders" for tests electronically. Estella hounded me for a paper form which I did not have. Needless to say, I sat in the lobby ALONE, no other patients in sight. After 23 minutes, the tech called me back and performed the EKG and when I asked how she would do the test without the order she chuckled and stated "It's right here in your chart" Good God! I do have a chart after the way Estella treated me. The struggle to get past the front desk and make it to the exam room was so uncalled for. A few weeks later (post surgery) I attempted to file a claim with CIGNA on my own and requested an itemized statement for services. Pima Heart sent me an invoice - ready for this???? it was addressed to MY ADDRESS with a different patients name, fees and services. When I called to inquire, all they could say was "please shred that". To this day I still have not received a statement in my name. Long story longer.... today is 7/8/24 and still awaiting resolution. At least 2 office manager's have come and gone. Never received a call back from either during their short time there. This test is actually covered by my insurance and CIGNA is now assisting me with this dilemma because Pima Heart never filed a claim with CIGNA. $49 is an odd amount, not a co-pay amount, seems very suspicious - so random! Pima Heart and Vascular needs to be exposed as my family and friends have NOTHING good to say about this shady and pathetic practice. I am absolutely discouraged and angry with Pima Heart & Vascular. I assume that they are short staffed or just idiots. I received a phone call two business days before my appointment : "The tech can't come in on Monday, but we see that you have a follow up. Can you come in at 8AM instead?" I assumed (kindly) that they think I live in Tucson. I scheduled this appointment many months ago, and they called me two business days beforehand to cancel. I live 3 hours away, and had to change my work schedule and arranged for a place to stay in Tucson. I don't know what the "tech" was supposed to do; I don't know what the "follow-up" appointment was for, so I tried to call back. I was too late to call them on Thursday, but tried to answer them on Friday around 1:30 (to find out what I should do). I got the auto message, "Please leave a message & we'll call you back during regular business hours". My call should have been well within regular business hours, but they must have gone out early to the bar on Friday or they're short-handed or they just don't care. I basically cannot connect with them at all, so I will at least complain on Yelp! I'm very disappointed with Pima Heart & Vascular. Don't use this business, unless they improve.
