On one hand, I can see that technically I could have communicated more clearly about the issues I was having with the medication. I could've saved the number that called me when I had contact that one time. Looking back, some of it seems like it could have been simple, like just saying more directly what I was experiencing. I can kind of imagine someone else maybe would've handled it differently. But at the same time, I'm realizing that I wasn't really given clear instructions on what exactly to track or how to measure symptoms. She told me a few things to watch out for, but emotions and side effects can look different for everybody--and that was never really acknowledged or broken down. There wasn't much guidance on what counted as "serious" or what to do if I wasn't sure. It felt like I was expected to just know how to handle all of it, and I didn't. Part of me feels kind of stupid because now that I'm on the other side of it, I can see some things I maybe could've done. But my logical side knows that this was all new to me, and I did the best I could with the support I had--which honestly wasn't a lot. I wasn't given tools, I wasn't offered follow-up until I pushed for it, and when I did try to express myself, I felt like I was being brushed off or talked down to. At one point she even made a mocking face when I asked a genuine question. That really made me feel small. I don't want to just sit in blame, either way. I want to understand what healthy accountability looks like for both me and a provider in a situation like this--because I do want to be someone who communicates clearly and takes care of my health. But I also want to feel safe and respected when I do. Right now, I just feel confused, a little embarrassed, and frustrated. Though I do have to say, Senami still has experience with medication, and gives basic starter medications, so it's not like she's going hay wire, this was just my experience because of my reactions to the medications.

Honestly, I was extremely resistant - I didn't want to see a therapist, I didn't want to talk through issues, and I really didn't think CBT would help at all with my sleeping problems. I finally gave in, agreeing to "time box" the sessions to 10 weeks, just to give it a shot and see if it would help. After my first session with Amy, my wife and I both noticed improvements in my ability to fall asleep, my quality of sleep, and my overall mood and energy because of my sleep, within just a couple of days. Fast forward several months later, including multiple weeks of seeing Amy more than once a week. The 10 week "time box" is obviously well past, and I've begun to allow Amy and her expertise into more of my life and to help me deal with even more issues in my life, from being a better husband, father, employee, and just a better person in general. To be completely honest, I really wanted to not like seeing a therapist, and frankly, not like Amy. But now, I can't imagine my life without seeing Amy and having her help me through things, give me my homework, and help me to learn that I can work through mental hurdles with various strategies she's taught me. Amy has always been available - she's very prompt to return phone calls and even text messages when I have needed her, has been very flexible to work around my schedule, and genuinely cares about me and my family. If you're looking for a great therapist and someone who will care about you, get to know you, and take time for you, I highly recommend Amy. She's helped more than my sleep, she's changed my life and sticking with her past 10 weeks has been the best decision I've made in a long time.

I have had a lot of issues with them getting insurance approval for medication and treatment. One…read moreincident occured where they never got the approval after years of therapy; they said we owed them thousands of dollars because of something that they never did. Many phone calls later we got them to approve it finally. On another occasion they couldn't get my medication approved because they said we never gave them any insurance information. So how have I been getting my insurance to help cover the bills all these years? Did they just lose my info or something? I'll never know I suppose. Always issues with the billing and customer service. The therapists and psychiatrists are lovely, but I cannot handle much more of their inability to manage the financial aspects.
