They now had laid turf on the playground replacing the old wood chips and sand that used to be there with the old playground. The playground set has four slides, plenty of climbing areas on and off the set, a balancing walk area and sensory play as well. There are four swings-two bucket seats and two regular seats. I like that it's very clean, well lit and in a quiet neighborhood area away from the busy roads. I know some locals also run through the park which now with the water bottle filling station makes it a convenient stop to rest with some benches. There is also an open field in the back for kids or adults to play ball or picnicking. There is a hill to get down into the park, so it is wheelchair accessible and those parents with strollers or wagons can easily get around. Parking is only street parking and I've never had to walk far to get into the park. I would highly recommend this park.

Operating on donations and community funds to share love and respect for nature to all. I've been coming here since I was 10, when they had the other space, and I'm happy to see they have renovated! All of the animals are very cared for. For those who say the animals are confined to a small space, I want to let you know that they aren't. They're taken out both in the mornings before opening, and in the afternoon after they're closed to the public. The birds are not let out during typical business hours for the most part because of the risk of them flying away hence the locked entrance which requires you to ring a doorbell. This is only for their safety, but be assured that they are happy! If they weren't they would definitely show signs of distress like plucking or other nervous behaviors. You can go in and get a free tour, get shown animals and even have the opportunity to pet some of the guinea pigs for example. I believe this is such a vital part of the Queens community. The staff take good care of the surrounding trails, and even have food drives and clothes drives for the community. Wonderful place to visit always.

During warmer weather, you will see everything from tai-chi classes, yoga, zumba, volleyball, soccer, bird watching, Frisbee etc. This is a great meeting location for all that love the outdoors and being active. The NYC Parks Department usually list all the activities on their website. Also a good spot for barbecuing or picnicking. The grills and tables are provided.

It is in pretty good condition, and while it is geared toward a younger audience, there's something for everyone. The equipment includes some ladders, slides, and monkey bars. There are some swings, mostly geared toward younger kids. There's a water pad that's in decent condition. When school isn't in session, there are also tennis courts, squash courts, basketball court, a baseball diamond (on cement)... they are all not in the best shape, but they're certainly usable. I've seen kids and adult groups using them all. There are also some benches and tables if you want to rest, play a chess (chess boards embedded within the table tops), or eat. Down a level are some very overgrown bocce ball courts - they almost feel like relics and aren't quite usable. But there are also more places to walk or sit. And bathrooms!

Todays visit to the Community Center in Syosset Woodbury Park had an Hour long Holiday Magic…read morepresentation by the Silver Songbirds. ( see pix) For those who might be using a GPS be aware once entering the park to make aright turn and follow to the back parking lot where the Center is. The group was lead by Susan Lilli's - Conductor & Narrator. They sang a variety of holiday songs and did a few skits, also handing out candy canes to the audience. "Nancy" played the drum for " Little drummer boy". They ended with "Auld Lang Syne wishing the audience good holidays and Happy New Year. In the back there were a few snacks for the sharing. The building itself has some children's decor, a display of wall tiles and a little Christmas tree in the hall.
