This is a nice park in the town of East Meadow in Long Island, NY. In the past, my children enjoyed going in the pool here during summer time. The park also offers swim lessons. The playground area is simple and can easily be upgraded which will make it more enjoyable. read more

I went today with the kids. Plenty of parking for the pool. I love the kiddie pool area which was less than 2 ft. The big pool has shallow sides on both ends. Theres a lot of shaded seating if you are there to watch the kids. Price pic attached. read more

This park has somewhat modest facilities - most importantly it has a large public pool. Recently, we visited the park because it was the final stop on the East Meadow Memorial Day Parade, and it was perfect for that occasion. Parade vehicles (minus the fire engines) landed in the very large parking lot, and there was plenty of good cheer. It should be noted that a number of pictures here do not show the park on Prospect Avenue, but do show the Veterans Memorial at Eisenhow Park, 2 miles to the north. read more

Such a nice and serene place to just soak up the sun and connect to Mother Nature. Bring a picnic blanket and some chair to enjoy the lake view. I've seen ppl with tables set up for a small lawn party. Paved road all around the lake. Big and open field for some sports. Ducks and,if you're lucky you'll see, the turtles sunbathing on the side of the lake too. The memorial place and overall park is clean, even the bathroom. Great tribute to 9/11 memorial with the World Trade Center buildings. read more

I've only been to this park to play handball.. It's my alternative destination when Speno Park is dead. It's conveniently located right next to the East Meadows Post Office..plenty of residential parking nearby. It's fairly big, with a large enclosed area for basketball. Basketball courts are almost always packed. Handball courts are clean, and well maintained, although I don't really like the surfaces, which are somewhat rocky; I like smooth pavement-like surfaces, which are optimal for the sport. Speno Park, on the other hand, has these smooth surfaces. However, what Speno Park lacks, and Veterans Memorial has... A POOL!!! LOLL I don't really know the specifics, but I asked a couple of residents and they said it's open to the public.. or at least to residents of Hempstead.. Has a fee of about $130 for the whole summer.. or if you just wanna come for a swim once in a while, it's like $10 for a day..something like that..which is pretty good. Pool is well maintained and has active life guards. And what I noticed in most public parks in Long Island...and NOT in parks in Queens or the boroughs.. At night, they have these tall stadium lights that illuminate the basketball courts and handball courts!! :D read more

Finally came back here today w/ kiddies after 2 yrs... not crowded at all.. water looks clean. Normally it's packed here.. They even added new kiddie playground area... will try to come again when it's not too crowded. read more

The place has really taken a dive from its "Hay Day" - Despite the silly comments that are here, the park is run well; But - its old & is in desperate need of repair. The neighborhood has changed; especially the "Dynamic" of the community - The "Die Hard Meadow Crew" isn't around anymore. Where is the community pride? Don't know where all the locals live? But - overall its a great place to take a dip. Way too many little kids running around, not sure why they aren't in the kiddy section. read more

I grew up down the block from this swimming pool, spending many Saturday afternoons here, and I even recall hosting a birthday party or 2. I recently came back to swim laps on a weekday evening. It's all just about the same as I remember. $8 per person entrance fee for the day for residents (and I think $9 for non residents). There's some run down locker rooms and bathrooms. And a concession stand with a small eating area (that was closed in the evening, however I remember eating lots of ice cream and French fries from here when I was younger). The swimming pool is fairly large, with a pretty large recreation area. There's only about 6 lap lanes. Even on a Tuesday evening at 7pm they were almost full. There's 2 short and 1 tall diving boards that I remember having lots of fun on as a kid. There's a bunch of lounge chairs and other plastic chairs based on first come first serve basis, some in the shade and they can be moved around a bit. Overall it was nice to get an outdoor lap swim in, although I personally think $8 for a drop in lap swim visit in a bit pricey. read more

The pool is the main attraction here. Great for families and accommodates all level of swimmers. Everything was clean but my reason with giving it 1 star is because the atmosphere and attitude amongst the staff, mainly in the office, is quite filthy and a complete turnoff, truly a feeling of unwelcome-ness! I'm newer to the East meadow community so I ventured out with my 7 yr old son and 6 month old and husband. During this Covid 19 season, understandably everyone wants to stay safe and take necessary precautions. But, upon trying to enter as an obvious family unit, I presented my photo ID, but my husband didn't have his because we thought one would be sufficient. Immediately, the older lady at the front window comments that all adults have to present an ID or they cannot enter. Meanwhile, no where is it posted that every adult has to show an ID, nor was I told that when I called the day before. So my son throws a tantrum, that daddy can't enter, but he really wants to go in. I ended up entering alone with my son. The lady was pretty unsympathetic and could care less whether we entered and personally I felt that she would rather us NOT enter. The pool was NOT crowded... barely 15 ppl. Thanks to the older lady at the front who robbed my son of his time with his dad and couldn't accommodate or make an exception for our family. I will add that I am not white, but the staff all was and really made me and my family feel like we just didn't belong. The lady at the front could've decided to cut us some slack, but chose not to. This was my pool experience and my interaction with the East Meadow community. Really a horrific reality of how ppl treat each other and how some who are privileged take pride and joy in keeping others out or down. I will NOT be returning to this pool. read more

Don't make the mistake of buying a season's pass - not a place for adults who like to read; there is no shade or sitting area. Pool filled with screeching banshees and their keepers who are bussed in and who continually jump into pool - a fractured skull waiting to happen. No shade or place in pool for adults. Terrible! Unreliable! If you're a part of the tourism group (which is a section of encouragement on their website) DO NOT GO! My family and I made a couple of trips out here and paid our non residence fee to enter. Today my sister and I drove for an hour to get to this pool and were rudely greeted by an older female who right away asked us our town of residency and told her we were out of residence and that we we're paying the out of town rate as usual. She quickly cut us off and said we weren't allowed in because we were not of residency. She did not care that we drove over an hour with a 6 month old baby, she did not care that we went countless times and paid the non residence fee nor that the price listing on the window clearly stated a different price for non residence. She just rudely said if you're not of residence you're not getting in and closed the window in our face. Mind you the pool is pretty empty today and we were only four people, two of which were children. She could have at least shown some sympathy. She didn't even want to open the window again when we wanted to ask her another question. RUDE! I guess they're selective of the groups that come in depending on what you look like because my brother comes here all of the time but he is the lighter of the siblings. Never coming here again. read more
