Best haircut experience ever. I was looking at Yelp this morning for a haircut that was more convenient and hopefully open early, when I stumbled across this gem just down the street. I walked down and everyone was outside with their dogs taking a quick break. Troy came over and introduced himself and took care of me. It was the best haircut I believe I've ever had. He took his time and really paid attention to the details, without needing to be asked. He blended everything well, really took extra time trying to tame my cow-lick, and even took care of the little straggler hairs that pop up (yes young people - it's gonna happen and you'll thank Troy as you get older!). But the best part was just the relaxed atmosphere . Friends kept popping in to say hello. They offered me coffee. Their dogs were incredibly sweet and friendly. Everyone was well spoken and just went out of their way to be polite. I don't write a lot of reviews - only when I find something that I think is really special and worthy. I was excited to go here as it's really close to where I live, so I thought I could maybe drop by while walking my dog. I read the great reviews and saw how personable and polite the employees have been, and in a few of the reviews people have mentioned dogs. Now they prefer you book online, but I recently lost my wallet and I can't book online without a card. I dropped by while walking my dog with some cash in my pocket around an open booking time I saw online. I cracked the door and saw three dogs and asked, "Is it ok if my dog comes in too?" To my surprise, they immediately said, "No we already have three dogs in here." My dog is super chill and the three dogs even came up to her and things were fine. I then asked if they have an open slot soon, and before I finished asking they immediately referred me to book online. Weird because it says they take walkins and it was my intention to get a haircut ASAP. Anyways, I didn't want to border the doorway as the barber handed me a card to go online, so I came in a little further and the other barber rudely scoffed and said, "Get that dog out of here, why would you even ask?" Both barbers had people in their chairs and they just wanted me and my dog to leave. Needless to say, the first impression was the complete opposite from what I've read online, I placed their business card on the chair and told them to have a good day. Also, it's important to note that I did call them to clarify the price, dog friendliness, and availability, but the line just tells you to book on the website. I'm so disappointed because the experience presented so well online. read more

A man searches for two things in life. A good woman and a good barber. I found my barber in Ronnel back in 2009 when he was at Rudy's on Phinney Ridge. The bromance was instant. I followed him when he left for the Roosevelt Barber shop and I've followed him now as he open's up his own place at Central Barber. I don't have the easiest hair to cut and Ronnel always gives it the proper care and attention to detail. He's also quick to listen to the latest in my life and to debate about sports or music. He is exactly what a man needs in a barber. If you don't have YOUR barber, I suggest you make the trip to Central Barber and sit in Ronnel's chair. I work for an assisted living facility in the neighborhood. At one point we had a barber coming in twice a month to do haircuts but due to funding, we lost the ability to provide that service to our residents. We approached the guys at Central Barber Shop and asked about any kind of senior discount they could offer. Our residents do not have a lot of money to spend so we try to find them any savings we can. The guys at the barbershop didn't think that a simple discount would be sufficient, so the offered to do free haircuts for our residents once a month. The staff at central Barber Shop saw a need, and rose to the challenge. Not only do they provide great haircuts, the shop is owned and ran by generous, kind, and all around stand up guys.
