It's a bit hidden. I heard about it and when i looked it up it seemed easy to get to, but the adoption center threw me off and i passed right by it. I guess i expected to see the park right off the road. It was a great overall visit. There wasn't poop everywhere as i expected. A few dogs were in the wrong enclosure but they got along with the dogs of smaller or bigger size. Overall a great first trip.

Awesome park, our go-to. Normally filled with pups of all kinds. People respect aggressiveness rules and leave it needed.

So far so good. I appreciate the separation of small and large dogs, as well as there being 2 options for large dogs. We went Saturday and again tonight (Monday) and we enjoyed ourselves. The people were friendly and attentive to their dogs. The poop bags and station were full on Saturday afternoon and were still full on Monday so not sure when they empty the trash. I brought my own bags so that wasn't a problem.

We (my dog Nova and I) went to this dog park again today. Nova had loads of fun. Ran and ran and ran. We will definitely return to play another day

The dog park has ample parking for your car and friend when taking them here. Almost all of the times I been here, there were really only 3 or 4 other people here. The park has clean restrooms onsite also with a water fountain. There are 2 large dog parks for large dogs as well as 2 large parks for the small fellows as well. All 4 parks are covered with green luscious grass and just about a tree every 5 feet you walk. So please don't worry about not having shade because you're literally surrounded by the best shade there possibly is and the great open outdoors. All the parks have benches to sit at, as well as cement bricks for resting. There are multiple water fountains in each park, disbursing water from the bottom for your friend as well. They also have doggie bags and trash cans inside the parks too! Every time I been here, all the dogs seemed properly behaved, and they definitely knew how to chase and play. I really enjoyed taking my best friend here and getting her all worked up outside and having fun while socializing with other companions. I'll definitely be back and become a regular here because Wooo Hooo, this is as good as it gets!

I have a German Shepherd, a Doberman and a Puggle. I take all of them to the big dog side and have never had any issues. People are always so friendly, it's a ginormous park with some agility equipment towards the back, 2 water stations, It's pretty clean so you don't have to constantly look where you're walking for land mines - nice! Plenty of seating so it accommodates a lot of people without feeling crowded. Covered picnic tables, benches under the trees and along the fence lines. They always leave there totally exhausted which is why I take them to begin with. Like everywhere else it does get and stays muddy after a good rain storm but they do have a wash off station right outside of the gate so bring a towel, it's nothing fancy for sure but it does the job. I did see a couple of scuffles but like all good parents they immediately separated them and then they saw the aggressor and his daddy took him home for a time out. Okay, the only reason for the 4 star- a random guy commented on my dogs and when I asked him which dog was his he said he didn't have one, he just liked to come and watch everyone else's. I was getting ready to leave soon anyway so it just kicked me into high gear. It just seemed off, maybe he really liked dogs and I read too much into it????

There are lots of places to picnic, swim, launch your boat and more. As for the campsites themselves, they could really use some TLC. The pavement where you park is crumbling (saw this on all the sites), roads coming in are rough and bumpy so go slow. It looks like they haven't cut the grass in ages. For our site, the grass is mid-shin high and you have to "wade" through it to get to the picnic table. Our site is just wide enough and long enough for our 40' RV and Jeep. The sites are pretty private with trees in between each site.

Driving up to the ranger booth, there was a lot of room to weights similar to national parks where multiple lines could form to get into the park. It was easy to pay the admission fee and we were given a park map that showed us what hikes were available and where they were. On there, they also had annotations on what amenities were available, including a former homestead that they had preserved. We ended up hiking the Talala Trail, which was a little over 2 miles. There wasn't much parking available at the trailhead, about 8 to 10 parking spaces available. This particular trail gradually went down towards the lake and back up as a loop but there is no water access when we went, the leaves still had it formed on the trees and shrubs, so there was clear visibility to which direction we were going I would imagine that there would be a bit more shade during the summer months, though the shrubs didn't seem like they were very tall. We thought the views from the Talala Trail were okay, but the views from the day use areas were better. One picnic area seemed to have lake access but we couldn't be sure how shallow or deep the water was up against the shore since we didn't try to go in. We did see that they had three mountain biking trails and we saw many mountain bikers in the area. They also had some fishing docks along the lake. Unfortunately, though, all the water fountains were turned off when we were there so we weren't able to refill our water bottles. We did check out their gift shop, which wasn't very big, but they still had a decent selection of gifts to purchase. As with any other Texas State park, they have their own park stamp just like the national parks passport program which I personally enjoy collecting. All in all, we enjoyed our time here and we were able to get a good hike. This park is situated in a hilly area of the DFW metroplex which allows for scenic views and more variation to trail options.
