The park here is great. Split into large and small dog sides and there always seems to be some dogs there when I've gone. There's also access to a portion of the lake if you want to give your dog some swim time. The only downside is parking. Sometimes The parking lot next to the dog park is full and can be annoying to get in and out of. read more

An excellent Dog Park for dogs that love the water! This is a large, fairly secure fenced in dog park with access to a lake for water loving dogs! There is shade and benches. There is also a water fountain for dogs and the humans. There is lots of parking and is somewhat easy to get to off Mockingbird. What city closes its main dog park for the entire month of July (one of the busiest months)? Dallas, of course! This city is an expert in charging First World taxes and delivering Third World services. this dog park is great overall. my dogs love it and i take them once or twice a week. never had any issues with the people that take their dogs there, some people don't watch their dogs enough and some dogs try to attack others and the owners don't discipline them. so if i were you just keep an eye on your pup. some people don't pick up their dogs poop, so i wouldn't wear nice shoes or clothes bc dogs jump and their sometimes is poop. other than that the dog park is huge and i love taking my dogs their. i haven't had any major issues with the dog park as a whole. there is a place for humans and dogs to get water and there is shaded sitting areas. i bring my own bowl bc sometimes the dog one is stopped up. read more

I have been coming to White Rock for years, both for the dog park and to run around the lake. Overall, it is such a great place to get outdoors (and burn off some of my puppy's energy). That being said, there's a serious crime problem going on right now and visitors need to beware. I went to the dog park yesterday (12/19/2020) and was there for approx. 30 minutes (11:05 - 11:30 am) and during that time my car was broken into and all contents from the backseat stolen. My guess is that someone was watching as I pulled up, saw me put my bag in the back (I have heavily tinted windows and it was under the dog seat protector so not in view when looking in), then broke in as soon as I was into the park. When coming out it looked like a minimum of 3 other cars next to mine were also broken into during the same time frame. After getting the police report filed it sounded like there was 7 reported break-ins at White Rock yesterday and that daily number has been growing over the last few weeks. For the time being, I do not think I will be returning to the park until the crime rate starts going down (or security cameras are added). Something needs to be done to address this issue for me to be comfortable going there again. read more

This park made me want to have a dog again. I visited the White Rock Lake Dog Park on a busy Sunday morning when all 3 enclosed areas were bustling with variety of breeds running and having the time of their life. There are three wrought-iron, fenced areas: 1 enclosed area for dogs over 30 pounds, 1 enclosed area for dogs under 30 pounds, and 1 enclosed beach for all dogs wanting to swim. The big and small dog areas had grass, benches, trees and bags for encouraging people to pick up after their pups. The double gated, entry system to all three areas prevented any dogs from bolting out of the park and allowed owners a safe buffer area where they could leash/unleash their dog. My one pet peeve (pun intended) was that the gate locking mechanism is a bit heavy and awkward, and felt laborious especially since you have to go through so many gates. I loved that the beach area was fenced on the land and that there was a floating water barrier that prevented the dogs from swimming off into the rest of the lake. The beach is actually a concrete surface which means you don't have to deal with mud or buckets of sand upon your return home. There appeared to be some concrete blocks in the water near the beach entry where the dogs and people could sit or stand. When the dog days of summer are upon you, grab your pooch and head to the White Rock Lake Dog Park for a romp in the shade and a dip in the lake to cool off. You'll be happy you did when your pooped pup passes out catching some Zzzs for the rest of the day. read more

Time to update my review. We have now moved to a new area of Dallas, and this is our go-to dog park. Having been a few times more now, I will say that the small dog park is pretty great-lots of grass, good pet parents-our babies always have a great time! Also, since we foster dogs as well, and some of them can't come into the dog park due to behavior or heart worm treatment, it is a great place for one of us to walk the foster while our two dogs get to play in the park. With the gravel addition to the parking lot, we have never had issues with parking even when busy. Still pretty meh about the big dog park though... read more

White Rock Lake Dog Park. What can I say. We evacuated from hurricane Harvey from Houston to Dallas and stayed at an amazing pet-friendly hotel. The dog park was recommended to us by a waitress so we decided to check it out. Driving up to the area was wonderful. We were staying in the LoveField area, and the drive wasn't all that bad. We went twice during our stay, which was perfect for our little guy (he's 60 pounds of pure muscle but whatever). This was perfect for him being that he was in a hotel with little room to play. The people are amazing, and so friendly. We have a bullybreed dog and despite that they didn't seem to care or even acknowledge this. We met so many great people and dogs there. It was the perfect spot to make us feel at home during such a difficult time. Take your dog here. He will love it. There's a small dog area, large dog area, and an area for swimming :) read more

Underwhelming to say the least. I've always seen posts of this place online, and most pictures I see are of the lake so of course it looks nice! However the actual dog park is not pleasing. There's a walking trail surrounding the large dog park, but it's pretty thin and people always stand in the way. The grass is not maintained (at least the day I went) so it stands tall - and my Gosh people do not pick up after their dogs here! I saw piles more than I can count on my hand, and I saw two dogs go without them being picked up.. To say the least, there are better parks. read more

My dog loves it. It has a ramp for dogs to play in the lake. But my dog is too small for that. The small dog section has plenty of benches that are covered. Sometimes it's hard to get in and out of the parking lot. But other than that, it's a fine place to let the dogs play. read more

The people that bring their dogs here do not take into account if their dogs are friendly with other dogs. I have brought my golden retriever here twice now and both times he was attacked by other dogs. One of the dogs grabbed him by the neck and threw him on his back. The owner wouldn't step in because she said her dog would bite her. If your dog is going to bite people or attack other dogs, they should not be at a dog park. There was another man that intervened and this woman's dog bit him. There are other parks with better owners who are able to assess their dog's behavior around other dogs. read more

Dallas is lacking in dog parks. Because of the limited number of free gated dog space, this is one we come back to over and over. On a sunny Sunday the parking is extreme...get ready to go off road! The park is plenty big. There is a gated small and big dog area. The water loving dogs go nuts for the water play area. My lil guy doesn't dare go near water but he does live to run around and makes tons of furiends. There is water available and plenty of doggie bags to clean up. While I do think most people will clean up after their dogs, they are running around and you miss it sometimes. I'd like if there was a public restroom and maybe a concession stand or soda / water machine. read more

I've taken my lil guy to one other dog park in town and it was nice but didn't have much to offer. This is a TRUE dog park! There are plenty of shaded benches in each park for us, humans, to relax while our puppies play & a picnic bench area as soon as you exit the parking lot. In addition to the multiple fenced in grass areas, a part of the lake is also blocked off & available for dogs to fetch, swim & play within boundaries! This area is more so for the older, bigger & more experienced dog rather than a puppy. Definite doggie wet zone. VERY busy on Saturdays! read more

Really nice place, me and my girlfriend went on the back side of the park to go fishing and the had to walk through to get to our destination. It was actually a really nice place, the dogs were all well trained and not chasing people, although a huskie did take a liking to my fish and wanted to look into the bucket it was an overall nice place. We took our four legged money pit known as Shadow (we love him, really) to WRL Dog Park last Saturday to give him some room to run. After all, there isn't much space to work on his escape moves in my condo. Parking was easy-breezy. We must have caught it on the right part of they day (it was a million degrees outside), because very few people were there. Most were over by the water, so we took Shadow down there to play. Being the scarety cat that he is, he wouldn't jump the two feet down into the water off of the end of the old boat ramp. Instead, he found a little trail on the side that went down in the murky waves. I noticed a lot of owners were throwing objects and their *normal* dogs were playing fetch. Everyone seemed to understand the common law with dogs and water: you're going to get wet, you're going to be in the way of their playing, and all of the dogs are going to come sniff your dog's butt. It was a well controlled area and everyone seemed at ease. When Shadow was done with the water (he is a dainty one), we took him over to the big dog area to play. I noticed that a guy had his overly aggressive dog on a leash coming out of the big dog area, and was trying to take him home...and it made me wonder, why would you bring an aggressive dog to a popular dog park? I noticed that the park is very well gated and multiple entrances prevent someone from getting loose, which is nice. We were the only ones in the big dog area, so Shadow ran around for a while but then got bored because he didn't have any butts to sniff. Darn. Me likes WRL Dog Park and it looks like Shadow did too. It's just not very exciting for owners, so bring a book and prepare to chill so your dog can have a good time. read more

I know what you're thinking right now. It's cool. There's enough of me to go around. But hey I might be out for a few weeks, the owner's taking me in to get some work done, seems their going to fix a few things downstairs, if you know what I'm talking about, wink, wink. I think you do. Alright! Guess I should talk about the park; they got it all, fresh water, a vending machine full of the latest dog toys, plenty of parking. Oh dog park close to my house... My pooch loved this place as soon as we battled through parking and barking furry faces out of windows. As soon as she ran into the big dog park (30 lbs and up), she was immediately joined by tons of bottom sniffers for some running, barking and general puppy play. The area for larger dogs is huge and was enough space for seemed like the millions of dogs that showed up with their owners this Sunday. There are plenty of benches for you to park it, just know some dogs don't have manors once they get around other dogs, so be careful if you bring any food. ;) The only down side to the park was there was no water for the dogs to drink from. They had water stations set up but no water would flow. If you have a small dog under 30 lbs there's a nicely sized dog park for them, too. Word to the wise...come early or in off hours because parking can suck. I had to park on the gravel lot and was lucky enough to get there in time to still have some dry spots where no mud existed. Oh, and if it rains, you might want to do a drive by first to make sure it's open. Because, unlike most other dog parks, they have the ability to shut down the park if it floods. read more

I love this park and my husky does too! It's the only one I think it's worth driving to. We mostly used the large dog side and it's very big, there's water, etc. They also have a side with access to the lake so the dogs can go swim or just play in the water. In my opinion is a really good park for your doggies and the view to the lake is nice! read more

Hey Yelpers! Olof, the Yelp Tulsa dog here. I am happy to report I'm a fan of this place. Mom and I were exploring around the lake and I tried my best to paddle board with her when we spotted an enormous amount of tennis balls in a gated area. We walked over and through a couple gates to a land of friends just for me! There were two areas, one for smaller dogs, and the other for larger dogs like me. Playing fetch is not my jam, but it was funny to watch mom throw tennis balls then try to get me to be interested. I was most interested in sniffing around the park and other dogs in the park. Some dogs stayed on leashes but most were playing off the chain! The park was clean and there were bags available if nature called to me. The space was just the right size to where mom could keep an eye on me while she sat on the park bench but big enough for me to feel like I was on an adventure. Every human and dog was just so happy and kind. I can't wait to go back and make more friends! Woof Woof. Olof read more

This is now officially the best dog park in Dallas! After several months of renovation, it finally re-opened on June 6 and it is beautiful! There are triple gates going into the dog areas so that you can be sure that your pooch doesn't escape into the parking lot.The large dog park has been expanded and has covered benches for you relax while your dog romps around. They've added water fountains for humans and pooch as well as a concrete sidewalk circling the lawn, which is a nice touch since the old park used to get really muddy anytime it rained. I was also pleased to see so many people picking up after their pets - the trash can was overflowing with poop bags after 2 days of use! But it was nice because it shows how much people care about maintaining the park. The best part of the park is the dog pavilion that stretches into the lake. Granted, the water has been quite brown lately due to all the mud that's stirred up from the recent flooding, but that did not stop the dogs, both big and small, from splashing nose-first into the lake. This was really well-designed since the pavilion has concrete steps going down into the water and extends into a gentle slope.This is great for the smaller/scaredy dogs who could gradually get their paws wet and see their first few steps before committing to a big splash. read more

Hubby and I have been here several times with a portion of our pack and they absolutely love getting to run around in the expansive yard, and we appreciate that the fence is high enough that our greyhounds can't jump it. I also like that they separate small dogs from big dogs, cause sometimes they're not small dog friendly. It's a great spot with normally friendly people who care about their dogs and pick up after them. What keeps them from 5 stars are the not so great people. I know it's hard to control but some people have aggressive dogs, (we have one and we leave her at home on these playdates) but other dog owners are not as considerate. We've seen some fights break out there, especially because of the neutered vs. non-neutered aggression. It could also use an investment of some new sod so there is less mud! Overall though it's conveniently located and makes for a great stop to give your pooches room to stretch their legs and make some friends and I definitely recommend it!! read more

White Rock Lake Dog Park has been wonderful for my little one, before I even get to the turn, he knows we are there so he can enjoy all the other dogs his size. He loves to run and walk laps pee and poop and waddle around and follow girl dogs even though it's a flirt thing Lol! This is the best for park I've ever been to and I frequent dog parks every city I visit. White rock hard large dog small dog and storage area with access to the Lake! And lots of seating. Much of the seating is covered and shady so it's a great place to go train or shine. Nice people clean park shady and a variety of wonderful dog breeds. I tend to go here when its so warm that I know my dog will need to take dips in the lake every few minutes. I normally park near the Big Thicket (the entrance past the Dog Park) so that we can walk across the nice long bridge. By the time we get to the dog park she is ready to jump in and cool off. Then we walk a little bit around the area, and she takes another swim. One more walk across the bridge for her to dry off and we head home. Before I knew that the Deep Ellum dog park existed I would come here and would always get frustrated and leave. I came back to the actual dog park yesterday and realized why I hadn't been in so long. It appears this is the dog park people take their new dogs to to see if they can be around other dogs. I have NO PROBLEM with pit bulls, my dog plays with them at the Deep Ellum dog park weekly, but at the White Rock Park it seems they are never spayed or neutured, and this causes issues. Also, the new pet owners that are 'experimenting' at the White Rock Dog Park tend to keep their dogs on leash. You can not have some dogs on a leash in a dog park and some dogs not on a leash. I know these things that make this dog park less desirable are the pet owners fault, and not the pet. I was inside the park for about 5 minutes yesterday before I left. There were a group of teenagers with two pit bulls (both un-neutered males) and a woman with a puppy pit bull. The puppy wouldn't stop nipping my dogs face and after enough times my dog finally snapped and showed teeth. The girl thought it was funny. I asked her if she had ever been to a dog park and she said no, she 'bought' the puppy that day. I immediately left. I'll continue to go to White Rock Dog Park for the use of the broken boat ramp and water play, but I'll never again go into the actual park. Ive given them six years of chances, and I can't trust the people that use that park any longer. read more

Not bad. Not bad. Of course depending on the day and time that you decide to go. Early evening is quiet. Saturday and Sunday mornings.. Lots of people.. Sometimes these folks even bring in their own chairs. Gets crowded. At any rate, it's pretty spacious. Lots of room for the doggies to play. Key points, be mindful of your pet.. Even if other owners don't. I have seen dog owners on a few occasion that don't pick up after their pet.. Instead their busy being on the phone. I have even notice that are certain dog owners.. We not acting like owners.. They just allow their dig to run around free.. Which makes sense, you're in an enclosed space .. But not when the dog is being aggressive .. ANYWHO.. Just left the dog park. We haven't been to this one in years, it's nice to see all the improvements they've made. They have an area just for dogs who want to play in the lake. They also have the large and small sections too. But I have one big negative..... the irresponsable dog owners. There's lots of poo that isn't being picked up, it's even all over the sidewalks leading to the parks entry. There are signs everywhere as well as poo bag stations and still poo everywhere. The parks were remodeled and re-opened in June 2015. Simply put, they did an excellent job! There are three....yes THREE different parks for your fur baby ! The first is a mid size park with a very nice, stone "beach" launch area for the pooches that love water sports. It's really nice here, even for the doggy parents. The second is a large space reserved just for the small dogs, that may get taken advantage of by the bigger ones. The third park is for large dogs, but this is a massive space and I saw dogs of all sizes playing throughout the space, with room to spare! They have triple gates, making entry and exit secure at each area. There are plenty of trees and sitting space for the humans. Parking seems tight...but even on the grand opening day I was able to find a space close by. I give this four stars reluctantly....the park is excellent with great amenities ...but some people are just not considerate, and people make part of a space. Unfortunately , with plenty of free bags there, people don't watch and pick up after their pets! On the very first day....there were "land mines" to avoid ...really people?? The only other issue is those excellent gates....three, as you recall I mentioned....but people didn't seem to get the concept, so I often saw ALL THREE open at once, which of course defeats the purpose . So, park with dogs...excellent! Add people to the mix and you get four stars! read more
