this dog park is great overall. my dogs love it and i take them once or twice a week. never had any issues with the people that take their dogs there, some people don't watch their dogs enough and some dogs try to attack others and the owners don't discipline them. so if i were you just keep an eye on your pup. some people don't pick up their dogs poop, so i wouldn't wear nice shoes or clothes bc dogs jump and their sometimes is poop. other than that the dog park is huge and i love taking my dogs their. i haven't had any major issues with the dog park as a whole. there is a place for humans and dogs to get water and there is shaded sitting areas. i bring my own bowl bc sometimes the dog one is stopped up.

Awesome place to bring my dogs. Wish it was just a bit more clean on the water buckets. Other than that. Great open place for the pups

Fenced small and big dog parks; as well as a fenced dog beach

This park made me want to have a dog again. I visited the White Rock Lake Dog Park on a busy Sunday morning when all 3 enclosed areas were bustling with variety of breeds running and having the time of their life. There are three wrought-iron, fenced areas: 1 enclosed area for dogs over 30 pounds, 1 enclosed area for dogs under 30 pounds, and 1 enclosed beach for all dogs wanting to swim. The big and small dog areas had grass, benches, trees and bags for encouraging people to pick up after their pups. The double gated, entry system to all three areas prevented any dogs from bolting out of the park and allowed owners a safe buffer area where they could leash/unleash their dog. My one pet peeve (pun intended) was that the gate locking mechanism is a bit heavy and awkward, and felt laborious especially since you have to go through so many gates. I loved that the beach area was fenced on the land and that there was a floating water barrier that prevented the dogs from swimming off into the rest of the lake. The beach is actually a concrete surface which means you don't have to deal with mud or buckets of sand upon your return home. There appeared to be some concrete blocks in the water near the beach entry where the dogs and people could sit or stand. When the dog days of summer are upon you, grab your pooch and head to the White Rock Lake Dog Park for a romp in the shade and a dip in the lake to cool off. You'll be happy you did when your pooped pup passes out catching some Zzzs for the rest of the day.

Love this park! Three separate areas: one for the water, one for large dogs, and one for small dogs. Very clean. Excellent parking. Great people and fun, well-behaved dogs come here. This is my weekly spot!

Really loved this park, plenty of space and tons of walking room if you'd rather walk your dog instead of releasing them the play in the park. We absolutely can't wait to come back!

White Rock Lake Dog Park. What can I say. We evacuated from hurricane Harvey from Houston to Dallas and stayed at an amazing pet-friendly hotel. The dog park was recommended to us by a waitress so we decided to check it out. Driving up to the area was wonderful. We were staying in the LoveField area, and the drive wasn't all that bad. We went twice during our stay, which was perfect for our little guy (he's 60 pounds of pure muscle but whatever). This was perfect for him being that he was in a hotel with little room to play. The people are amazing, and so friendly. We have a bullybreed dog and despite that they didn't seem to care or even acknowledge this. We met so many great people and dogs there. It was the perfect spot to make us feel at home during such a difficult time. Take your dog here. He will love it. There's a small dog area, large dog area, and an area for swimming :)

It is a very good place to let the dogs just burn off some energy with other dogs in a safe and secure place.

Great place to go for dog parents. The vibe is great. Both my pups enjoy being here. The water area is a hit.

Ask the Community - White Rock Lake Dog Park

    Is it clean?

It's very clean!! The patrons who use it curb their pets very well. I'm sure there's minimal maintenance for the park.

Are there usually a lot of puppies or mostly adult dogs?

There are separate sections for small dogs and large dogs. However, you shouldn't take your puppy to any dog park -- large or small -- before 4-5 months of age. Any earlier and its immune system isn't yet fully developed, which makes it more… Read more

Do you have to pay to get in?

    No, it is free.

Is there a washing station? Does anyone know?

They have just open areas water fountains. In the small dog park area there's been a baby swimming pool where dogs will drink but others will dive in.

Hi all. Coming from out of state with a 60lb lab who loves the water, but she's also a tripawd. Any idea if she'll be able to get in and out of the lake? A beach entry works but the step up I see in the video wouldn't.

Edith D, There are about 3 tri-pawed dogs that swim. There is the ground level you see in the pictures. Just below that and in the water, there is also a "walkway" that I… Read more

Parking is available in the residential streets nearby, which is a short walk over. This dog park, 1.2 arces, is within walking distance of many dog friendly restaurants and bars. This park is fenced off so you can let your pup go off leash. This dog park has poop bag dispensers, dog water bowls (although it is better for you to bring your own because those bowls are never clean and you don't want your dog getting sick), water fountains, is shaded for the most part and has some amazing eclectic artwork. We came on a Saturday afternoon, around 3:30 pm. There were only 2 other people with 2 dogs in the park. The ground is mostly dirt, although there is some patches of grass throughout. Please note that there is no small dog side or big dog side, it is all one giant open space. For the most part, I really enjoyed the art. My little girl just enjoyed following me around (lol) though. Overall, a nice little neighborhood park that is quite unique. But please note that because this is in downtown, you may see some homeless folks, as we saw some (not inside the dog park, but around the area). Please note that the park is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.
