We've been bringing our baby here since she was around 4-5 months old. While she was hesitant the first couple days, after that, she absolutely loved coming here. She knows the route and gets more and more excited the closer we get. Layne and the staff are all so great and I highly recommend them!

First time taking Echo to get groomed here. They did a great job and it didn't take as long as I thought it would. He's looking and feeling marvelous. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. I will be a repeat customer.

When you travel year around it makes you nervous always looking for a new pet sitter. Central Bark has been an awesome experience! We filled out a very lengthy application to have our girls go and stay a few days. We joked it was like buying a car. All joking aside I loved how in depth they got with the background on our girlies. Within the next day Layne called and talked to my boyfriend. Kind of a lengthy call. Asked a lot of questions and answered ours. We were scheduled to come in Thursday-Saturday. When we got there we were met by Layne. He knew exactly who we were and our dog's names. One of the workers took the girls back. It always makes my heart smile when the girls go back without hesitating. Shows me they are in good hands. If my girls ever acted scared I would never leave them. Ruby is our social butterfly and Sierra tends to be a bit shy with new people and new dogs. They said they both did well. I loved the photos on their Facebook page. My girls both looked happy. When we came in to get the them they were excited to come home (like always). Very clean entrance and very organized. I love how the workers are able to bring their dogs to work. Sweet pups! The staff are Rock Stars! A+ I felt like they treated my dogs like their own. If we're ever back in the area we will definitely be back! I highly recommend for families with fur kiddos! (Most of the photos are from Central Bark's Facebook page. Mine are mainly photos around the entrance)

Traveling these days is already stressful enough and it's always hard without your pup. Central Bark has really made life easier. We were initially just looking for a place to board Baby for the weekend but after this weekend, we may have become regulars! She has so much fun here and always comes home so worn out. Everyone here is so friendly, knows us by name, even from our first visit, and have helped us train her while we are away. We used to really struggle with jumping and now she greets everyone with all four paws on the floor. So impressed and so glad we found Central Bark. Thanks for taking such great care of her!

Ursa had her first appointment with the Central Bark groomers today! She and her owners love the way she looks, and

Brought our Great Pyrenees and Shiba Inu in for grooming today. Dogs look great, and the prices are reasonable. Great staff and overall great experience, we'll be back for more grooming.

I've been taking my two dogs, Harley and Schatzi, to Central Bark Gurnee for a month. Harley is a 4 year old YorkiPoo and Schatzi is a 2 year old Dachshund. Schatzi goes to day care 4 days per week and Harley 2 days per week. Before I signed them up for day care at the Bark I met with the owner, Layne. He gave me a tour of the facility and answered all of my questions. The facility is very nice and there's lots of room for play inside and outside. Layne has a wall in the front office with pictures of all the dogs who regularly attend day care. I normally drop the dogs off as soon as they open in the morning, sometimes a few minutes early, and Layne is always there. He is extremely professional and it's obvious that he cares deeply about every dog in his care. He's a stand up guy. The girls on his staff are very friendly and love dogs. I feel comfortable leaving my dogs with Layne and his staff. My favorite thing about the Bark is that they post pictures of the dogs on Facebook every day. There's normally between 30 and 80 pictures that are posted each day to Facebook so you know your dog had a great time. The other thing I love about the Bark is how tired my dogs are when they come home. They are absolutely exhausted and I know they played all day and had fun. If you're looking for a new day care or you're taking your dog to day care for the first time, your dog will be well taken care of and have the best time at the Bark.

I learned of the Reactive Rover doggy school which was a drop off, 8 course program. We dropped Pepper off for half a day approximately two times a week. Prior to beginning the course, we did an in-depth interview with Stephanie to go over our concerns and Peppers needs. We were given a packet of exercises and after each class were instructed on what to work on at home. We also had two in home lessons once drop off classes were complete. This training made a huge difference for us as a family. It helped us all gain confidence, helped us manage expectations, gave us patience and some great tools which we still use to this day. Pepper has come a long way from where she started and we're so glad we did the reactive rover school at Two Paws Up. Definitely worth the money for us! We also took both of our dogs to a nose work class lead by Stephanie following reactive rover school. The set up really catered to reactive dogs as each dog was crated and only taken out for their turn. It was a fun class and both our dogs really enjoyed it. Two Paws Up facility is really nice, it's large and clean. They offer a variety of classes and times. Its been a while since we've been back but hoping to enroll again soon.

The atmosphere was so snobby and unfriendly. Paula was the only nice person, there. I witnessed a trainer punching a Rottweiler puppy in the head because it was being forced down on the ground, over and over again while they yelled, "bang,Bang", the little guy was so terrified by that alone, and got punched in the face by a male trainer. Another person said there dog was so upset it had cage wire stuck its mouth from trying to get out of the small cage it was in. They think they are the best and they suck! My dog was a nervous wreck there and is so calm otherwise. Stay away from there, I feel so bad for the dogs, they look so sad. I like that they offer playtime walks for the dogs there. I'm kind of annoyed with their trainers however. When I first met Kaitlyn the trainer, she explained that Tops offers different training options for clients: board and train, day training, group classes, private lessons, etc. But after I took her beginning class, she absolutely insisted that Pumpkin has to do the board and train program. No way. I am not dumping my dog there for 3 or 4 weeks. Part of the problem is that some of the training methods there can be pretty harsh, which makes me wonder what might be happening to my dog when I am not there to watch and participate in his training program. Another problem there is the trainers at Tops act like they invented prong collars. They did not. MANY TRAINERS use prong collars. I currently train with Bill Balatsos in Palatine, IL. He recommends prong collars for most dogs. So does Jeff Hackanson, the head trainer at Dog Style Inc in Vernon Hills. The trainers at Lakeshore K9 in Highland Park also recommend prong collars. Tops didn't invent the prong collar. A lot of different trainers use them. If you want to learn how to correct bad behavior with a prong collar, Tops isn't your only option. There are other options, and they won't shove their board and train programs down your throat.

They carry all the brands we need for our pets. We have a dog, cat and freshwater fish. We can almost always get what we came in for. While they have the brands we want, their prices are not all that great. I would think that a national chain has "buying power" that would allow better pricing. Honestly, I can go to 3 other stores in the area and get the brand we want for $1-$2 cheaper. On checkout they ask to scan your frequent shopper card. I always check my receipt and do not understand their use of a frequent shopper card. It has no cost saving benefit. I do enjoy each visit I have because of the animal nurturing environment but that is the only thing that makes Petsmart a standout. Again, if you are using a frequent shopper card for your purpose of gathering shopper habits and spending trends you are going to lose our business. We can go,to Wal-mart just across the street and spend, with the items we buy, about $5-$6 less and get other shopping done in the process. The only other issue I have is their freshwater fish. I understand the cost of filtering tanks individually and that it is just unfeasible to do so for what your market offers. But, seeing dead fish or white spots on the fish make me hesitant to buy any at Petsmart. I respect and enjoy your store but it would seem that "price-friendly" is not in your business model.
