Today was my Sami's first visit with Melissa to be groomed. Sami is a Bichon/poodle, he is 3 years old. Melissa groomed Sami and brushed his hair to perfection!! When we picked up Sami, he was so relaxed and not shaking like at his previous groomers. He came home and even took a nap. My 17 yo Shitzu is crossing the rainbow bridge on Tuesday. I purposefully left her hair to grow so I could keep some hair with her ashes. I've planned a golden hour photo session for tonight for my final tangible memories. Although when I looked at her today, she was looking a bit scruffy and I wanted to see her lovely eyes in the photos for sure. Melissa is the absolute best! My Penelope was shedding like crazy and I heard about Melissa from one of my previous managers and he referred me to her. I had always bathed my dog at home but she would still be shedding. I called and set an appointment with Melissa however I warned them that my dog bites and is deaf and gets frightened easily. And Melissa said "Oh that's fine. Bring her on in." I dropped her off, she was done in an hour. When I picked her up she wasn't shaking (like when I got done bathing her), her coat was so shiny and soft for short hair I was shocked. And she smelled amazing with this cute little bandana on her. We've been using Melissa for grooming for just over a year since we brought home our rescue dog Buddy. She is beyond fantastic! I can't say enough good things about her business and her skills. She has her shop set up in the basement of her home and it is always impeccably clean and organized. She has years of past experience and decided to go at it on her own. You can text her anytime for appointments and she always responds quickly. I have our dog's nails trimmed and filed every month between full grooming appointments and she will work us in for the 10 minute visit to do so. She knows what she's doing and has pointed out possible medical issues (our dog's ear looked a bit too red one time). Give her a try. We like to bring our dogs to the woods and sometimes issues occur and she always takes my emergencies; flea and tick baths, rolled in horse poo! I brought my two geriatric cocker spaniel mixes to Melissa about a month ago for their first grooming session with her; and I couldn't have been happier with the results. When I dropped them off, I asked Melissa if I could remain for a few minutes because I was concerned about one of the dogs, Missy, because she doesn't like to be groomed (she gets nervous, stressed, and shakes). Melissa was completely fine with my request. Missy walked around a bit, sniffing and scoping out her surroundings, and within minutes, was in a tub being bathed by Melissa, and Missy was calm! I felt completely comfortable and confident knowing that when I walked away, Missy would be fine and wouldn't give Melissa a hard time. It was easy to see that Melissa cares about her furry clients, and both of my dogs trusted her right away! Both dogs looked absolutely great when I picked them up!
