When I brought my puppy in, she was DISGUSTING. She was dirty and had terribly matted fur on her back legs. She had been spayed and after a month of recovery and complications and more recovery, she desperately needed to be groomed. I wasn't sure what to expect. Coco had only ever been groomed two times, and never at The Dog Lounge. When I picked her up, she was so cute I nearly cried. Updated review--- Danielle is no longer at the dog lounge. It was a huge blew to Wallie as she did a wonderful job and was always so kind. Stephanie started grooming Wallie after but she left shortly after. Very disappointing. Really like their services and their prices were very competitive. Another update, current groomer does not want to work Saturdays.. we will unfortunately be looking elsewhere. Hopefully they can hire more groomers. read more

I just want to give you an idea of why I was so upset. First, I normally pay $25 with tip in gurnee to have Apollo bathed brushed nails trimmed ears cleaned and anal glands. $55 was a sticker shock, and the gruff short haired woman didn't inspire confidence either. Then to receive the call I did, When there is no history of any phone calls being made or messages left from your establishment to alert me he was done. I know you said an hour but I was running errands lost track of time and without question paid $55 for a grooming on a smaller short haired lab mix. I literally thought Apollo had been injured or something and flew to your place. For it just to be someone having a bad day, for that price, that is INSANE. You're great, Apollo smells great, but his nails aren't all short, his handkerchief was real tight and he's limping in his back legs. I thought I made you aware he's had three knee Surgeries in the past year, but if I didn't the scars are very noticeable. That's what my experience has been and while I greatly appreciate being squeezed in, I'm not sure I'll be back especially if that woman is there " " Thank you for your feedback. I completely regret taking my dog to the Dog Lounge. I normally take him somewhere else but due to COVID they were booked until Monday and drop off is at 9 am and I am at work at that time I wish I would have just waited. The dog lounge was nice enough to schedule a last minute grooming appointment, but I am so upset that I took my dog there. After i paid and gave her a tip, I noticed he had a razor burn in his groin area (hence I will not post a picture). I brought it up to her attention and she put some cream on it. When I got home and took a better look at him I noticed some open cuts in between his paws and ears. I've been putting neosporin in the area to prevent an infection. They did a great job! Dasher looks great and isn't as stressed as he was at a different groomer. He's a puppy so I worry leaving him and if he'll have a bad experience, but he looked amazing and seemed pretty happy so I think that I'll be using this place in the future also he smells amazing and the little bandana was so cute. I have been taking my miniature poodle here for about a year. I have been happy with the service. His hair always looks great, and he always smells clean. But what makes this place even better for me is that they really care about my dog. He is a special needs dog: blind, diabetic, anxious, and has had seizures. They always take special care with him, and they don't keep him with the other dogs because they know the other dogs bark and that scares him. He comes home "normal", meaning he isn't traumatized like he has been when I've taken him to other groomers. And the prices are very good! I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

My Golden Doodle Louie has had 2 full grooming sessions at the dog lounge and both of his haircuts were the best that he's had. We had worked with another groomer in Libertyville before and specifically asked that they not cut him to look like a poodle. They ignored our request and on one occasion completely shaved him. The Dog lounge on the other hand followed our request and we were very pleased with his cut. I can also tell by Louie's demeanor that the Dog Lounge treats him very well. Been here twice now and they did a great job on our Zoe. She is a Schnoodle, and she has very fine fur which can get matted easily. Both times Zoe has come home looking better than ever. The girls at the Dog Lounge are friendly as can be and you can tell they love what they do! I am disappointed with the results of my Wheaton Terrier's cut because he was way too short. His hair was about 2 inches in length. We asked Dana for him to be cut on the longer side, not shaved, but he was pretty close to being considered shaved! We asked for his head and tail to be kept longer. What we got was a a dog with a pretty close shave all over his body. Chin ears and face cut way down and tail partially shaved. His belly and goin were shaved to the skin and it was irritating him when we came home. The overall cut is fine and I think Dana did a good job if someone wanted a summer shave job, but we were looking for a trim and wanting him to be cleaned up. This was an extreme hair cut. It was way way too short. If the dog was matted, it would be okay to cut him this short, but he had no matting. We will be trying a different groomer next time and bringing picture to communicate better what we want and don't want. Live and learn. read more

I am so beyond impressed with this place. Being new to the area, I was uneasy about looking for a new groomer. The shop is a little hard to find; it is actually inside the sign that says "Pet General Store". Lots of fun toys and pet food, and even a friendly parrot that greets you. My bichon frise whines when he gets groomed, so I was relieved when Danielle took her time to hold her hand out and let Charlie get to know her before she picked him up to bring him back to be groomed. She listened to how I preferred him to be trimmed and did it exactly the way I wanted. This is by far one of the best jobs done I have seen on my dog. And the price was so inexpensive too. Not only was I so impressed with the grooming, but my car battery also died in the parking lot and the front desk staff was such a doll and helped jump my car with her own personal car. A+ all around, I would totally recommend this place to anyone. read more

Don't let your dog within 5000 feet of this place if Dana Digangi is working there !! This used to be a wonderful place to have your pet groomed , not anymore ! I have 2 Shelties and Dana said because of matting she needed to cut quite a bit of her hair, she now looks like a Jack Russel Terrier ! When I told her not to do this to my other dog she only cut her nails , gave her a bath then only partially dried her and never brushed her out . She called me on the phone and said if I ever brought her back with matting in her hair she would not touch her !! Why do you take your dog to a groomer ! This girl is not a groomer and she does not care about the animals ! If your pet is important to you and your family AVOID this place like the plague !! read more

Danielle is fantastic. She is the best groomer I have found in the north shore area and for certain Libertyville. I tried out a few places and sometimes my dog would be returned not smelling fresh. When I pick my dog up he smells thoroughly bathed, brushed to perfection and if a hair cut was needed; Danielle gives the perfect groom. I also love that you can pick up your dog in 2 hours. I am not sure why some places your dog stays all day. You will love Danielle and the job she does. read more

I'm not sure if they had a management change. The last time I took my dog there it was not a pleasant interaction. They took about 3 hours with my dog when it normally takes them hour and a half at the most. When I went to go pick him up he looked a bit distressed as soon as we got out the store he began throwing up. When we got home he had trembling legs so much he couldn't even get up after he laid down. I went back to the store highly upset the groomers had left. Luckily the store clerk left my message and management called me. All they said was he has standing for a long time and they blamed the shaking on him being an older dog. When I told them well this is the first time it's taken this long and I've been going there for 2 years and this has never happened. There line of defense was that no one hit my dog or mistreated him. It took a full day for my dog to recover. Unfortunately I will not be going back. read more

Moving and having to find a new groomer is the worst. I'm SO thankful I found The Dog Lounge,though! My Siberian Husky, Loki, looked great after a much needed bath and brush out. Danielle did a fantastic job. It took about an hour and a half from drop off to pick up. Google Maps does take you to the right area, but it is a little tricky to find. I brought in my 13 year-old Border Collie for a grooming to help control shedding and bring the shine & beauty to her coat. I explained that "Jackie" has arthritis in her back legs and needed some TLC around that area. Mary did a wonderful job and called me the instant Jackie was finished! They abused my dog! We moved in the area couple years ago, I have a 8 years old 9lb Shih Tzu. I didn't know any grooming place around, so I was happy when I found this place, I thought it's close by and it will be perfect. First year it was good , a young lady was working there, she was super nice and she was doing a great job. But the last two times she wasn't there anymore, it was an older lady. First time she groomed my dog, he came home limping and he had hard time walking. The vet said that he probably felt off the grooming table. ( or after the last experience he was hit over the leg ) I thought stuff happened so I took him back on Saturday, When I took him home he was scared,shaking and lethargic , I took a closer look at him, he came home with this big bruise above his left year and he couldn't keep his eye open. I called them to find out what happened, she told me he got the bruise from the leash!!' I walk my dog 3 times a day for 8 years , never got such a bruise on top of his had from the "leash" Obviously he was hit over the head with a hard object I don't understand if you can't handle my dog call me I'll come and pick him up, i'll take him someplace else, you didn't need to hit or abuse him, just because he's an animal and he can't talk and tell what happened . I didn't pay you for that ! If you love your pet take it some place safe I would never take my dog ther nor recommend it to anyone. That place should be shut down and not allow any other dog or animal being abused !! read more

I wasnt going to write a new review but after speaking to people about this morning's experience I feel I need to. Yes, I spoke with one of the owners as well who was very nice. Last spring Regan took care of one of my dogs who was skunked and she was the kindest and sweetest person. Today the new groomer dragged my scared 40lb dog across the floor by her leash, pushed my Basset hound into the back room with her foot, and tried dragging my 140lb Great Dane by his collar while I was holding him because he was so scared he was trying to run away. I kept asking her to stop! Eventually I was able to get her to leave him be and I found him where he ran to in the store to hide in order to get his collar and harness back on that she pulled over his head while trying to drag him. I put him back in the car and came back for the other 2. The Basset was limping, great dane's toe was bleeding, and fox hound hasn't taken her tail from between her legs yet. What a horrible experience. This person had replaced a former employee from what I understand due to her being too aggressive. Glad I never met that one. The owners seem nice but the licenses of these groomers need to be checked! read more
