Central Roofing replaced my roof in 2020. It leaked in 2023 badly enough to require repainting in the affected room, but to their credit they came out pretty quickly to address the issue. Still, it would have been nice to have a new roof last more than three years without issues. I contacted them in 2024 about installing a skylight. They came out took a look around, said they'd get a quote back, then strung me along for a couple months ("we're talking to the manufacturer to find the best option") then completely ghosted me. Let me preface this by saying that this is my experience. I understand that folks have to make their own decisions for themselves and their businesses. I used yelp for a home renovation project. I'm a new homeowner and I know nothing about caring for a home. I don't have a relationship with any roofing companies as I have never needed one in the past. Yelp suggested Central Bay because they service my area per their Yelp profile. The way that Yelp does it they ask you general questions like, your roof need, your address, your timeframe, etc. I answered all of them and using that information Yelp sent my project information to Central Bay Roofing. At this point every business contacted reviews the information and decides whether or not they can take on the project. Central Bay Roofing sent me a response 12 hours after I created the project. They were not the first company, nor were they the last, but they had time to review (or not review) the details. Justin sent me a link to set up a free estimate, which was great because it was easy to use. When I did that I submitted information on my project including my address, my renovation needs, etc. I made my appointment for the very next day. I confirmed with Justin by informing him I scheduled the estimate appointment. My message was read. Not in all this time did anyone say that CENTRAL BAY ROOFING DOES NOT SERVICE OAKLAND. I got a call 1 hour before my expected estimate time from L Garcia who was going to do my estimate who said that my home is outside of their service area. I asked him where his service area was, he said Alameda. I confirmed Alameda the city or county, he confirmed the city. I asked so you don't do any work in Oakland, he said no. He did give me his reason, which I didn't ask for, but I just think this is highly unprofessional and unorganized. I don't have much time off and they wasted my time and energy. I chose to schedule with them due to their roofing experience and high praise, but I can't say I experienced the same. If you're curious why it was because he was robbed at gunpoint on 54th Ave. I live on 51st Ave. What's unfortunate is that this business is missing out on lots of renovations I see happening in my neighborhood. My city is beautiful and vibrant and growing and I'm blessed to live here. Central Bay Roofing doesn't want to be part of this community and I respect it. But I don't respect them wasting my time. We just moved in our home and we were worried about the pounding of water we found on top of our detached garage roof after a downpour. Justin arrived on time and assessed both our garage roof and house roof and informed us that both roofs were in great condition and had material necessary to withstand extended water exposure. The visit could have ended there, but Justin gave us tips on how to maintain it, how to properly get on the roof, what ladder he recommends for home use, and how to tell if the drains were clogged with leaves. Central Bay just finished our roof and I'm feeling very confident I went with the right roofing company. It was on the higher end cost-wise, but Justin explained to me in detail why our last roof failed and what Central was doing to rectify the ongoing leaks we've had. He also provided before and after photos to me, showing the issues we discussed and showing the 3 layers of roofing we paid for. I think this roof is going to last us quite a lot longer than the last roof we put on only 10 years ago! We could not be more thrilled with the new roof that CBRR installed on our home. We recently purchased a beautiful old arts and crafts home in Berkeley. The house had a 90 year old trasnite (asbestos) tile roof that was really well past it's useful life. The job was very complex, as the roof has a number of unusual elements, lots of different angles and is pretty steep in places. The project included quite a bit of wood repair work due to rot, installation of all new copper flashing, new and repaired copper gutters, roof a large outbuilding and rebuilding of a large skylight. Justin and his entire crew were very professional, communicate really well throughout the project and did a truly amazing job. Central Bay Roofing replaced the flat roof on my home back in 2021. I was quite satisfied with the quality of the roof work overall, although they caused quite a mess inside my house. When the job was done, I would have rated them 4.5 stars out of 5. However, about a year later, I discovered that one of the fascia boards on the perimeter of my roof had dry rot and needed replacing. Obviously, it would have been preferable for Central Bay to do this at the time the original roof work was done. After all, the contract I signed with Central Bay said they would inspect the wooden roof members and repair or replace dry-rotted boards on a time & materials basis. That obviously didn't happen, and when I discovered the problem a year later and called them to make repairs as necessary, they wouldn't phone me back. That's just chicken-$#!t. I expected better. I am left to wonder if my warranty is any good at all, since they don't seem to honor their word. Sadly, I would advise prospective customers to proceed with caution. The quality of their work seemed good at the time, but the question I have is whether they stand behind their work. read more

The workers were on time (8:00 every morning), were polite and professional, and cleaned up after themselves on a daily basis. The final costs were in line with what we expected--no ugly surprises. When he arrived to look at our roof--(before we had decided to use Central Bay Roofing), Leo went up on the roof to examine it and spent far longer up there than any of the other roofers we had asked to look at it. LEO IS AMAZING!!! During the heavy winter rains, my roof was leaking and I called multiple roofing companies to come take a look. Leo came right away and did everything he could to try to find the leak but we couldn't find the source. My roof is over 20+ years old and needed to be replaced anyway, but Leo offered to patch possible spots with mastic. When the leak persisted, Leo came over again and helped me tarp my roof, all of this for no charge, on his own time and with no guarantee I'd hire Central Bay for a new roof. Leo followed up with me in the spring to see if I was going to get a new roof, and I got multiple estimates from companies. Central Bay gave a very competitive quote and Leo worked with me to get the full roof repair within my budget without cutting quality, so of course I went with Central Bay. The crew finished my roof in two days! Full demolition, all new and correct materials for my low pitched roof and repaired my practically caving in chimney. The crew cleaned up all of the debris and worked really hard and quickly. Leo sent me pictures throughout the process and I got to check out the final product, which of course looks amazing! These are true professionals! We had them replace our roof last year. My old roof was a vintage...ok it was just plain old...tar and gravel style roof. After meeting with Justin, one of the owners, he worked up a few different options. We ended up going with an Energy Star Certified shingle...you know those very thin kind that are a few on a sheet. Because we had a tar and gravel roof before, they had to build-up some framing. So it wasn't quite as easy as pulling off the old and replacing. Well...when they were removing the old roof they found that dreaded word for a home owner of a wood house...DRYROT on the side of the house (not the roof area)! We immediately got a call and were shown. In my mind I was thinking oh (beep) I need to find a contractor to do this. Not the case at all. Central Bay Roofing was able to do all that work too! They matched the wood siding and painted. AND...it only added one...yes ONE day to project!!! I also have to give these guys credit for being neat-freaks! Everyday when I got home...the entire driveway, decks and walkways were swept clean. And not just swept into the plants like I've had others do. NO...they picked up everything and took away. So it's been a year...roof still looking great, but now the best part. Because of the type of roof, the venting and exhaust fans that Central Bay Roofing installed...I didn't have to use my Air Conditioning ONCE this past summer. It's really been a true investment. House looks great, saving tons on cooling a pretty decent sized house, and knowing that there are real professional trades people that not only go above and beyond expectations but have such an attention to detail that I would recommend them to anyone. PHASE 2 - I have these large insulated windows that are some 30-feet off the ground (the fun of loving on a hill) that have started to get foggy on the inside. I can not recommend Justin and his crew enough. They did a full gutter replacement of an overhanging tile roof. They matched the colors perfectly and did a beautiful job on the gutters and drain pipes. The state of California actually scores contractors and Roofers and Central Bay had by far the highest score of all the Roofer's we evaluated. These guys did a great job! I worked with Justin who was communicative via email and followed up as asked. These roofers are very self-sufficient and aside from the noise of replacing a roof (it's loud!), they were unnoticed. They didn't bother us at all during the installation of our new roof but were accessible and friendly when we had questions. They cleaned up around the house but had a terrible bout of wind during the old roof removal period and had to contend with that making their mess area larger. They were thorough fixing areas of dry rot and kind about adding on another small roofing project on an attached shed. Thank you! As a note to fellow dog owners, the noise was really overwhelming to our dogs, so if you have the option, I wouldn't have your dogs in the house during the installation period. read more

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Work done: PVC IB Roof, 3" insulation, velux solar skylight, SolaTube sun tunnel I recently moved into a new home that had an old tar and gravel roof. I knew that the roof needed to be replaced and it was high priority to get the roof done before the rain season started. During the first two months after we moved in, when the temperature was 75 degrees outside, the old roof absorbed all of the heat and trapped it the house making it feel like an oven inside the house. After receiving a few quotes from different roofers, I contacted Central Bay and arranged a time for a roof inspection. Justin Brown, our project manager explained the different roofing options and I knew that they offered a great price for the work I wanted since I had already received estimates from other roofers. The entire process from start to finish was completed in 5 days. Abel and his crew were all very friendly and really professional. Each day the crew started at 7:30am and was done by 4:30pm. When I got home from work the yard had been swept and free of debris. What really impressed me was that Justin would provide me a status update each day and since I was getting a skylight and sun tunnel installed, they were willing to work around my electrian's schedule. It's been a few months since the work has been completed and I am really happy with the new roof. During the summer, there were a few days when the temperature outside was 90+ degrees and the house was nice and cool. The crew did a fantastic job installing the solatube and skylight. He fixed a small leak on the spot, without obligating me for the larger job. Of course I was happy to call him back to fix the bigger issue. Overall, we had a great experience with this company. Justin Green is very straight forward and took the time to walk me through my options. One big plus: he told us we actually didn't need a new roof, our's would probably last another five years. However, we needed to install gutters and new downspouts and elected to get a new roof since we were certain they'd find some dry rot. Now, we have nothing to worry about for at least 20 years. Justin explained our options and we went with a top notch system that includes a top polymer coat that resists fire and ponding. The crew showed up on time and worked very professionally. Not every thing went as smoothly as I would have liked. The downspouts were two weeks late in arriving from the supplier. But Justin stayed in contact with me and was even willing to send out a crew to make my old ones work temporarily in case it rained. Just yesterday, a couple of his guys came out to dampen the noise in a couple of the downspouts that have very sharp angles. So, I have no reservations recommending this company to other Yelpers. read more

Someone messaged and said that my husband scheduled for after 4, but yet the person he spoke to on the phone acknowledged the appointment window. I was then texted by Leo at 3:45 advising he was on the way and an hour and a half later still not here. AGAIN. If they can't be relied on to make an appointment, you certainly don't want them doing your roof. Begs the question of whether the other reviews are legitimate. read more
