Dr. Karm and her staff do amazing work!…read more I have been an athlete my entire life: competitive swimmer- turned Crossfitter- turned Orange Theory addict. In July 2021, after seeing an orthopedic doctor and receiving a round of HA gel injections previously, my knee was in an abundance of pain. I could barely walk and it was affecting my ability to work, workout, drive and do normal activities with friends and family. At the advice of a friend, I called Active Care. I had never been to a Chiropractor before but was desperate for help. I was welcomed with friendly faces, a clean and open office, an insurance sheet that told me exactly how much I would owe for what and when, and Doctors with positive attitudes, outgoing personalities, and who truly want the best for you. I saw Dr. Freseth who created a plan for me that included rehabilitation, adjustments, exams, and regular massages with Cheryl. Every rehab session turned into "work and talk" discussions about food, life, athleisurewear and healthy living which made me excited to keep coming back and motivated to keep up my progress. Anytime I have a question about my account statement, I receive a response in less than an hour. By November 2021, I was pain free, back to working out 6x a week, and running faster every day. In February 2022, I had a 2.3 second PR on a 500m row benchmark at Orange Theory, which I credit to Cheryl's massage work earlier in the day and the continued work of the Active Care team on this former athlete's creaky joints.

Cheryl is the best massage therapist I have ever had. I have tried so many other people and have…read morehad no improvements. She has helped me feel so much better. She listens to what I need and focuses on that area perfectly. She truly has a gift of healing.

After three surgeries from two doctors in this group, I'm fully qualified to review their practice…read more My first surgery was by Dr. Tingle, who repaired a torn (shredded) rotator cuff. I saw several other orthopedic doctors over the years who misdiagnosed the problem. Rehab only made it worse. When I was referred to Dr. Tingle, he did a CAT Scan and saw a small tear. We scheduled the surgery, and he found the tendon had completely torn off the shoulder. Their surgeries are done in the Outpatient Surgical Center at Northwest Community Hospital. The recovery from this kind of surgery is long and painful. It's been over seven years, and I almost have full motion back to that arm. In fairness, I was very flexible, so I have better than 100% of a normal range of motion, but I can't quite reach where I used to be. I started having problems with my feet a couple of years ago. Bunions were growing on both feet. They were tolerable until they were not. Dr. Abraham works on feet, and I saw him at the beginning of 2022. I had surgery on my left foot in March. He warned me that the big toe was very arthritic, and he wasn't sure how much ligament was left. If it was bad, he said he might need to fuse the toe. If not, he would ease arthritis and correct the bunion. He suggested that if he felt the fusion was needed during the surgery, he would stop so we could discuss it. I did not want two surgeries on the same foot, so I told him to fuse it if it had to be fused. That's what happened. After I had two days of pain, then another. Six weeks in a boot with the ability to start driving again in two weeks was amazing. Two weeks after not using the boot, I went on an active trip to Ireland, which involved walking, hiking, claiming, and bicycling. and more. Aside from some expected swelling, I had no pain. It was great. When we returned, we scheduled the right foot in October. This was my dominant foot and my driving foot, so this would be personally problematic. The surgery went very well, and fusion wasn't needed. This time, a full eight weeks in the boot, plus two more just in case. I was able to drive at six weeks, What I find best about this practice are two things: (1) everyone on their staff is nice, attentive, and caring - from the front desk staff to the nurses and doctors, and even billing. (2) Their aftercare is second to none. Both Doctors always had time to talk, to see me if needed, and to ensure we had appointments scheduled until I would be released. While I hope I'll never have to revisit them, it is only since I hope I never need orthopedic surgery again. After a lifetime of activity and osteoarthritis, I'll likely return. After being released this morning, I learned that Dr. Abraham is retiring. He's giving up his practice to work full-time at the VA Hospital. What a mensch!

From the minute you start the office journey, with a super friendly staff, and caring to Lucas, his right hand man, and Bill, (Xray employee), they could not have been more comforting an caring. The office staff calls back almost immediately if you have questions and they make sure your recovery is pain free (best it can be) and that you are doing ok. They are wonderful and highly come reccomended!!!!!

When I first started, I could barely tolerate my lower back pain and struggled just to function day to day. Through consistent therapy and continued treatment, I've gone from that point to now being completely pain-free. The impact on my quality of life has been nothing short of incredible. Not only did the treatment relieve my pain, but the ongoing care--whether consistent or intermittent over the years--has helped me maintain progress, improve mobility, and function better in every aspect of life. On top of that, the entire staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. They always communicate clearly, accommodate any needs or adjustments, and truly make you feel like part of a family from the moment you walk in. That level of care and personal connection makes a huge difference. I'm genuinely happier and able to enjoy things I couldn't before, all thanks to the care I've received here. Thank you again for the support, the impact, and the life-changing improvements over the years!

So I woke up one morning with a pain in my shoulder. After getting a cortisone injection the pain…read morewas reduced, but not stopped. They decided I injured my rotator cuff and scheduled physical therapy. Barrington Orthopedics has several offices around the NW Suburbs. I see my doctor in Hoffman Estates, but chose their office in Elk Grove for the therapy since it is near my office. The building is older and not very much like their state of the art facility in Hoffman Estates. Frankly, though, I don't care about the looks of the building as much as how they can help. I go two days a week and see two different therapists. Both are very nice. Both seem quite capable. But, each has their own style. So, while one focuses on strengthening certain muscles, the other determined the problem is cause by posture - I slouch. So, I don't really know what the issue is, and the therapists can't seem to agree or coordinate themselves. With each of them, I feel better when I leave. I think I'm going to have to talk to them about using only one therapist and sticking with one type of therapy.

Dr Daryl Luke with Barrington Orthopedics tore my patellar ligament during knee replacement…read moresurgery. Tremendous ridiculous pain all night. He said he could fix it so I believed him. He failed the second fix-it surgery too. I could not walk after 8 weeks in a cast. Then he wanted to do a THIRD surgery to fix his original blunder and called Dr Scott Sporer of Rush who told him his third surgery plan would not work! Dr Luke is very incompetent and stay far far away from him. I am SUFFERING greatly and have to take antibiotics for the rest of my life because somehow he introduced a serious staph infection into my body.
