The problem doing this is that you must purchase a large slab, find someone to cut, finish, transport and install it. I saw The Top Shop's ad in the Lompoc Record and I went by to see if they had any remnants as I didn't need a very large piece. Greg was very accommodating and tolerant of my indecisiveness. He showed me what remnants he had that would meet my needs. Since I was having the fireplace retiled, I decided to use the same countertop material for the hearth too. He also knew someone who could do my tile work and they coordinated the project together. Greg and George do beautiful, precision work. I am so pleased with the outcome. The old hearth was terrible with chipped tile that had been painted and it wasn't level. Now I have a beautiful, sleek, level hearth with a matching countertop. As a contractor for Home Depot, they told us to complain to Home Depot about their work. Between Home Depot and San Luis Marble, we had to wait until Nov 2025, over five months, to get our kitchen finished, while our disconnected oven and dishwasher sat in separate rooms. We had to wait several stress filled months for a job that should have been corrected in less than 30 days. We felt like we were being held hostage until we agreed to pay significant extra funds for San Luis Marble's mistakes.

The ladies running the countertops and painting departments were really nice and got me scheduled for paint and countertops. I ended up hiring a painter before our painting appointment came. Countertop person came over to measure and he informed me that there would be a fee of $150 to get a quote. It was an automatic turn off. No other companies do this. It should have been mentioned before we even booked the appointment. He gave me a ballpark number that was at least 7k to 10k over the company I intend to use. Appointment was a waste of time. Samuel made the template, grabbed our sink, we sent him the specs for the cooktop and said he'll call me when it's ready. He called four days later and said he could install it, but our painters weren't done yet so we agreed to stay with the original plan. His team showed up earlier than the time he gave and got to work immediately. They worked hard! It wasn't easy getting our stone up to the second story kitchen and then he matched veins within the stone with the backsplash to countertop. Our GC said it was one of the best looking layouts of countertops he's seen. The appliance installation team said the cut outs for the sink and cooktop were so good they didn't need to install brackets. The wife is extremely pleased with how it looks!! Highly recommend these guys they have been in the game for years but are just now (5years) on their own.
