Professional Team, a Remote-Estimate System That Needs Work We hired Central Coast Moving & Storage on a friend's recommendation -- he'd told us they had an excellent reputation and a system built specifically for moving people from out of the area into Paso Robles. That pitch is what sold us, so I called and spoke with Nate, who walked us through how it works. The system: you use your phone to take photos and videos of everything you're moving. They come back with a fixed, binding estimate. Then a driver heads down from Paso, hires local help to load you up, and the same truck delivers to Paso. A clean idea -- until move day. The estimate was way off. I had documented everything I could -- cabinets, closets, drawers -- and even called Nate's team a few days before the move with an updated set of photos of every box in the garage and what was left in the house. "Are you sure that's enough truck?" I asked. They said no problem. It wasn't. Come move day, the truck showed up and it was obvious from the first walkthrough that it wouldn't fit. That kicked off a stressful scramble. I called the company, got Jay on the phone, and we started working the problem. The eventual solution: load the truck with what would fit, drop a portion at a local storage unit, come back for the rest as planned, then send a partial-load truck from LA a few weeks later to pick up our remaining things from Escondido and deliver them to their storage in Paso. Our stuff sat in a storage unit a few weeks longer than it should have -- which added more stress to an already hard day -- but it worked out. A few things saved this from being a one-star review. The local movers were genuinely great -- professional, courteous, careful. Daniel, their ops manager, personally oversaw the final delivery to Paso. We had a couple of credit-card charges hit that shouldn't have, and they fixed them right away. I ended up working directly with Blake, their new GM, who took full responsibility and made sure his team resolved every issue. And despite the operational chaos, in the end we paid exactly what the original estimate said we'd pay -- they didn't try to upcharge us for their miss. My honest feedback to Blake (which I'll share publicly here too): the remote-bid system doesn't work for moves of any real size. They need to hire a local estimator and put actual eyes on the property they're bidding to move. Photos and videos -- even thorough ones -- miss too much. That one change would have eliminated about 90% of the pain on our move. Three stars: this is a company under new management, openly working through real growing pains. The people we dealt with were professional and accountable, and they made it right financially. If you're considering them, ask whether they'll send someone out in person to walk your property before binding the price. If yes, I'd bump my rating up considerably. If they're still doing it remotely, plan for surprises on move day. read more

These guys are great. Austin (the company owner) and Jarod could not have been nicer, or more professional guys. I'll admit, when my wife suggested we contract with them I had some preliminary doubts based off of the youth of the company, and a lack in reviews. We took a chance on them and they did not disappoint at all! Austin and Jarod showed up the morning of our move, which was to a city 4 hours away, on time and ready to go. They quickly and safely moved all of our belongings out of the house while we frantically finished cleaning and were done loading the truck by noon. I have traditionally always done moving myself with the help of friends but these guys know what they are doing. They wrapped furniture and items in uHaul blankets and shrink wrap that I would have definitely just thrown on the truck with a towel on top. They were prompt to arrive in Fresno that afternoon and got everything in the house safely and without damage. They take the time to go through what room you want everything in, and Austin even purchased some uHaul wardrobe boxes that helped them pack loose items more efficiently that he offered to sell us if we wanted to take our time unpacking everything without it being spread out on the floor. I mention this, because he did not try and add it after the fact as an add on charge. There was no pressure to purchase them, he merely offered them as a service. I would highly suggest this team for your moving needs. They moved a two story, three bedroom/two bath house to a city four hours away all in one day without any damage or drama, all while being the nicest guys. From what I've gathered, these are college students running this business to make some money. They're local, they're professional, they're efficient, and they deserve your business. I didn't catch what Austin is going to school for, but he can always fall back on this and grow this business because he and Jarod make moving easy. Highly recommended! read more

We hired Central Coast Moving to move us out of our home in preparation for a major renovation. Every individual who worked on our move had a positive, professional attitude toward the job. We have moved many times and we have never worked with a better team. The price was reasonable and the work ethic was truly admirable. In addition to being very professional, each person on the crew was also physically capable of moving the heavy boxes and furniture. On some of our previous moves with other moving companies, this had not been the case. They also had real moving experience. For example, they knew how to move wine storage refrigerators and explained to us why it would damage them if they were not maintained in an upright position. They also knew how to get a very big, heavy wooden table into an office when we thought they were going to have to take it all apart. In other words, they had the skill, training and experience to do the job right. To get ready for the move, I planned to pack everything myself but also arranged for Central Coast to help us pack anything remaining on the day before the move. I packed for 5 days but still was not finished. They arrived the day before the move with seven packers and the job was finished quickly and efficiently. They labelled everything carefully and packed the delicate items with great care. I could not have finished the packing by myself in time for the move. On move day, a crew of six carefully wrapped the furniture and gave us the opportunity to double check the destination of the furniture and boxes (some went to the apartment and some went into a storage container). At the destination, they carefully unloaded all the stuff, assembled the bed and other furniture, and did so quickly and efficiently. We very much appreciated the care and energy that Austin and his team brought to our move. We will certainly use them again when we move back into our renovated home. read more

It is always a good feeling as a consumer when you end a business agreement feeling satisfied. For many years I represented an industry that was once driven by Customer Service and Consumer Satisfaction, only to be replaced by a business model that was focused primarily on Sales, and Consumer Service / Satisfaction became secondary. Completed as agreed. * Mover provided care using floor protectors so as not to damage floor as furniture was prepared for moving and during the movement of furniture. * Furniture was wrapped for move protection. * The two men who arrived to carry out the move were professional throughout the process. A+ ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EVER! We have had to move three times because of my health and the price of California rent. We finally sold our tiny cottage home in Chico, CA. When I was not disabled, my husband and I had built a two-story 10' by 12' storage unit in the back of our Chico home. We used movers to move to our home in Oregon. We used movers in Oregon to unpack the moving truck. Those initial movers charged $5000.00 dollars to pack for Oregon. They badly scratched and gouged my matching inlaid wood headboard and three dressers then covered them after they did the damage so we could not see it! The Oregon unpackers were dismayed as well. These very polite, kind and professional young men did a GREAT job packing a very crowded two layer shed which included articles of every size from couches, dressers, and chairs to racks of clothes and tiny glass objects. They drove all the way from California to Oregon. My husband was extremely impressed and said he was greatly relieved and that they were "worth every penny". Some of the items were antiques and many were thirty years old. Nothing was damaged and everything was well handled. They were highly recommended by someone I consider to be the best realtor in Chico. Her recommendation of these two young men is a further credit to her professionalism. Do not have anyone else move you. These two are 'worth every penny' and will not disappoint or take advantage of the disabled. I HIGHLY recommend Austin and his crew. read more

Austin and his crew are amazing. We moved from Grass Valley to Paradise CA (2 hour drive away). The price was reasonable and nothing broke at all. We had to move a baby grand piano (worth $80k) and about 3000 sq. ft. worth of furniture. They did it in the rain in Grass Valley. We had to have our furniture stored over night due to closing escrow the next day and Austin was very accommodating. They brought 8-10 wardrobe boxes and were very professional for a great young group of Chico and Butte college students. My wife and I were so impressed by these young boys. They were friendly, hard working, and did not use any profanity. We were impressed. The price was fair and reasonable, I took three bids and they were by far the lowest but most accommodating. Mark, Mike, Cody, Eddie and Jared were awesome movers and friends. I now look at these boys are good friends and highly recommend them for anyone. You would be idiots if you chose another mover. Words cannot express my gratitude for the absolutely amazing job Central Coast Moving did for us on our move! To begin with, Austin answered the phone immediately on a Saturday and began to ask me details of our move. He assured me that he could meet my emergency deadline of following Thursday and that all aspects of the move would happen smoothly and without incident. I highly recommend Austin Yarborough and his crew at Central Coast Moving. They did a job for me a few weeks ago and the level of service and professionalism was top notch. He quoted a fair price, stuck with his promises and his crew didn't stop until the job was done - all day long! They took a previous moving company's work (a big name local one, which is better described as LUNKHEAD, that I will NEVER use again!) out of my storage units and deftly delivered them to my new residence. The crew was energetic and all three members (Austin, Ron and Ben) worked extremely well together. It's clear that Austin is respected by and respectful of his employees. Austin returned every call and text, worked the job himself and worked with me when I was panicking over rain and the Amgen tour messing up the moving plans. Our elderly parents finally decided to make the move from Santa Barbara County to Paso Robles. Their first quote was crazy expensive and the company could not schedule the move to fit within the close of escrow constraints. We advised them to contact Central Coast Moving & Storage because of their very favorable reviews. Everyone from Jay who provided the estimate along with a number of helpful tips, to the packing crew and the moving crew did an outstanding job. Communication was timely and they kept us in the loop 100%. All work was completed on time, nothing was lost or misplaced and nothing was damaged/broken! All in all, it was a perfect move. The final bill came in under the estimate which made the folks very happy. Kudos to the whole team; Jay, Mike, Daniel, Cruz, Jason, Nate A., Gar, Fernando and Ryan! Outstanding job by all. Austin and his team are the BEST!!! We've (unfortunately) moved more times than I care to count and this was by far, the easiest, most UNstressful move we've ever had. Austin was extra communicative (confirmed their onsite inspection time, confirmed their pick up time, confirmed their ETA for delivery, etc., etc.), and went above any beyond in terms of their professionalism, friendliness, and overall helpfulness. They were soooo quick. Loaded in a few hours, drove down the SAME day AND started the unload so that we were able to sleep in our beds the first night! On top of all that, his price was comparable to the others (actually a bit less). Oh, and he called a few days after our move to see how we were settling in. So thoughtful and professional! We had to change last-minute & put a load in storage that we didn't know we were going to have to but, that was "no prob" as Fernando came back the next morning & picked up a second & final load for us & took it to their storage. We had a perfect move from beginning to end. Jay was on time for his first visit and always available to answer questions, to bring extra supplies, and to share packing advice that would insure safe arrival of fragile goods. We give top marks to Fernando, Mike, Ryan and Daniel for carefully wrapping and loading our antiques and art works and loading them as if they were their own possessions. They were professional in every way, and as we watched how they worked as a team, we knew we had selected the best movers in San Luis Obispo County. Fernando Mike and Dylan arrived safely in north county San Diego and unloaded the truck to complete the move on time, in spite of their having to use the elevator. I have had a great experience with Central Coast Movers from the first phone call to the packing and moving of my possessions. And because they were so reliable and well priced, my things are also in storage with them in Paso Robles. Austin and Ja are both excellent communicators, staying in touch with me and explaining everything clearly. They also have excellent follow through. They were able to meet my desired date for the move and the crew arrived on time. The workers, Ryan, Jason, and Daniel were terrific! They were friendly, efficient and worked hard for over 8 hours. My sister and I really enjoyed their company as we all worked and listened to music (oldies but goodies) together. They stayed until after dark loading the last items from the barn, and were polite and good natured to the end. Absolutely excellent! Central Coast made my latest move the most convenience and easy mover I have every experienced. It was smooth as silk from the billing of getting a quote to the actual execution of the move. Xavier and Cruz were the two movers who complete my move - they called to see if I needed anything before arriving and sent me text message on their arrival time. They were prompt, professional, experienced and extremely friendly and accommodating to all my needs. Central Coast Moving was a pleasure to work with. From scheduling the service to the actual moving day, the entire team was incredibly kind and helpful. I found them via their incredible online reviews and was almost a little skeptical because they were all sooo good but they truly deserve every wonderful review and I now fully understand why people are raving about them. I've used movers a few times but they have stood out as the best!! They provide an incredible value compared to other movers I used and they truly make the experience easy (even on a rainy day).
