If you want to pay double for a move, this is your place. It all started when the general manager Jay came out to our house, and told us we would need three guys for three hours and recommended a pod size for us to put our goods in. Also, I needed to add that we asked for someone that was experienced in moving a piano. On the day of the move, two men showed up. No one knew how to move a piano. The two guys were not fast moving movers. They spent so much time wrapping our goods in plastic. The two guys were at our home for over eight hours. They had no boxes to move. We had done that previously all this was wrapping a furniture and putting it in a pod. The pod probably held about 3/4 of our furniture so we were then stuck with a second date to move the rest into a storage. So now we're paying for a pod monthly charge and 2 moves. It was totally overwhelming, and apparently Jay the general manager is a horrible estimator. So now it's move-in time and we're stuck with Central Coast having some of our goods in their warehouse so now we're paying again for them to move the stuff that he told us was originally gonna fit in our pod so it's a three hour minimum and two guys. Paid for a third move so now it's time for them to pick up their pod. They quoted us $475 originally for the pod return, but now they've added on a $200 restocking fee for their moving blankets. This company nickels and dimes the crap out of you. Do yourself a favor and call meathead movers they were way more. Efficient worked hard didn't charge us for travel time and gave us what they said. read more

Signed a binding estimate for $5,989. Charged over $7,400. No authorization, no revised contract. I chose Central Coast Moving specifically because they gave me a binding estimate. Meaning the price is LOCKED in regardless of how long the job takes. Their rep Nate personally confirmed this before I signed. The move ended up taking longer than expected. Instead of honoring the binding price, they charged my card on file ~$1,500 extra without calling me, without getting my approval, and without ever presenting a revised written estimate for my signature; which is required by California LAW before a binding estimate can be increased. When I raised the issue with them directly (specifically the supervisor, Daniel), his response was to offer removing the credit card processing fee and calling it "meeting halfway." That's not a resolution! The overcharge is roughly $1,500 and the processing fee was $217. A binding estimate exists to protect consumers from exactly this situation. If a moving company won't honor the word "binding" printed on their own contract, what will they honor? I'm now dealing with a BHGS complaint and a credit card dispute instead of settling into my new home. Bottom line: the movers themselves did fine work, but the business practices from management are unacceptable. Get everything in writing and be prepared to fight for what you signed. read more

Second time using this company and very happy once again! This review is late and I apologize to them. Around March 17th, we needed help moving three large rolling toolboxes to my husbands new shop in Paso Robles from our home in Atascadero. We thought we could do it ourselves but quickly realized there was no way we could safely roll them down our steepish driveway without hurting ourselves and damaging the boxes...maybe in our younger years but not now...lol... To say nothing of how to get them in a trailer, they were just too heavy, even empty. I made a quick phone call and we had an immediate response with a quote and a time frame. The two gentlemen that came out were lovely (Mathew and Carlos). They had them loaded up in no time and followed my husband to the shop and rolled them into place for him. Quoted 3 movers, sent 2. A phone call mid move was made by us voicing our concerns , we were reassured we wouldn't be charged extra. We were when 2 guys dint finish in the time quoted for three . Charged well over the contract price Quoted both a 30 and 60 box package Being verbally reassured that if we only used 30 we would go with the 30 box , used 28 and charged for 60. Crew left early (hour three of 4 hours quoted) on day 1 packing day with items still unpacked that were on-site and within scope assuring us they would get handled . They weren't and got LEFT BEHIND. Representative pressured me into signing off that nothing was left behind by promising they'd finish -- surprise...they didn't and then went on to ignore our calls and emails... so we had to drive back and personally wrap and move Invoice came in $1,100+ over the estimate with additional charges never disclosed: a duplicate $100 coverage fee "protection" , a 5% "consumables" surcharge, and a credit card processing fee. I declined to sign the physical invoice yet they still charged me the inflated price, and on the final invoice there was my " signature " . Still no contact from multiple calls and emails . Just robbed and ghosted . Would not recommend. Next step are emails to BBB , the DAs consumer protection division to talk about California Business and Professions Code §17200 (unfair business practices) given the coercive circumstances and my credit card company with time stamps of phone records texts and photos . read more

On February 28, 2026, I hired Central Coast Moving Company because I had several heavy items I could not lift myself and wanted handled professionally to avoid damage. Unfortunately, my refrigerator -- which I had just purchased -- was damaged during the move. Before the movers left, I pointed out two dents on the front panels from the dolly, as well as additional dents on the bottom and side of the refrigerator. I immediately submitted photos and filed a claim. Although I did not purchase additional coverage, I trusted that professional movers would handle items with care. Since then, I have not received any return phone calls -- only a text message and an email with no meaningful resolution. For an appliance valued at over $2,500, this has been extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Central Coast Moving Company. Dear Alicia, We have reviewed your claim along with the photos submitted regarding the damage on the exterior of your refrigerator. After completing our review and referencing your signed agreement, we are unable to offer compensation of any kind for this item. Your shipment was transported under No Additional Coverage, which limits carrier liability as outlined in the agreement. This level of coverage does not provide reimbursement for cosmetic surface damage such as minor dents. Broader protection would have required the purchase of additional valuation coverage prior to the move. Our team followed standard moving procedures, and the handling of the shipment was performed within the terms of the signed contract. We understand that noticing cosmetic damage can be frustrating, however based on the coverage selected and the documentation on file, we are not able to provide compensation. Stay Away - Unethical Billing Practices I hired central Coast Moving Co. for a small, local move. The crew showed up at 8:40 AM and we were completely finished by 11:00 AM -- just 2 hours and 20 minutes total. This includes loading, a 35-minute drive, and unloading. But then I received a bill for 4.5 hours, claiming it was because of double drive time. Let's be clear: in California, double drive time only applies to the time between the origin and the destination -- not the movers' commute to my house, not their drive back to their office, and certainly not imaginary time padding. In my case, that's a 35-minute drive, which should legally be doubled to 70 minutes -- not an extra 2+ hours. When I questioned the obvious overbilling, they tried to gaslight me with vague excuses about "how it works." I've since confirmed with multiple reputable sources (and the California Public Utilities Commission) that what they're doing is at best deceptive and at worst illegal. Whether it's incompetence or intentional scamming, the result is the same: customers getting ripped off. If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid this company at all costs. There are honest movers out there -- this is not one of them. We recently used ASAP movers on a much larger move, and it was completed in the same amount of time for a lower cost. read more

I wanted to share my recent experience with Central Coast Moving. First, I want to commend the moving crew who did a great job and really hustled. Our items were handled with care, resulting in a smooth move. However, the communication from Central Coast Movers regarding the move date was very confusing. I was told there would be a travel day associated with the pick-up for the move, which I understood. However, two separate email communications stated the truck would arrive on a certain date, which I took as gospel. The second email confirmed the first as to the date and time the truck would arrive at my location. On the morning of the confirmed date, I even received a text congratulating me on the morning of my "move date." Unfortunately, this was not actually my move day. It was the travel day. The truck arrived the next day for pick-up of my belongings, not the "move date" described in the emails and text message. We had made plans based on the emails as to our personal logistics. I spoke with Jay in management, who insisted that I misunderstood what was "clearly communicated" in the contract. I assured him that it was poor communication to state my "move date," only for it to turn out to be a logistics day. I re-read the contract and found that it could be easily misconstrued by a customer. A contract is meant to represent a meeting of the minds, and clearly, the parties in this contract were not aligned. I feel confident in saying I am not the only customer to have been confused by such out-of-sync communications. I lost a valuable day waiting for the truck to arrive a day after multiple correspondences stated it would arrive. Jay stated that he would respond to my negative review with the "actual facts," adding to the feeling we were being gaslit. Any such response will not change my feelings, nor should it change the message I am trying to convey. The communication was inconsistent, wholly confusing, and in my opinion, inaccurate. I still recommend Central Coast Movers but advise caution to any long-distance customer as to the potential for miscommunication. Also, since I do not move often enough to sense the value received for the price of the move, I can only state it seemed higher than I might have expected. read more

The addage "sold a bill of goods" definitely apples to CC moving and their AZ affiliate . Yes, a move is extremely hectic and anxiety ridden . That having been said , the moving company should be honest about assuaging those fears to some degree . The movers who came to my house in AZ were not movers , per se. They were inexperienced kids . I had to put my stuff in storage with CC at their Paso Robles facility for awhile . When I could finally have it delivered the guys who came , for the most part , we're not movers either . Suffice to say that there were items missing , broken, scratched , etc . What I find most curious is the pursuit of a review by me for their services. When informed about any missing items or things that were damaged we received no reply after being told they'd look into it . This is NOT a professional moving co. Hired them for a move into a different county, showed up too early and I wasn't able to do last minute packing and now it's a week later and there are missing essential items. They made snide remarks about our belongings, broke a few things without telling us, and due to thr buyer on new house lagging we weren't able to be there when everything was unpacked. Boxes that were brand new look like they've been shipped around the world, and stacked 6 feet high. Boxes labeled fragile were ignored. Several antique pieces of furniture (my moms grandmother) was broken without being told. Outrageous, overpriced and less than awful service. Absolutely do not recommend. read more

I recently used this moving company for a move from Santa Maria to Lompoc, and it turned into one of the worst billing experiences I've had in over 10 years. The sales department quoted me around $2,500 for the move. After the job was done, I was surprisingly billed over $2,900--all because the move went about 15 minutes over the estimated time. What was never disclosed to me was that the move was billed hourly, and that even going over by just 10-15 minutes would result in being charged for a full extra hour. The salesperson never explained this, which felt very misleading. On top of that, while I was disputing the billing confusion, the movers were left waiting and a manager/coordinator from the department actually threatened me, saying they would continue charging me since my payment wasn't completed. They tried to justify this by claiming it was "California law," but it felt like pressure tactics rather than customer service. Overall, I felt misled, intimidated, and unfairly charged. I had a very disappointing and terrible experience with this company. They charged me nearly double the estimated amount. Unfortunately, it seems I'm not the only one , this has reportedly happened to several other customers as well. Many locals were aware with that and I wish I talk to those people before and had read the negative reviews before confirming the booking. I hired movers from this company to load a truck from a small one-bedroom unit. I requested two movers, but they sent three, none of whom appeared to be experienced. We did not have a good experience! Jay, salesperson, after a site visit gave us the cost and dates. They arrived a day before we expected. Austin, the owner was pushy, aggressive. The worst was the move took much longer because each of the three days Austin sent a different team of movers, no consistency. Austin said he was the boss and made all decisions. There was not a human touch to Austin, all push and shove. Then when the bill came, he charged our credit card, double the price, Jay had quoted. Think Twice Before Using! This company is nothing but poor service, bad estimates, terrible communication, and inexperienced personnel. I hired Central Coast Moving for a short-distance move. I was abundantly clear about the departure and arrival locations, as well as the items to be moved. I sent pictures, a video, and provided measurements. Critical problems: Estimated time & cost were vastly underestimated. Move time was 3 X the estimate! Moving crew was focused on earning double-time for themselves! No one returned my calls on move day when I complained repeatedly. Moving crew was inexperienced & ill-equipped. Moving crew did NOT provide items as stated in the contract. EX: tv box, wardrobe box, contract-specified kits. Moving crew had NO first-aid supplies for themselves or water. A mover blamed me when he cut his finger unloading an item from their truck. He expected me to provide first aid so he wouldn't, "bleed all over my stuff". Movers damaged an internal wall down to the metal at the departure location. They tore a 3-foot gash in a mattress foundation piece. I had to continually ask and remind them to use the floor & door protectors. The $100 extra insurance coverage is a sham, in my opinion. I'm left to deal with the repairs myself. I advise extreme caution if considering this company! read more

On their ORIGINAL INVOICE it's stated that the quote was set and not to exceed $4200 regardless of any extras that needed to be applied. Before the movers came to move my things I ended up getting rid of the living room set I had and was still charged for it, even though they didn't have to move it. The three employees that came MOVED AS SLOW AS SNAILS, strolled around and took their sweet time. It was only supposed to take 6 hours for pick up and drop off. It took over 9hrs+ and they had the fucking nerve to charge me extra for it....and the extra charge? An additional $1,500 which EXCEEDED the $4,200 cap which totaled me out at $5320. When I confronted the company about the extra charge, they LITERALLY CHANGED MY INVOICE and FORGED MY SIGNATURE ON A NEW INVOICE THAT REFLECTED THE MODIFIED PRICE THAT I NEVER AGREED TO. Not only those things but they took off the cap of $4200 from their website and my invoice and said that I didn't know what I was talking about! Luckily I printed out the original documents that show it. My dresser ended up with a giant hole punched through the back of it, vintage light fixtures were lost and they were irreplaceable as they don't even manufacture them any longer and a footstool went missing. Long story short, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF AND LIED TO. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND A POOR JOB DONE. If I could give -100 stars I WOULD. read more

We received a couple of bids from various movers. We worked with Jay on our estimate and he was easy to work with and explained the process completely. Central Coast Moving was professional, provided a competitive bid and was local, so we decided to go with them. JC and Daniel showed up, on moving day when scheduled (we were moving a small apartment up north), and did a great job of wrapping everything really well before loading. When my husband made a comment about how thorough they were, JC said that they do it to protect the furniture. Offload was scheduled the following day due to the distance. Again, JC and Daniel were on time. They were quick, efficient, and so careful while they carried things up stairs, unwrapped, and helped place items in the new location. These guys were really great! We are getting ready to move cross country and are at the stage of securing movers. I have moved many times before and know the routine all too well. These guys are very nice and seem like really nice guys but writing the review to save you time more than anything. They explained what they do and how they do it which is the same as any other reputable mover but their price was over $15,000.00 than anybody. Again, nothing wrong with the guys or the information but unless you have bags full of cash and can afford to pay two times as much, might want to look around and read some reviews, there are some really good movers out there. read more

After calling a couple other local movers who were less than friendly and gave me crazy high quotes, I called Austin -- and I'm so glad I did! Austin and his crew are the ultimate professionals: courteous, super careful, efficient, smart, and strong. They welcomed direction and worked well as a team. We had a unique job where they had to put our furniture into their truck, then help rearrange the landlord's furniture, and finally move our things into a new 3-story house with tough corners. And after all that, they picked up a giant heavy dining room table from a shop down the street... disassembled it, brought it upstairs at the new house, reassembled, and fussed over perfect placement. Also, they brought their own tools, wrapped everything, didn't hesitate to remove doors when needed, and brought a bunch of wardrobe boxes for us to use at no charge. To top it off, he stuck to his very fair quote and kept a positive attitude the entire time. I don't think our move could have gone more smoothly!!
