UPDATE It's now been a solid month since my eye exam and still no contacts. The first ones they gave me didn't fit my eye. Order different ones. No samples and it has been two weeks and nothing. I can't go somewhere else to order because now the script they gave me is for the first size that didn't stay in my eye. I've asked for a new copy twice. Nothing. To say I'm am very bummed is an understatement. I don't wear glasses often and since going here I'm having to daily because I can't get the contact thing straight. Hoped this will be resolved soon before I go to the insurance company and ask them to pay again at another location for exam so that I can get things right. read more

The customer service that Tommy and David provide here are amazing. They have high end frames as well as a full lab in the back so grind your lenses right on the spot. This means faster turn around time and if anything goes wrong, you get it from the horse's mouth. There is no going back and forth from the lab technician to the person who sold the frames deflecting responsibility. They really take care of you here. I had some new lenses put into my existing ic! berlin frames here about an year ago. The lens had cracked at the edge and they took care of it. They also do some custom work here, meaning carving interesting designs in frameless glasses. read more

I think the eyeglasses fairy was watching over me when I decided to pop in to this place. I have been back multiple times and each time receive EXCELLENT customer service and frames/lenses that are a perfect fit. I truly feel like these guys really care. The other day, Ray was helping me with new lenses for my sunglasses and knew what type of finish the lenses came with originally. I purchased these frames 10 years ago somewhere else! FINALLY! I found a place who really says I can have glasses in an hour and follows through! I broke my glasses and was desperate! I called around to the chain stores and decided to go to one, when I arrived I was told I need a current eye prescription, the earliest appointment available was the next day and I wouldn't get my glasses in an hour anyways. So at this point I'm freaking out and are frustrated because I can't see! A really nice lady saw my frustration and steered me towards Central Eyeworks! This place looked like an Art/Jewelry Gallery, the staff Ray, David & Tommy set up an appointment with the doctor for an eye exam, helped me pick out the most amazing pair of glasses. It was so hard to decide which pair to with, the selection is amazing. I've been a customer of Central Eyeworks for years and years. They always have the best frames and the prescription lenses have been perfect. But, I write today because in addition to doing a professional job on the eyewear, Tommy and the team provided great customer service. You see, my dog Camp chewed up my best glasses. While I was waiting for a new pair to be made, he chewed up my back-up glasses. I know, I know....I should be able to keep my glasses out of the pup's mouth but he is very clever and I have been, well, distracted. When I picked up my replacement glasses (another great pair), I was given the glasses, case, cleaning supplies....and DOG TREATS! How cool is that. read more

Saturday afternoon: Walked in....store is empty except for two people in rear of store sitting down having a conversation... I study the case for a minute...nobody asks if I need assistance. I walk towards the two having the conversation and stand there...THEY CONTINUE THEIR CONVERSATION....they don't even acknowledge me.... I turn to leave, the guy with lab coat finally gets up to say something, I tell him don't bother. Didn't mean to interrupt your conversation, thought this was a 'business'. read more

I desperately needed a new prescription for glasses, and came here because it was the only place I could get an appointment last minute on a Saturday, and I'm so glad it worked out that way! A lot of people have mentioned that this place is more for "custom" frames, but I'd like to clarify that they really specialize in HIGH QUALITY frames (and lenses). Tommy, the owner, is very knowledgable of the various brands, materials, how they're made, and what will last a long time. The styles in the store range from classic to eccentric, but you can trust that all meet Tommy's high quality standard. The doctor is nice, very experienced as a previous reviewer mentioned, and the new prescription he gave me is SPOT ON! Solves every issue I'd been having with the previous prescription. After the exam, I was discussing my options with Tommy. I was honest with him that I had planned to get more affordable glasses at warby parker. However, Tommy is very familiar with the maker of my old glasses (purchased elsewhere), and spoke very highly of the quality of the frames, and encouraged me to just change the lenses. I was ambivalent to give up my glasses for several days since it would be difficult to work. To my surprise, they had my exact prescription in stock, and they changed the lenses in my glasses in just 20 MINUTES!!! Tommy also worked with my insurance, and was very patient while I obsessed over the fit of my frames. He straightened the frames and made fine adjustments as needed. He also gave me lens cleaner solution and cloths took time to show me the best way to maintain the lenses. Overall, a great experience at Central Eyeworks, and I'll certainly return for most optical needs. My impression is that this is an honest and friendly business that desires to help customers find high quality eyewear that will serve them well. read more

Came in here to service some old Maui Jims. I think the owner helped me. Tightened screws free of charge and cleaned all three pairs while providing excellent care instructions - along with a free glass cleaner. Customer service was excellent. Wouldn't accept payment despite my insistence. Will certainly revisit if we are in need of another pair of shades. read more

From the street it looks like a nice place but the staff thinks they know exactly what you want and try to push it on you. I just wanted to find a different pair of frames from the bread and butter places. Look elsewhere first before you try them here. read more

Not only did I receive top-notch customer service but they really saw to it (no pun intended) that I received everything that I ordered - and then some! The lenses were received in and they didn't feel they were perfect so shipped them back and asked if I would mind waiting a bit longer. These are my eyes; absolutely, I don't mind! Love this place!!! The ONLY reason they don't get 5 stars is becuse they do not take health insurance so I had to pay them out of pocket and be reimbursed. The most interesting, creative, and fun selection in the Valley. Trust me- I went to at least 10 different non-Luxottica stores (I swear those guys have 5 pairs of glasses that they keep slapping new brands on). The glasses have a European feel without the insane prices. Since going there I've had eye specialists amazed at how well my lenses were cut (I have horrible eyesight). I made my first visit today and what a gem of a place I didn't know about! The doctor is so special; the customer service so great - Sherry was warm and welcoming; the owner, Tommy helped me find the right glasses and fit them; he also does all the work on them himself. He told me things I didn't know about buying glasses, fitting them, etc and the price for 2 pairs was more reasonable than I have paid in the past. The selection is also great; They aren't pushy in any way and are very helpful. They all weighed in on how they looked on me and took IPad photos so I could see for myself. I needed to have my eyeglasses adjusted to fit my face better. I didn't purchase them here and so I figured I would be charged a small fee. Not only did the very nice gentleman adjust my glasses perfectly but he also didn't charge me! And he gave me a cleaning cloth without charging too! I highly recommend this place as the customer service is top notch. I will definitely be purchasing my next set of eyeglasses here. read more
