I called Dr Kesen's office and in 15 minutes I was speaking with the Julie and 10 minutes later with Dr. Kesen. They were like angels on the other end of the phone. I went to her office in The Villages and indicated I needed surgery for a severly torn retina the next day. I usually like to study my options but Dr Kesen was compassionate and knowledgeable. My impressioin was she had the confidence and experrence to perform this delicate surgery. I was afraid but decided to put my faith iin Dr. Kesen. The surgery went well. The recovery in a face down position was uncomfortable and the stiches in my eye were irritating but after 3 weeks, my field of view has been restored. My vision is improving but still a little blurry in the right eye. The vision quality takes 2-6 months to stabilize. I am optimistic with the results especially compared to my vision before the surgery. While in the face down position I had a chance to read. I found Dr. Kesen completed her residency at Temple University, studied ocular inflamation and immunology at the University of Illinois - Chicago and completed surgical fellowships at Duke University and John Hopkins University. She has been trained by the best schools in the country and has years of experience on the leading edge of retinal surgery. I reallized I was in excellent hands. I am thankful for Dr. Kesen and her staff at the Retina Specialty Institute in Inverness and The Villages.

Another patient said his wife started injections with Dr Venzara at Florida retina specialists and thought he was awesome. So, I tried him. Best decision I've made in years. He is very compassionate and understanding. He listens, answers all questions, and provides excellent information and advice. Plus you don't even know he is giving the injection in your eyes. And when recuperating, the recovery time is so much quicker. Thank you Dr V.!!! God bless you 4.9 stars out of 5 only because they didn't give me a $25 longhorn gift card - hahaha

I had gone through three unsuccessful retina surgeries with another doctor who told me I was part of a rare 4% with no treatment options. My retina was left in poor condition--a loose buckle, unremoved scar tissue, and not enough silicone oil to protect the eye. I was devastated. Then I found Dr. Venzara. He was thorough, kind, and honest. He immediately identified the problems and performed a complex surgery that lasted over 2.5 hours. Since that surgery in September, my retina has remained attached. I had a follow-up surgery in March to remove the oil, and there's been no scar tissue regrowth since. While the previous damage couldn't be undone, Dr. Venzara gave me the best possible outcome and peace of mind. I'm so grateful for his skill and integrity. If you're facing a difficult retinal condition, don't give up--go see Dr. Venzara. - Dahlia Freeman

Dr. Gilmer placed the artificial lens in an area which the lens manufacturer does not recommend and that caused exfoliation material from my iris clogging up the eyes drainage network. The clogging of the drainage network caused very high eye pressure that could not be relieved with medicinal eye drops. A second surgery was performed to reset the lens, however, resetting the lens did not relieve the very high eye pressure. Dr. Gilmer told me that if the high eye pressure was not quickly corrected I would lose my vision in that eye. He offered to do a laser surgery, but by that time, for several reasons which I will explain later, I had lost all confidence in Dr. Gilmer. I contacted a glaucoma specialist who performed four additional surgeries before the high eye pressure was sufficiently relieved. I estimate that I have lost around 75 to 80% of my vision in that eye. While being treated by Dr. Gilmer I was subjected to verbal abuse on two occasions and he blamed me for the surgery going wrong and that could not be further from the truth. I am in excellent health and have a very good immune system. It is my opinion that Dr. Gilmer tries to come across as a very friendly and caring physician and at first he fooled me. However, when the going got tough he was far from charming or caring. It is my opinion that he blames others for his short comings and that underneath his charming exterior lurks one of the "entitled".

I would definitely recommend Dr. Gilmer to anyone looking for an ophthalmologist. He was able to…read moresee me the same day and I didn't have to wait long.
