Dr. Gilmer placed the artificial lens in an area which the lens manufacturer does not recommend and that caused exfoliation material from my iris clogging up the eyes drainage network. The clogging of the drainage network caused very high eye pressure that could not be relieved with medicinal eye drops. A second surgery was performed to reset the lens, however, resetting the lens did not relieve the very high eye pressure. Dr. Gilmer told me that if the high eye pressure was not quickly corrected I would lose my vision in that eye. He offered to do a laser surgery, but by that time, for several reasons which I will explain later, I had lost all confidence in Dr. Gilmer. I contacted a glaucoma specialist who performed four additional surgeries before the high eye pressure was sufficiently relieved. I estimate that I have lost around 75 to 80% of my vision in that eye. While being treated by Dr. Gilmer I was subjected to verbal abuse on two occasions and he blamed me for the surgery going wrong and that could not be further from the truth. I am in excellent health and have a very good immune system. It is my opinion that Dr. Gilmer tries to come across as a very friendly and caring physician and at first he fooled me. However, when the going got tough he was far from charming or caring. It is my opinion that he blames others for his short comings and that underneath his charming exterior lurks one of the "entitled".

Then I go to another room and wait 32 minutes for the doctor. While his 'bedside' manners are exemplary, I think that his doting on each patient is what poses the delay. BUT MIND YOU, I LIKE HIM and when its your turn for the extra care, it feels good. Then next... years ago I was seen at this location and purchased a top notch pair of unique eyewear. Bummer! The personal care from Dr. F. was amazing. To him it was a light touch on my shoulder to affirm I could see the clock clearly- to me- everything. All the things I had missed for so long, clear for the first time in 20 years.I had previously used Dr Grossman to have annual eye exams with glasses and contacts to be able to SEE!!! I was so excited to reconnect with him at Dr. Filutowski's Eye Institute. He always gives me the facts relating to my eye exam and issues I will be facing as I age. All the staff are dedicated to providing service without any rose colored glasses. This is an annual visit for me to maintain my vision without issues.

My insurance should have been better verified so that I did not spend nearly a $1000 for a procedure that should have cost less than $250. When I returned for the second eye, they were going to charge me again until I explained that I had already overpaid with the first eye. They then applied the overcharge to the second eye. I am still waiting for the remainder to get refunded. My first surgery was April 2, 2026. My second was April 30, 2026. It's now June 17th and it may still be another month before I get the overpayment back.

Both the gentleman at the front and the receptionist (who barely would speak to me) were both unwelcoming and rude.When speaking with the gentleman to order my glasses when asked the basic question of what can I add on he waved around a list and wouldn't answer my question and when I asked to read it he shoved it at me and said "can you read this?!" And showed me the paper with the abbreated add ons. At that point I shut down and dont want to pay to add anything on, I'm not going to spend my money here. He was extremely rude to both my husband and I to the point where we both shocked and said something back to him at which point he apologized and he had to correct himself and take back what he said. After confirming my glasses we leave and as we are buckling our son in, he proceeds to follow us to the parking lot demanding I pay an 80 dollar bill that had not been disclosed before, never had to pay anything before the appointment and no one ever said anything until I left the building, so insane which is very unfortunate considering how great the dr is.
