We LOVED the Central library. Loved all the cool spaces to play and read and learn. My kids loved the reading steps and mom loved the natural light in thay area! We will for sure be going back a couple times this Summer.

This "version" of the Garland Central Library reopened in July of this year. It has a great vibe, almost reminiscent of a Mid-Century Modern time. This is a memorial library, also named the Nicholson Memorial Library. It was built with funds from a man named W.R. Nicholson who lost his mother and brother in a tornado. To memorialize them he bought a vacant band building and opened it as a library in 1933. The library is really a hub for people from Garland and it is well utilized. I came here for a book fair and then stayed for story time with my daughter, son in law, and grandkids. It was like a rock concert for kids and I did not feel out of place with my Rolling Stones t-shirt on! Seriously, the library staff did a great job engaging the kids and helping them to have a great time! Review #2155

The library has been our go to since we moved to garland in 2021. The entire library system in garland is amazing and helps me keep my kiddo busy all summer or during school breaks. From baby story times, to toddler activities, and even up to teen board game nights or adult book clubs, there is always something to do. The new library is gorgeous and the staff is so dedicated to helping. Even without an event, we go and read in the book books or play a board game on the bottom floor in the kids section. I am sad the slide didn't work out and wish they would remove it - I think it ended up being too dangerous and the slide is now closed to the public

Very helpful at the front desk. Looks clean and quiet. They have lots of classes offered and readings for younger age groups.

Wonderful children's selection. The librarians I've sought help from have been courteous and accommodating.

One of the women working downstairs at the reference desk was extremely rude and unaccommodating. 6/11/19 @ 4:20

Upstairs area can get noisy due to children but downstairs is more secluded with private study rooms and work areas.

Not a library.... More like a daycare…read more..... For the past few times i have visited to work on stuff they always have kid running around screaming and being loud.... What happened to being quiet in a library???? This place feels like a daycare and will always be kids running around screaming. Don't recommend if you are trying to find a quiet place to work or use the library in general.

Goodbye Casa View, hello Lochwood! After holding my breath for a couple of years, my hood finally…read morehas a new library branch. And let me tell you something, it was so worth the wait! The exterior is modern and funky with eco-friendly xeriscape landscaping and a huge (ha-yuge!) parking lot. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. It's bright, warm, friendly, and inviting, everything the old branch wasn't. They even saved part of the old YMCA building and worked it into the new design. Thrifty! I still absolutely love having the ability to set up an online queue and have a nonstop reading list at my disposal. No more driving all over Dallas, hitting whatever branch happens to have the book I want. And the only way the pickup could be easier is if someone delivered the books to my house. You go to the bookshelf that holds all the requests and grab your books, then you either check out at the front desk or...wait for it...you use one of the two self-check kiosks! I can be in and out in less than 2 minutes. (TWHS!) There are meeting rooms, quiet study rooms, and I hear there's a theater even though I haven't seen it myself. There are at least 20 computers and a ton of desks and chairs scattered throughout the entire building. There are also numerous electrical outlets if you need to plug in a laptop. The after-hours book drop was a little hard to find at first, but I finally figured out it's on the back side of the building (facing Marchant Circle). You can now drop books off without even getting out of your car. I've always been a huge supporter of libraries and I couldn't be happier with how my tax dollars were spent on this branch.

I love bookstores and Libraries, and I've been lucky that until now, I have found ones I love. But…read morethe Richardson library just doesn't make me get excited to come into it. The children's book area has plenty of books, but there's a lack of imagination and creativity. Again, I'm just not inspired to want to walk around and engage with the books. It feels too sterile. I hope that makes sense.

The Richardson Public Library has been a staple in my life almost all of my life. I remember…read morecoming to here to research papers I was writing all the way back to my young school days. While the library is all the things a library should be and you would think it would be, the Richardson Public Library is SO much more... For example this past weekend they held "Eggstravaganza" which was essentially fun, games, and of course, an Easter egg hunt, for the kids. They also hold Mah Jongg lessons and host a Mah Jongg League, host computer classes, AI lessons, teach Excel, host job clinics, as well as several other events (check out my photo of the current and upcoming events calendar). These activities have been a great way for me to not only support them, but also re-connect with the community. The library is SO good in fact, last week they won the Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. Wgat's more is that this is their 20th year in a row of winning this honor...Congratulations Richardson Public Library and thank you to all the staff and volunteers for doing what you all do!!!
