Jacqueline was very helpful it was our first time here we got our library cards and everybody was so helpful what a wonderful professional staff you have. Very clean, very nice library, with lots of good information! So very disappointed today 7/11/17. My eight year old daughter had picked up a sheet there for summer reading and had worked so diligently on filling out all the little bubbles for every 20 minutes that she read. It took her two weeks to complete it and she was so proud of herself. So we drove 30 minutes out of our way to go by the library and as we turn in the sheet to the male librarian -he looks at us and says, "oh we found out a couple days ago that company went out of business. " He could have congratulated her or given her a sticker or some little trinket to congratulate her for the reading accomplishment she did. I'm very disappointed in the library's response to this situation and how they treated my daughter today. Regardless if the prize promised was from a company that went out of business, I think the library should have come up with some kind of reward system to make up for that since they sponsored this summer reading program and the least they could've done was reward her for her hard work and present her a paper certificate! that would not have cost the library much at all. Very disappointed today to say the least. Luckily my daughter took it in stride, threw it in the trash and went to pick out another book to read this week.

"I have always imagined that paradise would be a kind of library." - Jorge Luis Borges…read more Today I walked into a new Library. Well, new to me. It's in Garland, Texas, a town not far from where I live. And it felt like a kids paradise from the moment I walked down the stairs into the children's area. I saw children gathered around for a special event, and they were all filled with joy and many were giggling. What a beautiful experience it was to see such happiness around books. And isn't that what being a child is supposed to be like? The walls were covered with creative nature scenes, just like you're walking into a storybook. And they carved out the sweetest little reading nooks so you could enjoy your time, privately, with a great story. There was a wonderful artistic mobile hanging over the area where you walk down to the children's area, and fun seating for storytime readings. And let's not miss out on the slide kids can go down to get to the children's area. What a fun idea! Hats off to whomever thought that one through! Every person I talked to in this library was genuinely nice. It truly felt like a safe and happy place to be - for both children and adults. I'm coming back with my grandchildren, and I already know it will be a great adventure for us all!

Wonderful library full of an entire bottom floor built for kiddos! There's a computer corner,…read morereading nooks, a large slide that kids can take to the bottom level (it hasn't been open though the last 2 times we visited), an LED interactive wall for kids to explore, small toy ponies for the littles to ride, and thousands of books! I am seriously so impressed with it here in the middle of Downtown Garland. My two toddlers have had the best times here and looking forward to attending their story times and activities.

This is an amazing library! And it's beautiful to look at too!…read more Anyone can get a card to use this library! Access everything on line or in person. It was time to get a library card that was mine! Was time to stop borrowing friend's cards. Why pay for books or buy books when your taxes, as a homeowner, offer you free book rentals! AMAZING!! I love to be read too and you can read a variety of books for free! The best bang for your buck! Really happy I discovered reading books again. Not sure why I ever slowed down. Collin County College is awesome! Simply need to go in person to apply for the card. It's so simple! It gives you access to ALL libraries in Collin county and the State of Texas. Everyone should have a library card! I wish more people would be interested in being part of a library. It's so cool to have access to knowledge. Be extraordinary and join any library across the country! The only draw back is they don't have audiobooks. Suppose students don't have time to read anything but text books! If you return the book late you will be charged late fees. Only fair. There are rules you have to follow. Others are waiting for that book: Be kind and return on time. July 2024

Love this Barnes and Nobles in Garland!!…read more They have a pretty darn good selection of magazines, especially crafting, cooking, lifestyle, and women focused titles. The womens book section is also excellent, lots of fiction, self-care, and inspirational reads at reasonable prices. The Starbucks inside B&N is a huge plus. Grabbing a coffee while browsing magazines or purchasing a new book makes the experience relaxing and enjoyable. The store is clean, well organized, and has a comfortable atmosphere that encourages you to stay awhile. Definitely a go-to spot for book lovers and anyone who enjoys a good magazine and coffee break! They do have restrooms here. However, people are real pigs, so the restrooms aren't very clean. Ugh. The real Starbucks could take and learn a lot from them, never a botched drink, their selection of pastries and food is far superior to the regular Starbucks, no music to get in the way I will go out of my way to have a coffee and relax there than any Starbucks. Bookstore and combination with the coffee shop is just outstanding. Can't go wrong with this place where you want a cup of coffee or a book, or a puzzle yeah the prices are a little high but then again where aren't they today. would have rated them five stores, but it's a big store and there is or was checkout space at both ends of the store but the last couple years they've really only ever staffed the one side so you have to walk all the way to one end of the store to pay and then walk all the way back out the other end if you parked in the main parking lot.

So many tolls. Tolls, tolls, tolls. Yes, you can take other routes but wow. It's hard to believe…read morethis, but Dallas seems to have more tolls than Orlando and that's saying something! Currently extending around 52 miles that partially surrounds downtown Dallas like an outer beltline, the PGBT goes from Rowlett to Grand Prairie. The tollway is completely person-free, having been the first in the United States to switch to electronic only. As for the road, I stuck to the right lane and set my cruise control to the speed limit. Cars blew past me the entire time. Do they not do any sort of speed enforcement here? Everything's bigger in Texas, including the speeding. I am not looking forward to getting a bill in the mail because the Texas system does not work with the North Carolina Quick Pass. It's really disappointing that these agencies can't all work together to fleece drivers uniformly!

PGBT! A New World Order! A Thousand Points of Light!…read more This tollway gets you east to west through most of Plano. The TxDot Toll Tags will bill you or they just take a photo of your license plate and you can floor it. This is pretty much like the autobahn- don't drive slowly on here. You're paying to drive on this turnpike, damnit, you should be able to drive as fast as you want. Read my lips- no more traffic. There's not many places for the cops to hang out. If you're doing the speed limit, you're gonna get the bird, honked at, cursed at. LBJ is more your speed if you want slow and free. This Turnpike doesn't have the President George Bush museum or library on it, that's in College Station. President George Bush stopped the notorious trafficker Manuel Noriega, and he's also stopped the notorious Metroplex traffic here in Plano! Hail to the Chief!
