This place is a shot hole. Do not stay here. Dirty. Not maintained. Loud music playing all night. Stay away!

Five-night stay with no routine housekeeping - extremely disappointing for a repeat guest…read more I have stayed at the Cambria White Plains several times for business, but after this experience I am seriously reconsidering returning. I checked in Sunday evening and immediately found the room was not adequately cleaned, including hair in the bathroom. I reported it the following morning and requested that the room be cleaned. The hotel texted me that morning stating, "We've arranged Housekeeping service for your room following your third night." The room was cleaned Monday only because I had reported the condition in which I received it. After that, I received no housekeeping for the remainder of my five-night stay - no trash removal, fresh towels, clean linens, replenished coffee cups, or routine room service of any kind. The promised third-night service never occurred. When I finally called the front desk Thursday evening, I was told that if housekeeping had not been scheduled at check-in, my room would not be serviced. That explanation directly contradicted the written message I had received from the hotel stating that housekeeping had already been arranged. The physical condition of the room was also disappointing for a rate exceeding $300 per night. There was visible evidence of prior water damage and repairs, including a large patched section of ceiling, damaged/stained walls, water damage inside framed bathroom artwork, and mismatched/incomplete bedside furnishings. I have photos documenting the condition. I raised concerns during my stay, contacted Choice Hotels Customer Relations, and opened Case #13625998. Choice documented my complaint and advised that it had been shared with hotel management. I then contacted the hotel directly with photographs and documentation requesting that management address the situation. I checked out after five nights without a manager ever contacting me or acknowledging what happened. As a repeat business guest and Choice Privileges Elite member, this was particularly disappointing. I travel to this area regularly and have previously continued choosing this hotel despite some imperfections. After this stay - and particularly the lack of follow-through - I am now looking at other properties for my upcoming trips.

Returned to stay here 12 years after giving it a 3 star review. My takeaway? This property is so…read moreoverpriced it's not funny. We paid nearly $700 a night for a 2 bedroom and it was very average quality at best. Some of the downsides: The TV's didn't work well, they were very laggy and had an unworkable interface. You'd hit the button and 10 seconds later the TV would react. Or the channel guide would scroll endlessly and not respond to picking a channel. They're also not smart TVs so you couldn't connect to your streaming services. The walls and ceilings are so thin, you hear every little movement of your neighbors. Also, our room was directly over the bar/lounge and it was super noisy even after 11pm. The bathrooms were a bit grimy, with discolored caulk and dirty air vents. Also, the water pressure was very low in both the kitchen and bathrooms and the tub drained very slowly, we had to basically stand in 5 inches of water when showering. The kitchen was a bit neglected, with lots of scuffs and marks on the floors and in and outside the cabinets. There was also not enough flatware. The WIFI was atrocious. I was getting 1-2 mbps, while on my mobile network I was getting close to 200 mbps. I just stayed in mobile data for the entire trip. And finally we had a reservation for 5 people in 2 br plus a sofa bed. Even though this was in the reservation details we only received 3 blankets and 4 bath towels. Was it the worst hotel in the world? Definitely not. There were some good points. The staff was friendly, there was lots of free parking and there was a complimentary breakfast which was pretty good. But for $1400 for a 2 day stay I expected much more than this. One star from me, it's both expensive and substandard. I would not stay here again.

We didn't try the breakfast since it runs early (6:30-9am) and we were still jet-lagged, but I appreciated having the option. The room itself was the biggest downside. It felt old and overdue for an update. The bed was flimsy, the comforter had very little filling left (and what was there looked hardened), and I ended up sleeping without it and feeling cold most nights. The pillows were also surprisingly small. Having a kitchen and sitting area was helpful, but the lack of overhead lighting made the space harder to use. We were told housekeeping services happen every two days, but our room wasn't cleaned at all during the four nights we stayed. On top of that, the toilet handle broke on day two -- maintenance did come quickly to fix it, which I appreciated. We also ran out of toilet paper right before checkout, and there wasn't any extra in the room. The front desk staff were consistently kind and helpful, though they often seemed overwhelmed by other guests monopolizing their time. They handled it well, but I was secondhand stressed watching lines form. Noon checkout was a real plus. Overall, this stay was a mixed bag - convenient location and friendly staff, but the rooms and housekeeping fell significantly short.

On my most recent stay everything was excellent from the service to the room to the amenities. And most importantly, the bed was just the way I like it... firm, nice linens, and we slept well. Rooms were spotless, had nice giant windows, everyone we came in contact with were friendly, bath towels were fluffy, and the hotel is beautiful. The bathtub/shower was tricky as you had to take a large step to climb over the tub get into it to shower. Once in the water pressure was good. Large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel attached to the wall. I think our favorite part of our stay was the complementary yogurt ice cream maker in the lobby. That was a special touch. Had a nice selection of ice cream flavors. It was yummy!! Dale at the front desk was very helpful. He helped us with a few minor things and we appreciated that. My hairdryer wasn't quite hot enough and they brought me another one right away. There are quite a few restaurants in walking distance. We had a large family brunch at the attached Red Horse restaurant (independently owned). It was just ok and service was S L O W. We recommend Columbia House. Lunch was very good there and service was right on. We were only in town for one night but I would stay here again for sure.

Let me tell you something, This Hotel has gone from a three-star hotel to a 4-star hotel, but I give them a five and nothing less. I am a proud travel pass member since 2015. They have done a fantastic job of remodeling. The rooms are FABULOUS, absolutely fabulous and comfortable. It is a luxury room with satisfying upgraded furniture. The bed, couch, chairs, picture, television, and bathroom exemplifying sophistication. Offering bedside reading and access to downloadable books to read. Charging outlets and the lighting sets a romantic tone. All you need to do is have them give you the romantic package and add wine to the list, they aim to please! They offer event space, a swimming pool, fitness center, self-parking as well as Valet parking, a market center with Starbucks, airport shuttle, laundry service, housekeeping, and in room dining. The remodeling has enhanced the bar experience and the dining experience. The restaurant, which is named Whisk, serves this spacious and huge Dine-In area, serving breakfast and dinner only. It is a totally different set-up from the past, and the food seems like it has improved but the service from the dining staff remains the same, friendly, personalized, professional, and pleasant. I had the buffet for about $27 plus. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I should not have gotten the buffet because of my diet, but I did well by eating one plate. Next time I will try A La Carte. I have visited the bar in the past and you can dine at the bar, the people at the bar at the best around. The go out of the way to talk to you and as many times as I have been there, they know me. The valet parking is serviced Metropolis; I paid $34 for about 18 hours and the staff are enthusiastic about parking your car. Pro tip- Have the buffet ordered as part of your stay. It made for a genuinely uncomfortable night's sleep. I later found out I wasn't alone. Others in my group had the same problem, and some ended up needing portable AC units delivered to their rooms, so this seems to be a recurring issue, not a one-off. I reported it but never got a replacement unit or a real fix, just some hotel points as compensation. If you're someone who needs a cold room to sleep well, test your AC before you settle in for the night. Beyond that, there's a lot to like here. This is a genuinely cool older hotel with huge rooms, a great choice if you need an extended stay in White Plains. My room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were kind and attentive throughout, which counts for a lot. A couple other practical notes: checking in before 3:00 PM was surprisingly difficult, so if you're flying in, plan accordingly. The lobby also has a nice office/work area downstairs, but the music playing throughout runs loud, so it's not ideal if you need to dial into meetings. Great bones and a great staff, but the AC problem is a real issue, and until it's resolved, I couldn't book here again.

We had reserved a room with a King Bed. We got one with two queens. Had we not arrived almost six hours late, I would have gone back to the front desk, but... It should not have been a problem. However, the bed took the prize as the single worst bed I have ever experienced anywhere - anytime. One side was firm and stiff - almost like it was brand new. The other side was a collapsed pit. Unfortunately the middle was "spiked" preventing me from sleeping on the firm side. The quality of the breakfast items was poor and the single staff member assigned to breakfast could not keep up with the crowd. Coffee urns emptied and sat empty, trash bins filled to overflowing. It was not the poor woman's fault - they needed three staff members, not one. The staff member who checked us in didn't offer us bottles of water (as they do at all other locations) and when I came back in the morning, he struggled to find the multiple flats of water that were available. Had I not stayed at many other Residence Inns, I would never stay at one again.

When I told him that I had booked here, he was skeptical, and referenced some past negative history, including a yelp review from three years ago. I told him that the price was much better than some of the other chains in the area. I told him that many of the recent reviews that appeared on Expedia were quite favorable. The rooms apparently have all been recently redone. The pictures provided on the booking website made the room look both clean and modern. The reviews all referenced the cleanliness simplicity and economy of the motel. So despite my friend's misgivings, I kept the reservation. I figured I would arrive early and scope the place out to give myself enough time to make other arrangements if the room was not to my satisfaction. That is exactly what I did. The room looked exactly like the listings on the booking website. The sheets were pristine White and clean. The bathroom was perfectly clean. At night, after the return from my party, the facility parking lot was filled with decent late model vehicles. The facility was quiet. The beds were comfortable.
