Returned to stay here 12 years after giving it a 3 star review. My takeaway? This property is so overpriced it's not funny. We paid nearly $700 a night for a 2 bedroom and it was very average quality at best. Some of the downsides: The TV's didn't work well, they were very laggy and had an unworkable interface. You'd hit the button and 10 seconds later the TV would react. Or the channel guide would scroll endlessly and not respond to picking a channel. They're also not smart TVs so you couldn't connect to your streaming services. The walls and ceilings are so thin, you hear every little movement of your neighbors. Also, our room was directly over the bar/lounge and it was super noisy even after 11pm. The bathrooms were a bit grimy, with discolored caulk and dirty air vents. Also, the water pressure was very low in both the kitchen and bathrooms and the tub drained very slowly, we had to basically stand in 5 inches of water when showering. The kitchen was a bit neglected, with lots of scuffs and marks on the floors and in and outside the cabinets. There was also not enough flatware. The WIFI was atrocious. I was getting 1-2 mbps, while on my mobile network I was getting close to 200 mbps. I just stayed in mobile data for the entire trip. And finally we had a reservation for 5 people in 2 br plus a sofa bed. Even though this was in the reservation details we only received 3 blankets and 4 bath towels. Was it the worst hotel in the world? Definitely not. There were some good points. The staff was friendly, there was lots of free parking and there was a complimentary breakfast which was pretty good. But for $1400 for a 2 day stay I expected much more than this. One star from me, it's both expensive and substandard. I would not stay here again. read more

We stayed here over the holidays mainly because of its proximity to family, and location-wise it did the job. Being close to Wegmans was especially convenient. We didn't try the breakfast since it runs early (6:30-9am) and we were still jet-lagged, but I appreciated having the option. The room itself was the biggest downside. It felt old and overdue for an update. The bed was flimsy, the comforter had very little filling left (and what was there looked hardened), and I ended up sleeping without it and feeling cold most nights. The pillows were also surprisingly small. Having a kitchen and sitting area was helpful, but the lack of overhead lighting made the space harder to use. We were told housekeeping services happen every two days, but our room wasn't cleaned at all during the four nights we stayed. On top of that, the toilet handle broke on day two -- maintenance did come quickly to fix it, which I appreciated. We also ran out of toilet paper right before checkout, and there wasn't any extra in the room. The front desk staff were consistently kind and helpful, though they often seemed overwhelmed by other guests monopolizing their time. They handled it well, but I was secondhand stressed watching lines form. Noon checkout was a real plus. Overall, this stay was a mixed bag - convenient location and friendly staff, but the rooms and housekeeping fell significantly short. read more

I stayed at this property at the last minute during a sudden, treacherous snowstorm. The hotel sold out in 30 minutes, according to the front desk staff. The hotel was clean, and the room was comfortable, but what made my stay 5* was the front desk staff member, D'Asia. She kept a positive attitude despite long lines of stressed-out folks waiting for the check-in, a smoke alarm going off, and the front door repeatedly opening, sending freezing air to the lobby. I have a background in hospitality, and some folks are just made for the work. When I saw D'Asia the next morning, she was still smiling and friendly. She was helpful to me, and this made me a Hyatt fan. Great hire, Hyatt. read more

Upon my arrival, I was delighted to discover that my room had been upgraded at no additional cost. However, upon entering the room, I noticed that it was not entirely clean. Consequently, I proceeded to the front desk, where I encountered an exceptionally accommodating staff member. She graciously offered me a complimentary dinner and beverage and even upgraded my room to a suite. The suite boasted two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and two double beds, complemented by a king-sized bed. The room was immaculate, well-maintained, and exceptionally comfortable. I had no reservations or complaints. While I have read various reviews, I was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service I received. The pricing is reasonable, and the overall experience is highly satisfactory. However, I would suggest that the restaurant could benefit from further attention to detail. The menu is ok but the kitchen is very slow even with just a few customers ordering food. It took :30 minutes to get a burger and fries. The fries were not very good. The burger was just average. In summary, this hotel meets my needs and expectations. I visit Sloan Kettering annually, and I intend to utilize this hotel again. Additionally, the complimentary parking is a significant advantage, as parking near Sloan Kettering can be challenging. We have had to stay at a hotel for six months due to damage to our home. We came to the Hyatt House in Harrison NY and found an enclave of the friendliest, most amenable people in the world. What could have been a harrowing existence has become an experience like being taken in by family with concern and friendliness that is unsurpassed. The staff at this hotel is the definition of the hospitality industry. From the housekeeping to the maintenance to the front desk, the personnel are top flight! I must identify a few superstars at the hotel. D'Asia at the desk is the ultimate host, whose nature and smile would warm anyone's heart. She is the best!! Followed very closely by Roland and Naeemah, who fight for the guest as of they were family. Andy at the bar is the icon of the proverbial bartender, who listens and enliven the atmosphere just by creating excellent cocktails in an entertai ing manner. We have spent over six months at this hotel and leaving will be like moving from home. My wife and I think Hyatt should use these people to train staff world wide. There are limited hotel options close to Corporate offices in White Plains. This week the Hyatt House was the only hotel in a 20 minute radius with availability so it was our only option. I am a Marriott loyalist. I was pleasantly surprised to find the rooms recently renovated and they have quality bar food (grass fed beef burgers as an example). I was disappointed that I was given a handicap room without them letting me know. But I arrived late and did not feel like requesting another room. There were more rooms available. The room was clean with plenty of lighting and outlets / changing stations. They do not have smart TVs but it did not matter because it was a very short stay. They have a "full breakfast" - eggs, pork sausage / bacon, waffles, assorted breads, fruit and oatmeal. I opted for the oatmeal and it served it's purpose. If the Marriott properties are booked for future trips, I would not have a problem staying here. read more

The worst hotel I have stayed. The worst Hyatt I have stayed. I am writing this review by listening to the next room's conversations at 1:30am as I cannot sleep. I complained to the reception but they cannot change the cheap construction/architecture problem. The room design is modern and clean. All appliances are pretty new and layout is very functional and everything is in working order. A lot of light sources ( which some hotels have limitations) make the rooms very bright and the rooms are well designed. Nice windows you can see trees with good lights. The front desk people are kind and helpful. It is so unfortunate that the building architecture has a fundamental flaw that noises are transparent walls to walls that you can hear neighbors clearly including their coughing and we cannot have a good night sleep. Also the webpage information says free breakfast is included. Buffet is not offered now as there is no one to cook right now. The website picture showing the nice buffet is misleading. Right now you can pick up a breakfast bag at the reception. My daughter and I stayed at Marriott courtyard White Plains in the year end for 7 nights. It is older and not morden like here, but we could have a good night sleep there and pretty basic enough breakfast buffet. I just discussed with my daughter which hotel we prefer. Except the architecture flaw, everything here exceeds much higher. The hotel design, room design, layout, new furniture-VERY comfortable stay. Also a big supermarket, Wagmans, is 1 min drive. (walking distance if not this cold) . Overall, if there is no noisy neighbor OR the next door to your bedroom is vacant, this hotel is pretty good to stay. read more

Front desk check in staff is as rude as it gets, the manager is equally awful and unprofessional, and they have an unreasonable policy to charge 1.5 times the rates of the room if you try to check in early. We stay here every Christmas Eve (except for '20 and '21 due to Covid). We choose this place mainly for their reasonably priced suites and EV charging stations. Pre Covid, this hotel was very wasteful, providing styrofoam plates for breakfast and standard travel size shampoo, conditioner, etc. I applaud the recent changes, such as no more styrofoam, less plastic, and refillable containers in the bathroom. They could do even more, however, like bamboo utensils instead of plastic wrapped in plastic. One of the two EV charging stations was down. The charging is also overpriced at $2/hr. read more

I was there for a beautiful wedding, and every single person in the hotel was complaining about the heat. They shut the air conditioning off because of the change of season, and they told us just to open up the windows. My room was 86°. Some windows did not even open much at all. I had to purchase a fan. They also have a shuttle bus, and when you needed to contact the hotel to come home from your destination, nobody answered the phone so I wound up having to take an Uber home to the hotel. Unfriendly staff without smiles. They at least do their job. Bar tender wore gloves for all functions including food service, cleaning, touching face, poring drinks and getting glasses to serve. Rooms, and facility are all nice, but the breakfast buffet was the worst we ever experienced (overcooked, tasteless food, watered down juices). Called ahead to verify that we could check in early to our two rooms at 2pm for a 4pm shuttle from the hotel to a wedding venue. We were told both our rooms would be ready, and that we could check in early. Both rooms were not ready at 2pm. Front desk told us it would take fifteen to twenty minutes for the rooms to be ready, and that they would text us when they were. Fifty minutes later we still had not received a text so we went back to the front desk, and we were told that one room would be ready "soon". It was after 3pm that one of the rooms was finally ready, so we all got changed there and headed off to the wedding...not knowing if we had a second room to come back to. Staff told us that they would text us at the wedding when the second room was ready...they did not. We did have a room waiting for us, but it was not the one we were told we were getting when we first checked it. We won't be coming back to Hyatt House anytime "soon"; neither should you. read more

A beautiful, clean, updated hotel with friendly staff. Margaret working the front desk was so personable and very welcoming. She didn't hesitate coming out from behind the counter to talk to me and I even got a hug! The world could use a lot more people like Margaret! Our room was perfect! Clean, spacious and updated. I really appreciated it. It appears that they offer coffee and water at all hours, which is nice. We enjoyed dinner with our kids and drinks in their bar area. We all enjoyed our food. And the bartender serving us was generous with his time even though he had plenty of people to wait on at the bar. He was a bit rough when I first met him. He gave me a little attitude, but I didn't give him any in return and was nice, so he really softened up and showed us a different side himself as the night progressed. No complaints. There was a giant coffee stain in the rug outside my room and it was never cleaned. One night, no heat and the next morning, no hot water. I was going to stay for 7 days, left after 4. Had a 2 night stay in a 2 bedroom booked over a weekend - Friday thru Sunday. Found out ourselves AFTER going out to dinner and returning to the room that the room had no heat. Temperatures outside were below freezing. Temperature in the room was 59 F all night, froze, did not sleep and wI'll head to daughters wedding exhausted. Asked to have the stay comp'd, manager was unempathetic (comp'd one night) moved us to another room and proceeded to tell me if I was aggressive with staff she'd have me removed. All-in-all miserable and a sign the Hyatt brand is in deep decay. That's why I love Marriott and will only stay there when I travel again. read more

Although, the hotel is beautiful outside and the location is ideal for retreat away from home the manager does not take account for what his workers are doing. Corvid is over and excuses of why workers do and do not want to come to work is over. Rudeness and harsh words should never be said to customers paying your salary or in front of young children. Staff will act in the manor of the way the Manager and Owner treat them. That being said when customers reach out to you for questions or comments do not brush them off like they are yesterdays garbage. If a customer was treated rudely give that customer a discount on their rate or a free meal. Because in the long run you will be yet another crappy hotel in a nice neighborhood that people give a second thought too. Be responsible for your workers, understand and listen to them as well instead of yelling at them, they get frustrated and they in turn yell at the customers. My wedding was this past weekend and I reserved rooms at the Hyatt House. I started off with a man named Charlie who worked on getting my contract and reservations set, after about a week or two it was complete radio silence. Found out that Charlie was no longer there and Ashley Whitaker took over. I called for 2 weeks straight, received her voicemail every time, left messages, and had to contact corporate to get a response. Finally, I get Ashley Whitaker on the phone and she was the nastiest human I have ever had to have an interaction with. She was rude from the start of our phone call and personally as a bride choosing/figuring out a hotel should be the last thing to stress about and it was the WORST part about this whole process. When I told her I wanted to speak to someone above her because of the way she was speaking to me she told me I could but that it would go to David Roman who would bring it back to her and she would reply with the same answer and THEN proceed to HANG UP on me. This was the most important day of my life and NEVER should a bride or anyone for that matter be treated like that. This place is disgusting. Carpets and elevators are very dirty. My room was not clean. I found them on Airbnb. They never responded to my complaint. They didn't do anything to fix the problems with the room. No offer to clean it, no offer of a different room. I had driven ten hours and all I wanted to do was sleep. This is our favorite place to stay when we visit the area. The area is perfect. Super peaceful! Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of White Plains. From check-in to check-out there are never any problems. At check-in we had the wonderful Vernon check us in! He is so pleasant and helpful! Beyond friendly and welcoming. Anything we needed he was able to get for us in a matter of minutes. The hotel is very clean! The grounds, the hallways, the amenities, everything. The hotel has a very nice sized gym, pool, bbq area that is super nice, basketball court, business center, market, bar, and much more! They offer grocery delivery to you! The rooms are so comfy! Whether you get the regular one bedroom with no kitchen or one with a kitchen. The bed is so soft and the pillows feel like little clouds. They have shampoo, conditioner and lotion in the room for you. If you forget to pack a toothbrush or toothpaste all you have to do is call the desk to let them know and they bring it right to you! Very difficult to actually get to the hotel .We arrived at little after 9 pm after circling the area 2 times and road weary, terrible signage. We booked at booking.com. Once we arrived we were greeted with an abrupt request for our name. We were given our room keys and were hoping to jump in the pool, very disappointed to find the pool closed at 8:30 pm and did not reopen till 10 am, so that was not happening . Pool did look really nice. We went to unpack and shower. Initial reaction was that it was a nice room with fridge and modern amenities, nice kitchen area. While setting up the pullout couch we found only one blanket and one pillow . When we went into the bathroom to shower we were discussed to find hair on the floor and in the shower from someone else's various body parts. We headed down to talk to the night hotel clerk we were given keys to an upgraded room on another floor only to find more hair in the showers and on the floor and on the carpet and loud parties on both sides that could clearly be heard through the walls. For the price we were paying we really thought we should have a clean room. Back downstairs to the desk the clerk who seemed genuinely apologetic this time. We got keys to another room only to find another dirty bathroom and to make things worse there were what we assume to be lipstick smudges on the blanket and some sort of food or something also on the comforter. Defeated and tired we took our bags and decided to just drive through to our next stop dragging a overtired and disgruntled teenager with us. When we told the clerk we were giving up he assured us that his manager would call us and he offered us beverages for the road ... 2 days later no call from anyone. read more

I had to add a star. I needed to add a few days to my stay unexpectedly. I was late for the (free) breakfast on the first day due to the exhaustion of the previous night. I saw the CLOSED sign & Ronny manning the buffet could not have been nicer beckoning me to help myself even though it was clearly after closure. Amazing. A family behind me saw this and followed behind me and again-- a smile from Ronny. Where did they find this lovely human? Thank you Ronny for your kindness. Next day I needed to go to the front desk and found a long line. Another patient employee named Anna-Kay smiling at each customer who was less than perfect and rushing her. This is the seventh time we've stayed here at HYATT HOUSE WHITE PLAINS. There's five of us in my family so we like the trio suite which is a two bedroom. Throughout the years of staying here for 1 to 3 weeks at a time, we've experienced the rate go from $150 per night to $400 per night. This is Ritz Carlton level fees almost! Unfortunately the level of service has declined during this time. This summer we stayed here twice. Once the room smelled of smoke and it was a non-smoking room. Next, the kitchen and the bathroom was filthy. Literally filthy! I wiped the shower wall with a washcloth and it was covered in brown gunk. I have no time or desire to complain while I'm here. It wastes my time waiting for help which always takes too long and puts a damper on my stay. I just leave. Additionally, the fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night, prompting the fire department to come and all residents to stand outside and wait. They extended breakfast for a half an hour which I didn't know about until two days later. Also, breakfast ends at 9 AM. Since we fly in from Los Angeles that 6 AM for us! So the five of us had breakfast here three times in three weeks. So on top of the $400 a night, I have to go out and spend another $30 on breakfast. That's normal I suppose, but one morning I came to get some oatmeal and I arrived at 8:56. The doors to the to the cafeteria were already closed!The lady let me in to get some oatmeal and then found that it was empty. She said she would try and make more tomorrow! The staff that works here must be paid the same amount that the staff at a $69 per night motel are paid because their skills are on that level. Its a slimy experience overall, considering how nice they make it look on the surface. The staff is constantly in the main lobby working, because the kitchen is right there. They leave the doors open and are making noise and screaming and it sounds like they're throwing plates around! It never stops. When they're done then someone else comes out, closes off the lobby and mops the floor. I am checking out of the Hyatt House White Plains today and will most certainly explore other options in Westchester in order to not have to come here again. read more

Not bad but could be better. My rating is 3.5 but alas Yelp doesn't do half stars and the staff was friendly enough to make this a 4 star review. Pros- good location, clean hotel and rooms, windows open, friendly staff. Taylor and another front desk clerk were inviting and very helpful. While waiting in the lobby I saw that staff was respectful of each other but also made jokes. Seems like a good work environment. Cons- thin walls and you can hear someone from the next door cough. Pillows are way too soft and uncomfortable. Breakfast is lame as there are no vegan/vegetarian options. I stayed at a hotel in Virginia in summer of 2020 that had almond milk, toast, and some fruit. Hyatt House needs to do better in 2022! Overall I would consider staying here. read more

Stayed here for many months because of work putting me up. Came home one day to my room having been tossed about, screws laying around, chipped paint all over my stuff, and even a broken razor blade on the ground. Maintenance never respects your stuff if they come in while you're away. Depending on the day and who is on staff, it can be pretty poor service. Multiple times I have booked the shuttle ahead of time only for it to not be there causing me to miss the train or I'm left in the cold waiting to be picked up. Walls are thin and have had neighbors partying into the night, watching tv late, playing the guitar, etc. Internet speed is a slow 5 mbps. Water for sinks and shower take minutes to warm up. Because it's an extended stay hotel with kitchens, occasionally there will be someone burning food and setting off the fire alarm off. read more

I was a bridesmaid for my best friend this past Friday and this hotel was not accommodating in any capacity for the couple or their guests. Check in was at 4pm and my friend's wedding was at 5:15. Your room isn't guaranteed to be ready at 4 but luckily ours was done well before that. I had already been at the hotel with the rest of the bridal party from the day before. However, my fiancé and I live a little over an hour away without traffic and my fiancé had to use their card instead of mine that I put down for our resy. The ID that you put down has to match the card that you use. Our room was done on time but this hotel's time lines clearly cut things pretty close for wedding parties. Everyone checking in all at once made the shuttle bus late to the wedding venue so the wedding had to be stalled until the shuttle got there. If there was any other delay at check in or more traffic (which easily could've happened on a Friday but my fiancé left our place early), a huge amount of people would've missed my friend's I Do's. After the wedding there was an after party at the Hyatt. Agreements (in writing) were arranged with management for the bar and patio to be open late for the wedding party specifically. The bride confirmed all the details with management about a week or so prior as well. When we got back to the hotel from the wedding, everything was closed. My friend tried explaining to the front desk how she had already spoken to management several times about the after party and had a written agreement but they didn't believe her even after she showed them the agreement. The front desk employees insisted that they couldn't do anything without their managers verbal instructions. They also refused to call their own manager because it was 12am so my friend decided to call the manager instead (As she should it's her wedding night). The woman lied on the phone saying she never said anything to my friend. After my friend read the emails between them to the manager she says "Well I never guaranteed it so it doesn't matter". Eventually, the manager instructed her employees to let us go on the patio to drink our own alcohol quietly (we had about 50 people....). Eventually we got kicked out of the patio then we went out to the parking lot so that we wouldn't disturb the guests inside the hotel. I had gone up to my room to grab a jacket while everyone was in the parking lot but when I came back down, apparently the front desk had already called the police on us. The police said we could all hang out inside the hotel instead of the parking lot because we did in fact have a written agreement with the hotel. We partied then went to sleep in our mediocre beds and chunky pillows. To the staff at the Hyatt : You all clearly forgot about the wedding after party. This could've easily been remedied if your management even wanted to do so. Instead you harassed us, treated us terribly then called the cops on us all because we showed up to a party that you in fact agreed to host. Even the police agreed with us. Fundamentally, You were down right cruel to a newly married couple on their wedding night. Be better and do better. read more

I enjoyed my stay, comfy bed, quiet ac that kept the level comfortable. The food was ok and the staff friendly. Parking was good and the Internet worked fine. Some things I did notice, the panel on the elevator was absolutely filthy and somebody was cooking something it their room that was a bit overpowering. Not that the hotel could have done anything about that ..... Finally the cost per night was a bit pricy at $250 a night. read more

Nice enough hotel, but the rooms smell awful. All the rooms our party was given had couches, and either the couches or rugs had been cleaned with something that smelled disgusting. Or perhaps, it was just the room. I don't know, but when we tried to change rooms, all of them were the same. It wasn't the acerbic smell of cleaning fluid either. It was as though the room had been sprayed by a skunk, but in basso profundo. On top of that, when we called to make the reservation I mentioned that my wife was horribly allergic to feathers and was assured that the hotel was "feather and allergen free." Every single room had feather pillows. Not a foam pillow in sight. Thank goodness, the blankets weren't down. As it was, we carry our own, but still. The front desk should be aware. read more

We evacuated here from blizzard,avoiding for coming electricity down. So the hotel reception was very busy with handling check-ins.they didn't give us enough information about hotels at that time. So we didn't know their buffet / breakfast system until a kind guest lady told me about that. Overall we are satisfied with the stay. read more

I stayed with Hyatt Summerfield suites for only 5 days, it's a really nice hotel both exterior and interior and the rooms are arranged as one or two bedroom apartments, my room was a one bedroom apartment with separate living and sleeping area, bathroom and kitchen, really cosy, clean and comfortable. Downstairs in the lobby is really nice, lots of American oak and a really homely atmosphere, the staff are really lovely, very attentive and always there to help you. I paid a really good rate around $129 with breakfast per day and in the evening they is a free meal known as a social hour in the restaurant. However what I didn't like was its location, it was out in the middle of nowhere next to a high way, maybe great if you have a car but for us unlucky ones not so great. They are two methods of transport one is the free shuttle bus which the hotel provides, it runs on the hour and very hour and you can call them to pick you up when your finished shopping however they don't run after 1800 hours or on Sundays or bank holidays, the other method of transport is taxi, not really expensive but out in white plains you have to share with complete strangers so hang on to your breeches or anything worth of value, the worst times I experienced was late in the evening when a 20 minute journey became a 2 hour journey as he picked up everyone on the streets and took them home first. I finally had to check out due to the location and move closer to where there was some life. The hotel I really cannot fault, it's a really nice hotel really warm, cosy and inviting it's just the location which is miserable, there is just nothing to see out there unless you want a view of either the highway or the head office of master card that is. read more
