I do want to give two shout outs for Dr. Megan Smith and Nurse Lauren. I fully believe that Nurse Lauren saved my baby's life by sending me to the birthing center when my NST was coming out weird, and Dr. Smith had me prepped for a c section within an hour. They cared for me during both of my pregnancies and I didn't have any problems, it was fine care - not great but I never left there crying. Today I did. The steady decrease in quality of care from when I was pregnant to postpartum to perimenopausal was shocking. They failed to diagnose me with PPD after my first child was born. They did diagnose me with it and prescribed meds after my second child was born. My routine exams after pregnancy were fine until I turned 40. Then all of a sudden I want to talk about HRT and perimenopause because it's excrutiating to deal with and the first NP said I just needed to deal with my symptoms. Basically "suck it up". I asked for another provider who after some convincing, agreed to give me HRT. She was very rude and cold to me. The second time I saw her she literally barely looked at me, never smiled, gave me one word answers and seemed so disinterested. I asked her if there were any foods or exercises I could do to help alleviate my symptoms and she straight up said "No," I called and complained about her, receptionist was just as rude. Then finally I got a third NP she was the worst of them all. Barely greeted me, stone cold face and demeaner, one word answers and dirty looks!! IS THIS THE TWILIGHT ZONE?!!! I'm still a human being who deserves care even though I'm not making babies anymore. What ever happened to compassion and care? The disinterest all of these healthcare "professionals" show is quite alarming. I could and do get more helpful information from Google and Midi Health. After being a patient at ECWG for almost a decade, today was the last time I step foot in that office. Run as fast as you can away from this place. If you are not going to birth a child, you do not matter.

Dr. Howell was the OB on call and she patiently waited for me to naturally dilate and push my baby out the old fashioned way :) I was so relieved that even after 3 hours of pushing, she never mentioned a Csection and was incredibly encouraging to me as a first time mom. He is my prescriber as I am a breast cancer survivor and have secondary conditions related to that. Lucky to be alive, trying to live my best life. That said, my doc went on vacation and without any warning, and upon refilling a particularly expensive medication that was not hastily prescribed, a substitute physician has denied it. My doc won't be back for a month. He's from Bend, young, very smart and has a family. My family and I have been very happy with his care. So disappointed to see High Lakes put a person whose in charge who would flat out deny a needful, long time medication. Btw NOT an opiate. My gastroenterologist who originally prescribed this medication has also left his practice and is set to join St Charles ... later in August. My referral was given a month ago, to smooth this transition because my stomach doc is the best in Bend. SCMC receptionist tried to find it, but said they are BURIED w a huge backlog of patients. Former and new patients. Not surprised, as he is an expert and he actually cares whether a patient can leave home w a condition like mine. So grateful he is staying in town. There seems to be an exodus of docs leaving the area. This is not continuity of care. It shouldn't take a behavioral health appointment to get my medicine or try and understand this idiocy.
