I'm reading a lot of negative reviews about Dr Riffer and I can say he's been my primary care Dr since 2008. He's the best Dr I've ever had. With Optum taking over there's going to be hiccups but everyone has been professional. At the same time if you're writing some big, negative diatribe about how they made you 'feel' grow up. read more

I am not a patient but I would certainly never be one. I have been attempting to get in touch with this office for billing matters for over a week. Calls to the billing office will be dropped after waiting on hold for 40+ minutes (which is mind-numbingly frustrating and has happened over three times), and repeated attempts to reach the front desk are futile as they are never present and do not respond to voicemails left. read more

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! They can be a little tricky to find, but don't hesitate to call to ask for directions!

I have had a great experience with my PCP, Dr. Riffer, for over 6 years. Now, they have been bought by OPTUM Primary care and have become a Horrible office to deal it: from scheduling an appointment, to simply speaking to the front desk, to reach the doctor, to refill a prescription, to get a referral, billing.... everything is extremely difficult and frustrating to deal it. They sent me a bill six months after my doctor's visit, and even billed me for my annual preventive visit which is 100% covered by my insurance company. It's taking them weeks to fix it. The people who sometimes pick up the phone are rude and unfriendly. Sadly, I am leaving Dr. Riffer's care. I simply can't deal with this new office and his staff! read more

I haven't been to Dr. Riffer in a long time! He does not take this insurance. I used to see him at his old office. I have to say that Dr. Riffer has helped me as well as a co-worker of mine who would have surely died if Dr. Riffer had not intervened years ago! He is very intelligent, I can tell you this much! I can tell you of many times when he helped me out, and he did not have to! I walked in one time from work, and he gave me a sample of my medication until the next appointment time! I really needed that particular medication because I do tend to have seizure like activity sometimes. It doesn't take him long to figure out where you have gone wrong in your healthcare, and to fix the issue. Now, I have not been in this new office but one time and I was in pretty bad shape and paid cash. They seemed nice. I don't know about recent activity, but I will always vouch for Dr. Riffer. Dr. Riffer and his staff are awful. I've held off writing this for over a year but my last interaction was terrible. I'm a gay man, early last year I asked him for an STD check which generally includes blood, urine, anal and oral swab. He literally laughed at me when I asked for the swabs and said he could just look at those orifices to "tell" if I had anything. After being denied the swabs I asked for and had gotten at other offices for years I decided I would no longer go. Just today I started having shortness of breath, which is a symptom of Coronavirus. I had yet to get another PCP. I called his office and told them my concern and that it was unlikely but needed advice. I was immediately asked for number and I'd be called back. I was called from the same number 20-30 minutes later. The lady told me, "we don't eat here, you can go to a hospital or county if you feel like you were exposed." No review of symptoms, no questions, not only that, the First Lady couldn't say that? This is the only office I've ever felt so put off, I advise anyone from going here if they have any abnormality from going here. The other yelp reviews go into details about other things to, that I agree with, these are two of my experiences out of three, which is two too many. read more

Dr. Riffer is the worst, downright negligent! Once during a visit asked about drug interactions & safety, & he Google searches from his laptop! I love Google, but I need a physician who is more aware, he also has a history of giving a patient over the recommended dosage for a controlled substance, no regard to patient safety. He should of passed this patient on to a specialist, not continue to prescribed 120mg of adderall a day! I have no feedback on any providers in the practice. read more

I will never return to this office. The office staff was condescending, and it got worse when I stated quite politely that I didn't like their tone. Absolutely people are more inclined to complain than praise online, but that doesn't mean they're wrong. Read the other negative reviews. Given what I experienced I'm guessing they're spot on. PS-the condescending statement about emotional support animals on the front door should have been my first clue about how they view patients. (And, no, I don't have a service animal or emotional support animal, but WOW was that an obnoxious sign!) read more

8:30 pm - just received a call from Dr. Riffer following up for my husband on an issue needing medical advocacy with insurance. Amazing! As for me..I see Dr. Lipschitz - past 10 years. Efficient and friendly. Office is efficient and quick and staff is friendly and helpful. read more

The way people speak to you at this clinic is with a derisive tone. When I first walked in, the young male front desk person asked if I could fill out all the forms that I have already filled out on Zocdoc--both of which have the same info--just organized differently. The medical assistant and Nurse Practitioner spoke to me in a tone that I don't think that a medical/health professional should use with patients. So naturally, if someone is snarky to me, I'm snarky right back. Furthermore, I used Zocdoc to make an appointment with Dr. Riffer, but never saw him. The Nurse Practitioner said that this is a normal occurrence. If you make an appointment with a Doctor, it should be with the Doctor. I just moved here from Chicago and I have never experienced something like this before--and I saw Doctors regularly in Chicago. Also, there is anti-marijuana articles posted everywhere in the examination rooms. When I asked, the healthcare professional spoke down to me as if I were an addict. The only reason I booked this appointment was because I thought I was going to see Dr. Riffer at a time of my choosing. Everything had gone wrong. And lastly, when I gave my info to the NP/PCT, I expected my prescriptions sent to my insurance mail order pharmacy--this should be a normal occurrence for a Physician's office, right? Yeah, not so much. Going back and forth with an individual in the office has got to be the worst experience I have ever had with any Doctor's office. The insurance would point the finger at them and then the healthcare professional would point it back at them while being completely rude and shrill towards me. What did I do wrong? Am I not the patient? Should you be talking to me in the way? So I do what I normally do and tell them (insurance and dr office) "what can I do or need to do to fix this problem?" Then the healthcare professional acted as though she was being my savior after using a very impolite tone. I had an appointment this morning as I was told I was selected for a study. I could not for he life of me find the office even though there was a sign out front. Turns out you have to trek through what seems like an abandoned, run down office complex. I tried to get someone on the phone buts fully automated so even if you request to talk with someone you just get a recording. Finally found it and walked in and I was told nope, go to another office where the studies are done. This office was filthy, unkept with a worker or doctor playing with her child and no one there seemed busy. How bout this, answer a phone! They showed me to a messy waiting room down a dingy hallway and couldn't answer ANY basic questions: how long would this be, what is my compensation, etc. seems the corporate Accurian test trials told me stuff that this office said was not full. Sloppy, no answers, unprofessional. Avoid regardless of reason. read more

I chose this clinic out of necessity and there for didn't look at the reviews before visiting. Had I read the reviews, I probably wouldn't have made an appointment, but I'm glad I went here. I chose this office out of convenience as I was experiencing pain and they are located in the same building I work in, I needed a new doc as my PCO retired this month, and they take my insurance. I walked in to make an appointment and was given forms to fill out and provided the employee with a copy of my health insurance card so he could do a verification. The next day was my appointment and I came in early and was taken right away. Dr. Riffer was very friendly, addressed my concerns, wrote up lab orders (performed there in the office) for blood and wrote a prescription for me. I'm giving 5 stars to my PCP Dr. Ernie Riffer. This was my 2nd visit with him ,and I absolutely love this man. He is an older gentleman with a sense of humor that puts you at ease . He has the exact same personality as my children's pediatrician Dr. Richard Leonard (also my boss) . There are 2 other physicians in the office (both female) , if I end up booking an appointment with either of the one of them , I will be sure to update the review based on our interactions. The Office procedures are the same as any other , office staff and setting are again on par for any standard adult pcp office . read more

Dr. Barbara Berry and Dorothy Trimmer, NP, have been my providers since last year. I have a very complicated medical condition that most doctors have never even heard of, and I was shocked to find that before my first visit, Dorothy had read up on the condition so she knew what to expect and how to treat me best...I don't think that has ever happened before! The wait times are always extremely reasonable, appointments are available quickly when needed, and I always feel that they listen fully and do a comprehensive assessment. I am pretty sure this is the best group of primary providers I have ever had (I have never seen the other two doctors in the practice so can't comment, but love the two I have seen). Awful doctor. Does not wash his hands between patients does not wear gloves! He pushed on biopsy sites that were operated on earlier in the day and laughed when I winced in pain. He ran his bare hands all over my body running the risk of infecting me with whatever filthy germs were on his hands. I had to see this doctor reference an industrial injury 8 I sustained in the public sector and this doctor wanted to talk about my gynecological and obstetric history from 8 years ago in detail!!! He also asked me to undress in front of him and when I insisted upon having a gown and privacy to change he looked angry and when he returned to the room he made me stand up and hoist the gown up so that he could examine my private area without wearing gloves or a mask. This doctor was so close I could feel his breath on my behind. I've never been placed in such an awkward position and this examination had nothing to do with my industrial injury. This guy is a creep and doesn't use the most basic modicum of common decency or hygiene. In the era of COVID and MRSA who wants a doctor that doesn't care about germs or contamination. The last straw was his in-depth inquiry into how my difficult delivery effected my nether regions. NOT RELATED TO THE Industrial injury arranged by the State of Arizona that's for sure! Even a gynecologist would wear a mask and gloves this guy has probably infected numerous patients at GOOD SAM and St LUKEs with his medieval lack of hygiene protocols! read more

The office staff was absolutely horrible. I called in to schedule an appointment. The front desk lady read me my lab results and tried to diagnose me, which is ILLEGAL by the way. I went to Urgent Care and was diagnosed differently and actually felt like I was taken care of. At this office, I asked if I was diagnosed with that (wrong diagnosis) why would I still be in so much pain still? She had no bedside manner and was completely rude the whole conversation insisting how wrong I was about everything. She did not apologize or try to empathize with my pain at all. I was told told the doctor is not in today, I asked to schedule an appointment with another doctor and she told me she'd leave a note for my doctor practically refusing to schedule me despite being vocal about my pain. Absolutely horrible office would never recommend this. Don't work in customer service or a doctor's office if you don't like people and can't empathize with patients. read more

Dr. Riffer is a horrible physician. He would rather throw pills at a problem or accuse you of imagining symptoms rather than listening or doing anything productive. Coming here was a total waste of time and money, and I'm still sick. read more

Dr. Riffer was my PCP for 15 years before I moved to Flagstaff. Absolutely excellent. Prompt on appointments, and most importantly, of course, right on diagnosing and treating my various issues. If you are looking, tell. Him I recommended you. He's an excellent doctor who will treat you in the most effective way, not the short term profitable way. read more

My husband went to Dr. Riffer as I am a long time patient of another doctor in that office and am happy with the service I've received over the years. Wow, was my husband's experience different. He went in with extreme upper back pain and was told he had a pinched nerve. Dr. Riffer prescribed very low dose pain pills, which did nothing. My husband had to go back in and request xrays be done and a new script with real pain medicine in it. Dr. Riffer told him to go to a pain specialist without really knowing what was wrong with my husband. We went to see an orthopedic surgeon who performed an MRI. Turns out he has a torn rotator cuff not a pinched nerve!! Very serious misdiagnosis on Dr. Riffer's part and he refuses to renew my husband's pain meds, says he has to make an appt. with a pain specialist. What good is a GP if they won't prescribe pain medication these days? A pain specialist in another deductible and they are 2 weeks out. Is he supposed to be in pain for 2 weeks?? read more
