Never pay for shipping via Central Transport. I am being refunded a total of $5.00 from a claim where they are at fault for significant freight damaged and I was originally charged $150.00 for shipping. Central Transport is a scam.. On March 20, 2020 I filed a claim the day after receiving a damaged package. It was a fender ordered from a salvage lot in Florida for my Subaru that was in "insurance quality, undamaged" condition. I paid $225 ($75 for part + $150 shipping). The part arrived wrapped in plastic so I signed the driver's little hand held device and unwrapped the package when I brought my package inside. Before I even had the part unwrapped, chipped paint was falling on my floor. The package/part was so damaged with scratches and dents I would never have known it was undamaged (let alone functional). It essentially gave me the impression that the driver and whoever else involved with the transport neglected the pallet the item shipped on without a care in the world. It appeared to have had multiple items dropped on it and possibly ran over during other stops along on the way. The claim was filed with both the transporter, Central Transport, using the form from their website and a 3rd Party called Unishippers via email. I attached evidence of paid freight charges, verification of cost, photos of the damage, and proof of loss with the claim document required by Central Transport and cc'd Unishippers to process as quickly as possible. On April 13 I receive a letter from Central Transport that their maximum carrier liability for the particular shipment is $5.00 (50 pounds x $0.10 per pound). According to a governing Rules Tariff they created, my package falls under their "Restricted Commodities" where they completely disregard declared value or what you actually paid for shipping for the item because it is what they determined a "used commodity." Luckily the shipper, Stepps Auto and Truck Salvage, refunded the value of the part, $75, to honor their customer service values when I told them about the letter (regardless of the fact they aren't at fault for the damages). Apparently, they've had multiple, similar complaints from customers with Central Transport and are going to avoid doing future business with them. When I called Central Transport, their claims department conveniently doesn't have a phone number and can only be reached by email. I wanted to argue that technically a fender is not a commodity but rather a tangible good manufactured from commodities. I can't believe Central Transport has been able to get away with this and survive as a business or not be fined as a result. From charging so much for their services and consistently treating their cargo and customers without care or respect with an insulting amount of liability for damages. I will never use Central Transport again and will caution everyone to never use them either. read more

I had to give this a star only to be able to write something. This company is a complete JOKE! I ordered a door from Home Depot and this is the freight company they use - well first off it cost me $99for delivery which Home Depot pockets most bc this company is so cheap they don't even have lifts at the dock! Isn't that kind of mandatory if you are a shipping company? YES!! So they received the door on a Wednesday said they would deliver Friday - I took the day off and NO DOOR - why? Bc no lift gate at dock- they will deliver Tuesday- Tuesday came and went - no lift gate to load door - are you freaking kidding me! Save yourself the stress!! DO NOT USE CENTRAL TRANSPORT!! Recently we received a pallet that was missing 5 cases that was shipping with Central Transport. The pallet contained 80 cases and we received 75 cases. The pallet was well wrapped by the shipper and was NOT received in the same condition the shipper sent it out with. Clearly the pallet was tampered with and was put back together by Central Transport. The driver even told us that they have a note on the shipment that the pallet was damaged. Some internal notes that they only know about as employees. We put a note on the BOL with the driver that it's missing 5 cases worth $550.00 We filed a claim per their customer service instructions with all the supporting documents and they denied it. We had overwhelming proof including the invoice for the merchandise and pictures as well. That's not the first incident with Central Transport but this will be our last since we are not planning to ship any more with that company. They might have cheap quotes but it's not worth the risk missing merchandise that's worth lot of money. That company does not protect its customers from theft or damages to the pallets that they are responsible for. We schedule hundreds of shipments every year and we used to give Central Transport a good portion of that. Well not any more. If they don't care about us so why would we? We advise everyone to avoid using this company as their claims department will deny any claim. They don't have your back and they will deliver your pallets missing merchandise or damaged or both. read more

Do not use this company! We had an incident this morning during an attempted delivery. The driver could not back down our delivery driveway so he decided to drive through our main parking lot and almost took down 2 of our trees. When we told him to stop he said No that he had a delivery and we told him that he could not drive in our parking lot, a heated exchange started where he threated to 'kick our asses'. We told him to leave and he said No, so we called the police. They did come and escorted him off the property and gave him a trespassing citation that he is no longer ever able to come to our office. read more

A more fitting name would be Central Disaster, not transportation. Poor to non-existent customer service. On hold for 20 plus minutes each time I called. Also poor service if you call the corporate office. One positive thing they are consistent, consistently rude. Do not believe them when they say it's on it's way. The rating should be -0. read more

Worst company on the planet. I really wish I could give 0 stars. We were supposed to recieve a delivery from these dipshits 3 weeks ago. Every day, I call to check when it's being delivered and I sit on hold for 40 mimutes just to hear another lie about when it will be here. Every single day, they tell me it will be here the next day. If I could give them a zero I would. They recklessly handled a shipment by stacking a pallet on top of my pallet that had fragile computer equipment on it and was marked "Fragile." Not that it needed to be marked "fragile", one look at it and anyone could see that stacking would destroy the shipment. So it was really deliberate in my mind. Then I filed a claim and they immediately denied it because they said it had to be filed through the broker that I scheduled it with - even though their website said to file it directly and that was what my broker told me to do. So I refiled through the broker and they immediately denied it again saying I had not filed it within 5 days. Now that is an unreasonably short period anyway, but more to the point, the first claim that they rejected was filed in two days from the shipment and the second one was in four days. So I had actually filed the claim TWICE within their time frame. When I provided proof of timely filing, they then said it was signed for and no damage was noted. I got the documents, and it was simply signed "received" by a person in the warehouse and we provided photos of the damage within 48 hours. This company is not just bad, it is a FRAUDULENT operation! They give you estimated delivery date and a whole week later they're changing delivery date everyday and customer service / call center reps very not helpful at all and very rude. I was on hold for 42 minutes before speaking with really rude woman and still no help whatsoever. So disappointing. read more

Worst transport company I've ever dealt with. Scheduled for a delivery last Thursday and they never showed... no call, no nothing. Called me the next Monday to schedule delivery. Offered no reason for the previously missed delivery date. Rescheduled for today. They said the driver would give a half hour notice before arriving and would have a forklift on the truck... nope, called when they were on-site and were only equipped with a broken pallet jack. Drive to the site and when I arrived the driver was just sitting in the truck. Asked where I wanted the shipment...then told me they could only drop it in one location...not helpful. Ok, fine, drop it. It takes the driver 45 minutes to rearrange the truck contents in order to get mine to the door. Then the driver asks if I can help him unload! Are you freakin kidding me?! From the time I arrived onsite, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to unload a single 1 ton pallet. So with all that time one would think it's in the perfect spot, level and ready to go, right? No. It's unlevel to the point that I think half of it will fall off the pallet when I cut the shrink wrap. I've been in the construction industry a decade, and have seen a lot things unloaded, some good, some bad. This was by-far the absolute worst. read more
