    Photo from their cleaning team

After moving out, I discovered Centro Apartments used photos of the WRONG UNIT to justify carpet cleaning charges against me. The evidence is clear - their cleaning service photos show a bedroom without the navy blue accent wall that was in my apartment. Michael and Kaiya has avoided addressing the issue for over two months. For current/future residents: Take dated photos of EVERY room when moving out and Know your rights! Despite multiple attempts to resolve this professionally, management continues to avoid addressing the issues. Be very cautious when moving out and protect yourself with thorough documentation.

The first time management addresses the surveillance with us and of course we were painted as the aggressors already.

We were given a more than fair rate when we renewed our lease. Probably the best renewal rate I have seen while renting. I am still very upset about our experience with our neighbor and the way Amanda dealt with it; however, I can admit to feeling a certain type of way in the moment. Things have improved here. The trash is still mostly a mess but dog waste has dramatically improved although recently we found dog shit on the sidewalk near our house. The apartments are close to a lot of businesses which I can say are an amenity including a mall my wife likes to frequent. Our backyard is still frequented by homeless but we have never been broken into or had a package stolen and our dog loves the "backyard." We have felt very taken care of here recently regardless of past experiences which we just wish did not happen because we are very happy here besides that.

Nice view of trash skipped for pickup. The best part? This was the last pickup of the week so it will be out for at least 3 days!

This place is a dump.. literally! My partner and I lived at Centro (formerly Rock Creek Landing) for over 5 years. We started off in a one bedroom and were very happy. We moved to a two bedroom in 2014 and though the building we moved to wasn't as nice as the first, we were still happy for the most part. The benefits of the community are that it is close to major Hillsboro employers (Nike, Intel, etc.), there were decent amenities (gym, pool, resident activities) and the grounds were pretty well kept. WERE well kept. Sometime in early 2017, the old management company decided to remove most of the trash and recycling centers located around the community in favor of using strictly Valet Trash services (door to door pickup of trash). This was extremely frustrating because residents were still required pay for both valet trash and dumpster trash, the valet trash service became extremely unreliable and there there was no place for us to manually take items missed or left behind by the valet trash service (they often didn't take everything set out, if they took anything at all). This resulted in piles of trash being left in the building breezeways for days on end, as can be seen in the attached photos. Our building was regularly missed for pickup and our neighbors would continue to stack 4-5 days worth of trash directly in front of the stairs leading down. In the summer (100+ degree days), the trash would marinate in the heat and the smell became overwhelming. Forget about having guests over EVER, unless you want to trek them through literal piles of garbage. We had hoped when new management took over in August that this would be fixed but they made it even worse by removing ALL of the dumpsters from the complex and then RAISING the cost of the dumpster trash fee. So basically they are now charging double for a service you can't even use. We ended up breaking our lease early because as someone who works primarily from home, I could not continue to bring clients and colleagues over with the trash heaps and smell outside. What is unfortunate is that there is an easy fix to this situation by simply replacing the dumpsters but management refuses to listen to the resident outcry regarding this issue. The community web portal forum has been pretty active regarding this topic but residents still continue to be fed lies regarding the decision to remove the dumpsters and the reasoning behind the raised dumpster fees. I gave two stars because we did enjoy 3+ years of happy living in this complex. It has gone downhill from those times and I would not recommend it in it's current state to anyone who values cleanliness and/or fresh air. Edit: After reading Chris' comment below re: new trash compactor not being compatible with the old dumpsters, there was STILL an easy fix. If you chose not to buy a compatible compactor, replace all the dumpsters with ones that are compatible with the new compactor. This isn't rocket science, folks. Unfortunately it appears that the property management company is too cheap to consider this. I would have much preferred they spend money on basic necessities like this than hot dog parties and wrapping paper stations. I don't live there anymore, though so hopefully the current residents have found some relief from the trash situation.

A gift wrap station in the clubhouse!

First issue now, my initial review was removed without notification and reason, based off what I will reiterate again, which they want to hide. Your complaints won't come from your side neighbors, it will come from your above neighbor. Upstairs neighbors engaged in intentional stomping and harassment, which management dismissed as normal activity. If you're exceptionally unlucky like me, they will stomp very loudly, VERY intentionally, but when you complain, they get a "reminder" to be quiet. "We walk heavy", "We have a large dog" of which I guarantee, dogs don't stomp on the ground, they literally can't since they don't even weigh enough to cause the sound my wonderful upstairs neighbor did. They will prey on you. They'll vacuum, and run their dishwasher, washer and dryer, all well before and after morning and evening allotted times. When they know who is complaining, the tenant retaliated by stalking me to my vehicle and vandalizing it. If you feel like you can't complain due to retaliation, then management won't do anything once you break your lease and move. Breaking your lease is a boon to management. They will not ask questions, they will not try and mitigate, they will not help you. They will say, thanks, here's your bill! I heavily suggest you demand a lease addendum to protect you from the type of tenant that I had, as well as from building management that provided no assistance. If they can't, which they won't, there are far better places than any of the boxes they lease. This area looks nice, but it has the opposite quality of people, and actions of management. I have a broken car window because of someone living in Vector. The tenant that broke my window never got any punishment, just "reminders". They will not mitigate your costs due to their incompetence. Consider this property carefully, learn from my costly mistake. Apartments.com and Holland Residential, do not my review again as this is a very fair review from my personal experience. This is something everyone should know that is considering this place to call "home".

This is by far the best apartment we lived in during our time in Hillsboro! Creekside did a wonderful job of making us feel like we were tucked away out of the city, even though Cornell road was right next to us. The Rock Creek Nature Trail running behind us was a huge plus. We loved walking it and watching the changing scenery as the seasons progressed. Jennifer and Grace, in the office, are incredible! We were so blown away the first time they called us by name. Nobody else at previous residences had ever made the effort to do that before! These ladies really care, and we were sad to say goodbye to them! Adam and his crew were always excellent at taking care of any maintenance requests we had ASAP. It was so nice to know we wouldn't ever have to wait weeks to get things resolved! And now for the apartment itself. We really loved the layout of this home. We lived in a 2 bed 2 bath. By far one of my favorite parts was the balcony overlooking the green space. Gorgeous and so peaceful! Second to that was my kitchen. I spend a lot of my time in the kitchen, so it's important to have a well-planned space. ;) I loved the large amount of counter space, lots of cabinets and drawers, and overall open feel that it offered. The bedrooms were laid out nicely, as well. The master was just off the living room, (but you could close the door if you didn't want people looking in!) and the guest room was at the other end of the apartment by the guest bathroom. Works out very well for having people come and stay over. Everybody gets their privacy! :) We were lucky enough to have the top floor, so we also got a vaulted ceiling in our living room. Being a couple of tall folks, we really loved how un-claustrophobic it felt! ;) We were told when we moved in that most people stay at Creekside for years, and really only leave if they are moving into a house. While our situation was slightly different, I definitely believe we would have stayed there for years otherwise! What a wonderful place to call home

Water is shut off frequently and sometimes without much notice. Management takes a "sorry but blame _______" approach for issues. (The city, company, vendors, etc.) I want to start by saying this was a hard review to write because I really enjoy my apartment and it's location. The negative aspect of the review is mostly due to the Sequoia company overall (as the property manager seemed to indicate a lot of the issues are due to the company and not him). First a little back story: we've lived here about three years (April 2020) and really enjoyed our place. The first summer they begun a construction project of replacing all of the siding on all of buildings. They took up a fairly large area outside of our building and used it as a staging area. Extremely inconvenient (noise, trash, etc) but we were understanding and were told at the time it was temporary. Fast forward and we now are in the third summer of this project. From May-September we expect to be woken up at 7:30am and to have their staging area yet again outside of our apartment. Last year we got a nail stuck in our tire and had to get it replaced. Not to mention all the construction dust. Additionally, last year we had a huge issue with trash due to the construction. This year we were notified to lock our door and take extra precautions as the crime has gone up and people in our community have been impacted. One has to wonder if the construction invites more crime? Every time we bring an issue to management (which we have to do in person because they don't respond to emails unless you use the resident portal) it seems their reaction is to give an apology but blame another entity and share there's nothing they can do. We've resigned every year without any fuss over the rent increase. This year due to everything happening between our apartment being the unlucky 3 summer staging area and the frequent water outages we decided to try to ask to keep our rate the same for another 12 months. They offered us an $80 monthly increase if we signed for 12 (higher rates for less time) but agreed to drop down to $50 monthly increase. To which we were told by the property manager that $50 is the minimum they have to raise the rates by, company policy. Additionally he shared that there are people living in two bedroom apartments that moved in last summer so they pay $2,200 when the same apartments now go for $1,800 and they would still be charged at least a $50 rate increase. Check your rates neighbors! It boggles my mind that a company would rather hardline a $50 minimum rather than keep a paying resident. Unfortunately we are having some financial hardship and will likely resign for one more year as the cost of moving is a lot of up front cost but plan to depart next year unless a new company buys the apartment. Greedy corporate companies can charge whatever they want and offer less benefit for it due to the supply and demand problem but someday that will shift and these companies are going to feel the pain of poor customer retention policies. As it is now our rate is competitive but not under market value so moving is not outside the options even in this market.
