We needed three toilets removed, a water heater drained and moved to the garage, and three sinks disconnected (unscrew the water source, and disconnect the drain). A week later, these would all need to be reinstalled. I called All About Home Repair and they said that they couldn't give me an estimate over the phone, but they could send someone out the next day to give me a quote. If we didn't end up using them, we would pay a $39 callout fee. If we did use them, it would get credited towards the overall project cost, which seemed reasonable to me. Keaton came out and gave me a quote stating, "It will be over $2,000." I balked at the cost and said that it seemed EXTREMELY high as I have pulled a toilet before and it takes less than a half hour (and that included the time watching the YouTube video of how to do it). He asked me how much I was expecting and I told him I didn't think all of that would be over $800 on the high side. He said they couldn't do that and I said I couldn't do their price. He charged me the $39 callout fee and went on his way. I called the office Manager, Stephanie, and she was very nice to work with and talk to. With that said, I explained the situation and she said she would like to talk to Keaton and then get back with me, which she did just 15 minutes later. She told me that he had not offered me some of the packages that he could have offered (since all three toilets were at the same location), but that he never felt like he had the chance to do so. She went through the pricing with me and it still came out to about $1,200. In the mean time, I was able to secure another plumber to do the work for $600. So while I appreciated the work to get the bid down, it was still significantly higher than what the market is dictating. Stephanie was also kind enough to cancel the callout fee of $39 without me asking (which is why I bumped the rating from a 1 star to a 3 star). In conclusion, Stephanie and Keaton were both nice, but the pricing of the company is the highest I have encountered.

The person I initially called said the plumbing is likely beyond their expertise but call Joseph Sale at this company. so I did. Initially he seemed eager and came over right away. But I asked him also about an egress window. There are a few key things this house needs asap or sooner than later. So when he initially came over right away and went in the basement to see the bedroom for a proposed egress window, he saw other things that are genuinely needed sooner than later and gave an overall quote for thousands of dollars worth of supplies and work and was ready to start right away. but it was around Thanksgiving or right after and it's not my house and the holidays aren't when you want major repairs or renovations to occur. And we really need to space things out for multiple reasons. I finally texted him back recently (we'd texted back and forth when he first came over and he was responsive back then) and asked for a written breakdown proposal/ estimate of individual jobs: like one job is the tub faucet and tub replace (a major undertaking to even consider in winter, especially with one bathroom), and the leaky sink faucet and install quick shut offs, and one is the cost to replace the water heater, maybe/ probably adding the time/ cost to extend the gas line to allow a gas water heater to go with the gas furnace instead of the current electric one, one is the cost to possibly replace the old galvanized pipe and the water heater at the same time and give a written proposal for copper pipe versus plastic (the world is drowning in plastic - literally- and micro plastics are being found in breast milk but I'm supposed to assume the newer more flexible plastic pipe is fine just, mostly because it's so much cheaper), how much would the egress window be by itself... in writing please. and please tell me what would we need to do to prepare for any or all of the above because that's another thing with dealing with all the stuff near and around the proposed jobs... and it's not my house ... so I need details to be able to speak to the owner and know what I'm getting myself into because I'd need to help or it won't (and couldn't) physically happen. Any of it. I texted on a Saturday I think, but said PLEASE don't answer now; it's the weekend. and it doesn't have to be immediately. but would you please mail a written breakdown of proposed jobs and costs within the week. Didn't happen. It's been almost 2 weeks now since I sent that text. I just hope he and his family are all okay! and that there's nothing wrong that's kept him from even answering and saying I don't have time so you'll have to find someone else. He told me how busy he tends to be these days and I haven't been able to find any contractors or even a handyman/ handyperson willing to give you the time of day unless you're going to spend a minimum of $300-500 for 1 1/2 to 2 hours worth of work and $50 in supplies and maybe a half hour travel time total (recent true story!), and even then they OFTEN don't seem to think even JUST A RESPONSE is in order. I'm pretty sure just a water heater and gas line etc. to make it a gas water heater would be $1500ish for $500 in parts, but that's fine. I'll start looking soon for a certified water heater/ gas person/ contractor, hopefully who will also do the tub faucet and maybe the tub at the same time (for more of course) and/or at least the leaky sink faucet and quick shutoffs, and will give a written quote to begin with, which will be the start of healthy boundaries and guide for us all. I still welcome a written estimate/ proposal because it's still useful info for work that needs done sooner than later, but it takes time and reasonable expectations on both or all sides to make it happen.

Myself, and my 85 year old father pulled the carpet, removed the carpet pad, and moved one piece of furniture. We had two fans ourselves (one being industrial) that we put in the area, and then called Tobin. They came and supplied a dehumidifier and a couple of fans. Tobin stated that it would be around 900 dollars. Which seemed reasonable because we handled most of the hard items. The following week, the dollar amount was paid in full, and the fans were removed. My father then received a phone call stating that what was just part of the amount. They wanted $2200.00 more! They stated they have two separate departments. One that tears down and one that puts it back together. This is not agreed upon verbally. Then claiming there are two separate departments when this was NOT communicated upon arrival at the house. Their invoicing practice is fraudulent and dishonest. I will NEVER use them again for any business. I recommend ANYONE ELSE in Idaho Falls. Don't bother having the owner respond to this review. Update: Tobin's owner visited homeowner and reduced the bill.
