Update: More problems from the initial setup…read more After being gone for a work trip, I came home to a flooded attic where the AC unit sat. Given the fact I still havent heard from the owner Henry of TAR from my previous issue with the main AC board, I called another repair company (Environmental Air Systems). This was the same company that came and out fixed the previous issue where my thermostats were not communicating with the unit. The reason was because the board was fried due to poor installation from TAR. Back to the most recent issue, appears there is a clog in the drain pipe near a bathroom sink. So how did the unit keep running (and flooding) vs shutoff and/or go into the backup drain pan? Well that's because TAR never installed the wiring of the SafeT shut off piece (see pic). It was placed on the pipe but upon a close inspection, I lifted the piece only to find the wires wrapped as if they went into the unit but sadly never were installed. The level of professionalism with their initial service keeps getting worse. And worst, I'm sure I'll never hear from Henry or TAR.

I had been sick for 3 months and was dizzy and could not go into the attic for myself. He promised to send me some from his camera phone even though I handed him mine. When the non English speaking guys came the next day I asked them about smoke smell etc and they nodded no to the questions. When they brought down the unit I ran my hand all around it and no residue, no smoke smell. I went outside to look at the main unit and what had burned was the small, housed condenser ? 6" X couple of inches wide. They had replaced that one a year before FOR $800.00...They did not calibrate the new unit, every time it is turned on, heat or a/c, it stinks up the whole house with a soured smell and I put in messages for a couple of weeks after the installation to the owner and no response. I am a senior, I can not afford this unnecessary unit. They had broken off valves, left the breaker box open outside during Harvey and several other things trying to get me to buy a new unit. I always said no because the old one was better than this one. The guy they send out gets a commission and preys on the elderly. My brother also saw that there was no smoke in the pieces brought from the attic and saw the burned box they had replaced in the outside unit. I would NOT recommend using this company.

General courtesy aside, if they have such disregard for the safety of themselves, we are concerned that they would not take precautions when going into your residence or business. Got 6 different quotes and Action AC came out and installed a new condenser unit outside and new evaporator inside, in 3 hours. Didn't charge until AFTER THE JOB on a handshake AND came in literally $1500 LESS than the other 5 quotes. Lesson: Texas businesses will WORK for your business. Longer review: Galen answered the call and was able to quote me on the phone for a couple of new coils and a 3T outdoor condenser but wanted to make sure so he's going to send someone to come out and get us a free estimate. He was the last one that came out and quoted us and I couldn't believe how low his quote was! Almost $1500 less for the exact same equipment, warranty and time frame as the others. He didn't do the extra stuff that wasn't needed like replacing the vent lines or adding dampeners, etc, but again, it wasn't needed. We needed air at an affordable cost. He came early and went thru and quoted us for a new evaporator and condenser. He's definitely old school so I was a little afraid when he spke about a handshake deal over the phone. He did also give it to us in writing as well when he came out so that made me feel better. I checked their ratings on FB, Yelp, and also their state license, since the other companies couldn't match the price, and all came out stellar. I also contacted some of his Facebook clients and they stood by their awesome reviews. He gave us some tips for self care to maintain and extend the longevity of our new AC.
