However they do take walk-ins. The vibe is old NYC barbershop. It's clean with plenty of seating, great lighting. Each station is personalized by the barber. I highly recommend Alex. When I got here, I was taken right away, which was nice. Moving on with my review, my overall haircut was alright. The beard itself was thinned out nicely and even. The trim on my top, however, felt a little rushed. Then you find yourself in Ryan's chair, which is where it gets even better. I've seen him with other clients while waiting, and he's truly versatile- whether you want to just relax or talk it up, it's a tailor-made experience for you. Ryan's interesting- not just your blah-blah cliché conversation (like most everywhere else). Former New York firefighter, he's got that smooth talking, funny, 'east coast edgy-ness'- a genuine character. We stopped at Panera and some barber decided to come outside and start yelling at us that we couldn't park there if we were going to Renaissance Festival. When I came out, he again accosted me about going to a Renaissance Festival, it scared my niece is so bad I called the cops Then what I presume is the manager decided to lie to the cop and speak to him, as if he was the one who spoke to me initially, when I corrected this with the police officer, he was reprimanded, and the police officer had to go and grabbed the original man. Needless to say, the only two individuals I've ever interacted in this place were condescending, and extremely rude. I don't know anybody that lives in Deerfield, but I will most definitely be telling everybody about this experience.

This was my…read morefirst time going to New Era -- the shop I had been using for the past 3 years suddenly closed so I needed a new shop. I went on-line and searched for shops near me -- saw that New Era was 7 minutes from my house. I made an appointment for a haircut and shave with Chris -- and I would be there in 30 minutes. I was able to pay for the service on-line. Upon arrival at the shop the staff member closest to the door who was with a customer said to me "Welcome to New Era -- who will be providing services for you today?" I told him Chris -- and Chris came over and introduced himself. I showed Chris a picture of the cut I wanted -- he said "no problem." I have to say that he nailed it! Usually when you go to a new barber you walk out wondering what your wife or girlfriend will say. Often times they say "Don't worry, it is only hair, it will grow back."
