Literally, next door to a recreational park with the original library adjacent to it. From time to time, they have events like traditional festivals to the scary fest for kids. Check the website to see the next upcoming events. Parking space is quite big, so therefore, you usually have space to park your vehicle or bike when you visit . This place is unique in their own way, from design and presentation, it's pretty nice. If you're in the area, stop by and say hi. Share your experience. P.s. They do have a beautifully painted and appealing children area but no activities or crafts. I spoke to the manager Sam who seemed to not care or willing to change this. She was unapologetically unfriendly and made us all feel unwelcomed because we were not 13-18 "teens" My teen ( 13) was allowed and me and my 6year old were rejected for the second time. First time was painting. This would have been a nice family time event making blankets together during this cold time. There was other teens in the library who were uninterested in making blankets so not sure to understand why someone interested and willing would be turned away. Felt very cold. We did speak to the children a coordinator who was apologetic and sincere about making more crafts for other ages maybe children and adults so hopeful something will change soon as this is our local library and it made us feel left out

They call me for…read moreany guests that claims to come in the door for me (actual guests or Uber eats) Also, All deliveries go right up to my door (Instacart, Uber eats, bigger packages) which is so nice instead of having to meet the delivries in the lobby. They have lockers for your Amazon deliveries . The staff is super friendly and it feels like a community . The building host events throughout the year it's a sweet and fun way to get to know your neighbors . It's very safe . Probably the safest place I've ever lived . And the car garage is also safe . No one is getting in there . I would say most people in this building are over 50+years . So it's very quiet . I love the location too. Really no complains other than maybe I wish the parking structure was bigger but it was build in the 60s so I get it . And maybe the pool needs to be a little more modernized . Pool feels a run down . Other than that 10/10 and 5 stars on this place .

I am applauded at the people who work behind the coffee bar. They are volunteers and they have to deal with many recovery personalities and that's not an easy tasks but they enjoy being of service. Hope, the manager is always open to people wanting to volunteer but be sure that you really wanting to commit. This is a great recovery place to come to meetings, hope to see you there. What I like about this library: This is a massive, beautiful…read morefacility right in the heart of downtown Long Beach. One of the coolest features is the archive and history room, which houses a lot of fascinating historical books as well as the Medal of Honor awarded to the library's namesake, Billie Jean King! That's definitely something you don't see every day. The interior is well-designed with plenty of space between the books, computers, and study tables, making it easy to browse their extensive collection of media. Additionally, the recent installation of the steel cage barriers outside has resolved the issues with the homeless population loitering right at the entrance, making the exterior look much cleaner and more welcoming. What I don't like about this library: The parking situation is a bit frustrating. The lot directly adjacent to the library only offers 30 MINUTES of FREE PARKING. By the time you walk to and from your car, you really only have about 25 minutes to find your books and check out if you want to avoid paying. Your other option is to park in the lot behind the F&M building, which gives you two hours free, but that requires about a 10-minute walk each way.

Signal Hill Library is one of those "multiple-stop" destinations. Nestled within a community park,…read morethe library is surrounded by amenities that make it easy to spend several hours there. The park includes a children's playground, basketball and tennis courts, outdoor restrooms, picnic tables, and plenty of space for respectful visitors to enjoy. The library itself offers convenient hours and a good variety of seating options. There are tables with built-in electrical outlets, although the outlets occasionally provide low voltage or do not function consistently. In addition to standard chairs, there are several firmer, couch-style lounge chairs located in the back half of the library. The facility also includes study areas, private study rooms, a conference room, a dedicated teen section, a computer area, and a large children's center. My personal favorite feature is the campus-like outdoor patio. It includes a fireplace, comfortable outdoor furniture, and umbrellas, creating an inviting space to work, read, relax, or enjoy a meal. It's the perfect place to take a break and appreciate the day while visiting the library. The areas that could use the most improvement are the inconsistent Wi-Fi connection and the maintenance of the restrooms. At times, the Wi-Fi can be unreliable, and the bathrooms are not always fully stocked with toilet paper and soap. The trash receptacles could also be emptied more frequently to better accommodate the volume of visitors. Overall, the ambiance is neutral in both color palette and aesthetic. While the design is fairly standard and not particularly distinctive, it is comfortable, functional, and well-suited for studying, working remotely, or simply spending a quiet afternoon.
