Do not use CenturyLink Period. We're located in Evanston WY, they claim to have service here. We signed up, waited 3 weeks for them to hook up and then didn't have enough service to even open the internet on our computer. Called multiple times and they claim that we had their highest speed for our area and that was the best they could do. We paid the 1st month upfront and cancelled then they charged me $82 to cancel. Told me to bad. I would give them negative 5 stars if that was an option. read more

If I could give Quantum a zero star, I would. I've lived in my place for a couple years now and it's been aweful service the whole time! Really inconsistent and spotty coverage, that is slow. If you need to get customer service it is the absolute worst crimes service I have ever seen, pretty non-existing. When you call for help there is a bunch of loud talking and laughing in the background you can't even hear. I have spendt countless hours getting the run around d from them. Taken 3 days off work for appointments, and yet they can't get it right! Now it's not just slow and unreliable spotty coverage, there is NO coverage whatsoever after he came to "fix" it today. Quantum Fiber Customer Service is terrible. As a long time employee of the ISP industry...this company is an embarrassment. The individual assisting couldn't help, got frustrated and hung up. Modem doesn't work took 5 days to get someone to come out took 11 days to get modem delivered. Always transferred on phone lines after hours of waiting on hold. Worst ISP in history? I think so. When I canceled they re-used my account number on a new customer, and when that person defaulted they mistakenly came to me for it. After hours and hours and hours of explanation with supervisors they finally said they got it taken care of and it wouldn't be an issue. Paying $30 a month for "up to 30 mbps" and I am lucky if I get 2 mbps. If you don't know much about internet speeds, you can't even stream Netflix without it buffering every couple of minutes even if it is the only thing you're doing on the internet. It took over 2 hours to get through a 1.5 hour movie because it kept buffering every few minutes. You would be better off trying out another provider. read more

Terrible service. Im in the middle of a large city (ogden utah) so I would expect at least somewhat decent internet speed but I was wrong. Internet was super slow (6mps or less) and they still charge you for their 100mps service. I would not recommend anyone using centurylink if you want even moderate internet. read more

Worst customer experience I've ever had. Got the 'price for life' fiber internet option. Initial install was a breeze at the end of March 2020 and the actual internet signal has been decent ('up to 100Mbps' = approx 70 download, 85 upload, 5ms ping, 2ms jitter). However, they laid a 150' temporary fiber cable in my backyard and said a contractor would come bury it at a 'later date'. I found out 3 weeks later that the 'later date' was supposed to be 15 May... surprise - no one showed. After 6 calls over a week period (each time stating I would get a call back from a supervisor 'within 1 business day', yet never did) I finally got to a supervisor on 27 May. She contacted the contractor and set up the new date for 4 Jun. On 28 May, a crew arrived to bury the cable but said the machine they needed had broke (why even show up then? - just call...). They called their supervisor and told me they'd come back next week on 3 Jun. No one showed on 3 or 4 Jun. I called on 5 June, and after not receiving the call back from the supervisor in '5-10 minutes' that I was told, I called again and reached one. I was told the contractor supervisor would call me on Monday 8 June. Every single call is a complete runaround. 3 times I've been given the 'correct number to call', which is the same one I've called every time. Not a single person (customer service rep or supervisor) has called back when I was told they would. Finally resorted to 'No I'll just hold for one' to get anyone on the line. Last CenturyLink supervisor stated 'it's out of our hands once the ticket goes to the contractor'. Maybe it's time for a new contractor or some oversight to ensure they're giving the quality of service you want - or is this the level you're expecting to provide? Cannot emphasize enough to go with a different company if you have the option. Apparently 2.5 months is not enough time to fulfill a very simple procedure. Seriously considering changing services, but at this point, I'm almost curious how much longer they could delay. Also, basic customer service is completely lacking. Call for any reason to experience some pretty poor customer service along with staff that dont have the answers. Called two different times this week trying to re-establish service after being on vacation. First time was put on eternal hold while they pulled up our address. Finally hung up. Second call i was more determined and after an hour finally got wifi set up & an appt for someone to come out to install the equipment I already have. For months we had issues with our internet going up and down. There were times that my download speed was under 10 mbs and I was paying for 40 mbs. I called their tech support line and they ran all of their tests from the home office and I was told that there was something at the box next to the house. They came out, replaced THEIR faulty equipment and I received a bill for $100.00 for their tech support call. I called to dispute the bill as it was their equipment that was bad and they are the ones that sent out the tech they left me on hold for over an hour. What ever happened to good customer service? I have been part of the workforce for 30 years, and most of my jobs have been dealing directly with the public. Treating customers with respect and kindness used to be non-negotiable...it was repeatedly drilled into us, and those who didn't make the mark didn't keep their jobs. So why is it in this day and age that businesses all treat you like they are doing you this huge favor by allowing you to be their customer, and acting so put out any time you have a question or a concern, and GOD FORBID you disagree with anything. How is it that "customer service representatives" are allowed to be snide and sarcastic, condescending and insulting. Don't get me wrong, there are still some nice ones out there, but anymore it seems like the exception, rather than the rule. And I am always so grateful when I call Century Link and actually get a nice person who cares AT ALL about their customers, but I'm telling you, it hardly ever happens anymore. It just baffles me that they are allowed to talk to their customers the way they do. And if you ask to speak to the manager, you just get another person with an even bigger attitude because the person who transferred you has already labeled you as a problem customer. And yet I give these people almost $100 of my hard earned money each month. I am literally the bread and butter for these classless ingrates, and they seem to truly enjoy ridiculing me for asking questions about my bill. Where does this stop? read more

So.. I cancelled service before they were even able to set it up because the customer service was so terrible. They tried to send me a modem anyway! So I refused the modem, called AGAIN to cancel service... never got a bill.. never heard anything so I figured it was cancelled. I go to buy a phone and they tell me I have a ridiculous down payment because my credit is terrible. I have never had bad credit... so I was a little surprised. Looked at my credit report and CenturyLink had sent a bill to collections!! For a service that was never set up, never used! I thought comcast was bad not allowing me to downgrade my service to a package I could afford or cancel my service so i could pay down my bill until i didn't owe anything. I have found century link to be a Company with no Integrity or Concern for their customers. Different representatives tell me different things, and their system hangs up on me all the time. I signed up over the phone, not in this store. The package I was told I signed up for was a 3 year price lock of phone and Internet through Century Link. They also signed me up for a TV service through Direct TV as part of their bundle package. I was told I would be in a two year contract with DirecTV with early termination fees, but I could cancel anytime with Century Link. Imagine my surprise when my first bill showed up with only a one year agreement with a price jump after that. I wanted a service that was fast enough to work with our laptops and DVR. I wanted to connect to it wirelessly. On computers and tablets, I wanted it for basic internet surfing and watching an occasional video. Century Link told me the speed they have here in the area was sufficient. Century Link also scheduled my Installation with my DirecTV service guy. The internet receiver showed up after that appointment so he could not connect the DVR to the internet for me. After my internet arrived I had to call DirecTV for the part to be shipped to connect to the internet. They sent the wrong part and we had to wait again for the right part to arrive before using our on Demand features. Things wouldn't record that were scheduled to. It would take over an hour for a half hour missed episode to download to the DVR. The DVR clocked the internet to come in at a speed of 1.25 megs. Videos would freeze up on our other wireless devices as well. I called Century Link to ask them if they had a higher internet speed I could upgrade to in our area. They did not have one available. I asked to confirm that we could cancel our service without a penalty. His response was "well the internet you can". I said we would look at different options and decide what to do at a later time. In the end we learned that we needed to cancel to make the system work. I just didn't want to have to plug everything into the box and that wouldn't work with our kindles and phone anyway. At this point we have had the service longer than 30 days. When we called to cancel, this time we were told we had only 30 days to cancel so now it would cost up to 200 dollars to cancel. So much for cancel anytime. Also, when we called to get a price on the actual cost to cancel, it took us three hours to get an answer after being disconnected by them 5 times. I didn't yell or swear at the people in any way. I don't believe the representatives were hanging up on us, but their system hangs up on us all the time. I talked to three different people when I signed up, which I believed caused the confusion and why I was signed up for a different plan than I was originally told. But the company never cared or offered to resolve things. Last frustration, I've paid all of my bills on time and plan to pay the last one for early termination. Even though I was originally lied too and told there was no early termination fee. So I am irritated that the last bill has only been in my possession 16 hours, when the company is calling asking me when I'm going to pay them. I'm still waiting on the shipping label so I can send the modem I leased back to them. I was never even given the choice of buying my own or leasing it. I'm glad it was leased though. read more

I have been absolutely shocked by the lack of customer service (not with this particular store location but with the company as a whole). My husband and I switched to Centurylink for high speed internet and ended up canceling 2 weeks later because of inconsistent service/dropped internet. Luckily they had a 30 day money back guarantee on their internet service which we took advantage of. However, even though we had told the sales rep that we didn't want a modem shipped out (we would use our own), one was shipped out and we were billed shipping and handling and a monthly lease fee. After holding on the phone for a while I was told that I had to return the modem to UPS myself to have it returned. The first bill we received after canceling still contained internet related charges (about $70 worth) including shipping and handling and the monthly lease fee for the modem. Not wanting to pay the extra charges, I called in to Century Link to get the bill resolved and paid over the phone since I was unable to pay online (wouldn't let me since my account number was deactivated). After 30 minutes on hold I talked to a very abrupt, unhelpful lady who told me I couldn't pay over the phone with her and that I should just wait for the Closing Bill. I followed her advice, let the original bill go overdue and received a revised bill a week later, opening it on a Friday evening. The next morning, I received a Collections notice saying Centurylink was taking me to Collections!! The letter was dated 1 day after letting the original bill go overdue! Absolutely ridiculous and extremely frustrating because I am very meticulous about paying my bills. I called this morning when Centurylink was finally open (no weekend customer service) and finally got a helpful human being to explain the bill to me, make sure there were no extra charges, and pay over the phone. She told me not to worry about the Collections Agency. I called them anyway and they said they have been hearing the same type of story from many Centurylink customers. Also, if I hadn't have called the Collections agency, my credit (which I am very protective of) would have been dinged after 30 days. Absolutely unacceptable service from Centurylink. I will NEVER be sending any friends or family in their direction. I will be advising them to run the other way! Think long and hard before doing business with this company. read more
