I am writing this review because for the third time since becoming a customer 6 months ago I have been scheduled for a service appointment with a no-show technician. I will give them points because every tech I have encountered is kind and has good customer service. They also often empathize about the scheduling and dispatch problems. It takes Century Link at least four days to come out for service, sometimes even over a week before another appointment is available. That is, if they even show up. When it is the company's fault that they missed the service appointment, they still can only reschedule me four days from now, after I've already waited a week. I am a remote worker in a role that deals with highly confidential information. I cannot just find a spot with internet connection and set up shop, so these recurrent instances affect my job. I have had to spend money out of pocket to rent spaces where I can work with sensitive information comfortably. When I have requested compensation of any kind in exchange for the inconvenience, I have been denied every time. This has been a disappointing experience to say the least. read more

My internet has been out for 11 days. Every day the new service restoration is updated to a random hour the next day, or 2 days away. There is zero response to questions that can only be asked thru Ai chat, so only machine response. I have no expectations of service because it seems only 2 of us are out. The outage is so small it seems engineered to make us quit, maybe we have a forever account? There is no phone menu option for customer service, only purchase of new or upgraded service. Just read through the reviews for this company. Not one good review. I've never seen that with any other company. I wonder if Centurylink aka Lumen Technologies even cares about providing certain types of old school service, like landline connections anymore. According to The Motley Fool, the corporation's struggling to turn a profit, which would explain a lot. So, here my Centurylink aka Lumen Technologies story ends. We cancelled our landline service yesterday after 24 years, so long ago the company was then called Qwest. That meant our home phone number, which was primary contact number for all business, medical and other accounts had to be deleted from all those records. And I tell you, with some accounts that was not easy. So it's 5G wireless service only for us from now on. But I want to re-emphasize how truly poor Centurylink's service continues to be. Our landline was mostly down for about two weeks which is why we finally cancelled service. BUT, both strangely and telling, during the sporadic times we got a dial tone and could both call out and receive calls, every single incoming call was from auto dialers using spoofed numbers. Think about that. The service is down and on the limited days it comes back up, the only phone calls are from scammer auto dialers. No friends or family. No prospective customers for our home-based business. No physicians offices. Just the scammers. So along with unreliable service that more than provided justification for cutting the cord, so to speak. Since we paid our final bill, Centurylink still owes us money for the downed service time. Once again I'd filed a complaint with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, which is just one of thousands. But they'll ensure we get a full refund for lost service, but it could take a few months. read more

Terrible company! We've been out of service since thieves cut the main line about 3 weeks ago. After spending over an hour trying to learn their version of "Engrish", I was offered a $5. discount. Seriously? Our monthly bill is $225. They told me that I would have to get a technician out but can't because they have our billing and physical address incorrect and are unable to correct it. My internet went down late-February 2026 and Centurylink informed me I won't have my internet service back until November 2026 due to a "wide-area outage." A friend scoured the net looking for info on this outage, but no info anywhere. I used the Centurylink Chat service multiple times to get details on this outage but got nowhere. These Chat people are poorly trained and a complete waste of time. I've filed complaints with the FCC as well as the Louisiana AG's office, Centurylink's headquartered state, along with a cc: to the AG office in my home state. read more

Spent 15 minutes to get a live person tech support, and have a technicial schedule to come out in 6 days. If you can go 6 days without you business phones, then they might be your company. They keep disconnecting our phone service. Switched us to Quantum to solve all the internet and phone disconnections which promptly eliminated the recently restored phone service connection. For obvious reasons, we only want copper wired phone service, as is federally protected. They said they would not re-wire our phone for this service when their own website says that they do. read more

This company is incompetent. I don't know how they can stay in business. I have set up 4 different appointments to try to get phone service installed, and each time they made me wait 9 hours with no specified time they'd arrive, and they didn't show up, with no explanation. Absolutely terrible first experience with Quantum Fiber. I scheduled an installation and waited all morning for the technician, only to watch him pull up, sit in his truck, then leave without ever knocking or attempting to contact me. Minutes after he left, the status updated saying he was there. When I followed up, I was told my appointment had to be rescheduled for two days later, even though I was clearly home and tried to flag the technician down. This is completely unacceptable. I work remotely and had taken the day off specifically for this appointment. To make matters worse, the system claimed the technician couldn't access the property--which is just false. I've been with Xfinity for over 15 years and never experienced anything like this. I regret giving Quantum Fiber a chance. I am a property manager of a small apartment building with tenants who are both CenturyLink and Quantum clients. I have been trying for months to connect with the correct person to move the building's phone box which hasn't been updated since the 1940's and is blocking a larger electrical project. It takes hours on the phone to even get a tech out, we've had appointments randomly cancelled multiple times, the techs hand us off to someone else who doesn't respond to calls or emails. At this point we are going to have to rip out the phone box and our tenants will have to find other providers. I'm part of a larger property management group in the Seattle area and we will NOT be recommending or using any CenturyLink /Quantum / Lumen services. Two salespeople from quantum fiber showed up at our door on a Sunday afternoon and tried to convince my wife to switch ISPs. She graciously declined. They returned several hours later and when my wife answered the door they asked to speak to her husband. It is true that my wife is older and has grey hair. it is also true that until recently she was a director at a major tech firm. Should be zero stars as this is the worst company I've ever worked with for any service. I had their Fiber for ~1.5 months, it was out for about four days, so I cancelled. They charged me for an extra month, which I had no idea about, which was sent to a debt collection agency. Never had this happen in my life. Long story short, CenturyLink took the charge off of my bill, but now the debt collection agency is still trying collect because they apparently can't speak to each other once it's been filed. I've spoken with CenturyLink several times now and I have to file a dispute with the debt collection agency for CenturyLink's mistake. Not sure if it will affect my credit. It's been an absolute nightmare. I'll also be filing a complaint with the BBB as this company should not be in business. I would urge everyone to stay away. read more

Terrible service. I couldn't get a person on the phone, only a robot, asking irrelevant questions. To boot, a couple of times the robot said it could not find my account based on my phone number, and hung up on me! So I decided to go to XFiniti. However, they wanted to go to new measures with their system, and I didnt want all that new equipment installed. So I decided to try CL one more time. The first CL repairman couldn't fix it. He said he'd go to lunch and come back after a vehicle blocking his way to a nearby pole moved. 45 minutes later, while at home, I get a message saying that he tried to return and I wasn't home! A lie. The second repairman told me to switch to Quantum, that it would be faster. The switch was successful. So finally, after 2 months I had home internet again. No faster though. When I call CL again they wouldn't give me credit for the two months I was without service. Even though the repairman told me that it was their fault. When I got upset about it, a CL woman named Rebecca hung up on me. Horrible company. read more

Just terrible customer service. Our internet went out during a storm, and CenturyLink said the earliest they could send someone to fix it was one week later. Super inconvenient since we need internet to work from home. A week later, the technician fails to show up for our appointment! And instead of sending someone the next day, what does CenturyLink do? They put us in the back of the line and tell us we'll have to wait another week for the next available appointment! We chatted and called multiple customer service agents, but they said there was nothing they could do. It's been almost two weeks now, and we're still waiting for someone to come fix our internet. Do not use Century Link for business. We moved our office about two blocks. We did not add or change our number or any other services. I have been on the phone with them for a minimum of an hour each day for two weeks. We still do not have VM and they discontinued our fax number. I have been told one thing one day by a tech and exactly the opposite thing the next day. These people have no idea of how to help you. Phone and VM should be their jam, but they cannot even get that right. I have been promised call back by supervisors and they dont call you back. I have been transferred umpteen times and I know that there is a chance that I will be hung up on when I am transferred. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN HELP IT. CenturyLink Internet service has been pretty bad over the years -- lots of outages, terrible customer service, gimmicky upselling -- but its most recent ploy -- using its upgrade to "Quantum Fiber," whatever that means -- to upsell customers on faster speeds and automatic payment, is beyond the pale. Instead of simply notifying customers that their old Internet service would now being totally unreliable, they simply waited for complaints to cone in, then suggested that the reason the service was bad is that customers need "Quantum Fiber." What they really mean is that they've disrupted service day after day while they put in new lines (or upgrade old ones) -- or so they say -- without telling anyone they are doing so. The only way you can get this "upgraded" service at the same price you already paying is to agree to an automatic bank deduction. I declined, added the service, and told them I'd be looking for a more reliable and honest provider. Enough! read more

Absolutely horrible service. I recently setup a new Quantum Fiber account at a new location, while keeping my CenturyLink internet service and phone at the old location. Everything worked fine for a month, then suddenly I got a notice that my "order" was about to be completed. After digging into it, it turns out they had initiated an "order" to turn off my internet service at my old location. Apparantly they somehow decided that my new Quantum service (at a different address) should be replacing my old service. Surely I'm not the only person in the country that has internet service at two different properties! OK, so they made a mistake - should be a simple matter to fix it. This is where the HELL of dealing with them began. Took me a good half an hour just to figure out how to get past the idiotic voice prompt system to speak to a human being, then another half hour to explain the problem and get them to fix it. They kept asking my about my "order". I had to keep explaining, "NO, I did NOT request this." How infuriating! Also, when I tried to log on to my Centurylink account online, it wouldn't let me in, telling me my password was incorrect. But I use a password manager, and it does not "forget" my password. So I clicked the "forgot password" link (no, I didn't actually forget it, you are the ones who seem to have forgotten it!) and went to enter a new password. It refused to accept the randomly generated passwords, telling me the 12-character password I was submitting had to be less than 32 characters. read more

I've been a customer for 8 months now, and can say without a doubt CenturyLink has been the worst internet service I've had in my 20 years of managing my own ISP. My network goes down regularly, and in particular, my upload speeds are atrocious which makes video calls or even simple website requests impossible. I've called them every few weeks for the past few months, and have been rushed off the phone every time -- I had an old router, so someone came and replaced it. Then I was hitting "max bandwidth too often and the system flagged it", so I set my routers' limit to 80% the gigbit speed. Then it was because I was using a VPN (despite that being very common for anyone working from home). Then they were going to send a new modem, but it was never put in the mail. I've had 3 technicians out and because the connection was fine the moment they were there it wasn't taken seriously (anyone with a computer can go to speedtest.net, which is all that was ever done when a tech has been out here). I've been avoiding Comcast as long as possible, and was really hoping to get out of their monopoly this time. Unfortunately, CenturyLink hasn't been able to deliver the service they promised and I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back. After experiencing an outage I reported it and they broke commitment after commitment. Day 1 - Reported an internet outage via chat. Told a repair tech would be out by day 3. Day 3 - at 3pm I call to make sure they are still coming out. Informed no ticket was created but I have the chat transcript where they promised to come out on day 3. they won't be able to make it until day 6. 30 minutes after I hang up I get a text saying they will come out on day 9. I call support to find out if it's true and it is. Day 9 - receive text saying support tech will arrive between 9:45 and 1:45pm. Check the app to find out a more detailed ETA. Oh if ONLY I could give zero stars, I would I would. My 92 year old father does not have a cell phone, he needs a landline as he is a bit hard of hearing. His phone stopped working 9 days ago, and I called to make an appointment to have it fixed. We had to wait 9 days for an appointment, and the window for the technician showing up was 8a-5p. My dad's doorbell at his condo is connected to his phone, so because his phone isn't working, he waited in the lobby of his condo to let the Century Link technician into the building. He waited for NINE hours. ALL DAY LONG. And they never showed up. When I called them to find out what happened they said the technician got behind and "wasn't able to make it today". They never called my cell, they never said sorry, and they made my dad wait NINE hours for an appointment they set up and never showed up for. I then inquired what time they'd be coming the next day, and they said the soonest appointment to reschedule their screw up is 11 days from now. My father needs his phone for emergencies, for receiving important calls from family who check on him daily, and in general for communication. His hearing problem prevents him from using a cell phone, so the land line is his life line. OF COURSE Century Link is the only telephone service available. The "supervisor" I talked to was unable to do anything to help fix this problem, and I told her how much Century Link sucks. If you are thinking about using them for phone/internet, just don't. I am trying to cancel a Century Link account my dead relative had. They told me I had to complete a form online then email them a copy of the death certificate. We tried opening the online form emailed to me by Century Link on 3 laptops in our home. It will not open on any of them. I was told I could go to a nearby Century Link location in my area to get the form printed and complete it. I have searched and there are no in-person locations in my area. I will now have to wait another 30 minutes on hold to speak with a representative. What a hassle. So glad I don't use these folks for my internet! ~h read more

Signed up for service 2 hours ago, with the website claiming I could get connected instantly. This turned out to be a total lie. I was unable to connect and support was unable to remedy the situation. They said they could send someone out in 7 days. As I have no intention of paying for my first week of service with no connection, I asked to cancel my account. Although the Subscriber Agreement currently states that customers can receive a full refund within the first three days, the support staff refused to issue a refund of any amount. 0 stars, never had worse customer support experience in my life. My internet went out, and they proceeded to miss 7 appointments in a row over a 2 MONTH period. They promised me credits for the missed appointments and for not having internet for 2 months, but I never received them. After following up asking for the credits, they denied it and tried giving me a finance support number. This number, as you would guess, was a robot giving me 3 options that did not help me whatsoever. Needless to say I dropped their service and never looked back. As many have mentioned, the internet is pretty good, when it actually works. But god forbid your internet goes out, you will be completely out of luck, and your chances of getting it fixed are slim to none. read more

My parents who are elderly have been without a phone for almost 2 months. Every time we try to get a hold of somebody at CenturyLink they said they will call back with updates. As of now we've never received an update we always have to call. They keep telling us , but it's one thing and then it's another thing, I think they are full of it. Have been trying to setup a simple internet connection for an entire day now. 6-7 times now in ROW I've been transferred to "the right person to set me up" only to have that person transfer me again. None of their workers seem to know anything, or care. Avoid this place like the plague. Words can't begin to express how awful of a company this is to deal with. Called them three times and waited for over 30 min each time only to have someone on the other end hang up on us. We called back to cancel our service. Took us in total 20 min to set up xfinity and got our internet up same day. Complete opposite experiences. read more
