Signing up for another year. Really enjoy being a customer of a local Ballard business that offers great service and support. Great option for marina wi-fi. It's easy to unhook from the slip. My streaming bandwidth is fine for Netflix. Also, my issue with my personal router was an easy fix over the phone- no 20+ minute wait on hold. I have to use other companies in Colorado for my parents and the big providers (CL) have different outcomes depending on who I get and inevitably things are a mess. I took my laptop in to a computer repair shop in Ballard and their diagnosis was wham bam "this will cost you $400". I decided to shop around and brought my laptop into Salmon Bay Technology. Matt, the repair tech, did some cleaning and some homework on my laptop and called me up with some suggestions and some options. He was very helpful and I never felt like they were pushing me into a repair that I didn't need. Bottom line, good service saved me $200. Now my go-to computer repair shop. They're a bit hidden but follow the signs and you will be rewarded. You get to drive through an awesome boatyard. Highly recommended. read more

I would give more stars if I could. I am so computer naïve, that it would be so easy to take advantage of my ignorance. I brought my computer here after a MAJOR malfunction, and I had been told that it was hopeless by others. Not only did they completely fix it, they made it a better computer than it was when it was brand new. The customer service was top notch, I was informed of each step and given options as to what else could be done to improve my computer and the best thing? not only is it working better than it ever did, it was so very affordable. It was much less $ than I thought it would have been. Not only will I always go here, I put their business card up on our bulletin board at work to let others know to check this place out first. My only regret about working with Erin is that I wish I'd called him sooner. I run an e-commerce company with multiple servers and a firewall. Our DSL modem failed and knocked us out of business for a full day during our peak selling season. My wife suggested I call Erin. She said "I KNOW he can fix it." Holy cow, Erin was incredible. Prior to bringing my PC to Salmon Bay Technology, I had had a pretty lousy experience at a different repair shop who had held on to my computer for close to a week and done next to nothing with it, so when I called Salmon Bay and spoke with Matt, I was relieved to talk to someone who was confident in their ability to do the necessary testing on the components that I thought might have been damaged when I accidentally shorted out my motherboard. I got a call back from them within three business days of dropping my PC off letting me know what they suspected, and after I brought the replacement components in they had everything set up and working within an hour or so. On top of that, the final bill was much more reasonable than what I had been quoted by the other shop. Even though their office is sort of tucked away down by the water in Ballard, it's more than worth the effort to seek them out if you have any computer problems. read more

These guys are super trust worthy. I randomly googled this place and had no idea what I was getting in to, and I really got lucky I didn't go anywhere else. Matt there is super friendly, and helpful. They fixed my laptop and it even came back to me cleaner and better looking than when I gave it to them (Im an artist so my laptop was splattered with paint). They're not afraid to go the extra mile, and are so helpful when I just cant figure out how to get things running again. Bigger isn't necessarily better. I've watched this business grow based on good service and reputation, but my last interaction was my worst. My DC power adaptor pin finally broke on my 6-year-old laptop, so I can't charge the battery. When I called SBT, I got into their phone tree, with a robotic male voice and no option to speak to a human being. Option #8 seemed the closest, but when I pressed it I got disconnected. I finally called back and pressed another random option, and a person actually answered. I told the woman my issue, which she said she wasn't familiar with (??!). I asked her what the approximate cost was for fixing a broken DC adaptor, she said they would have to look at my computer first to determine the problem. I told her I knew what the issue was and could I get a ballpark figure for what such repairs typically cost, and she said I could only talk to a technician if I paid a fee. Yikes! The guy at Seattle Laptop who answered after I gave up on SBT immediately gave me a figure for the job after a 1-minute conversation, "no problem", he said, since it's such a common issue. I think SBT needs to think about upgrading their customer experience - giving good service isn't enough if your phone tree and gatekeepers aren't up to the job. read more

If you are like me, you normally would feel helpless when computer crashes... That happened to me couple days before New Years. Taking it to a repair shop, of course you can't avoid the fear that because you are clueless about the subject, they can take advantage of you. Pretty much what happened to me with the first shop I took my laptop too. Just to do diagnoses, they charged me $40. In couple of days final verdict was that hard drive is dead and I have to replace it ($80) and it will take about 2 - 3 hours of labor - altogether about $250... and that without data recovery... I decided to shop around and saw Erin's shop with great reviews. Stopped by on Thursday. Erin said to call back in few hours. Long story short, I had my laptop in same condition before crash (with full data recovered) next morning (NYE!) and no hardware replacement was needed and I only had to pay less then one third of what the over shop was to charge me without data recovery. Erin is very honest and true professional, who has great knowledge of what he does. Absolutely trustworthy, which is not easy to find, specially in this economy. Would recommend him to all my friends! read more
