Small stage with live bands, see picture or website. Small parking lot, don't even bother, plenty of street parking. Open 5 days a week from 4pm to close. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Service - 6 stars. They welcomed our team. Approved us bringing in food (from Pizza Plus) for our event. The waitress and the bar service were perfect. Came and got our drink orders often. Price - HH $5 beers. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2007. Our team has been regular customers since??? So I guess we will be coming here more often. read more

Almost 10 years since my last review of Ceol, and looking back it's all still true! Ceol has always been a staple for good live music, and the new location still carries that through with live music several nights of the week. On a Thursday night we came in for some drinks and enjoyed a live Bluegrass band. The Bartender and server were both very attentive and we had a great time enjoying a draft beer while listening to the music. The decor and ambiance is Irish and fun, the overall setup is nice. Looks like they have a nice patio setup for use in the Summer. Look forward to catching another night of live music soon, and will be frequenting Ceol much more now that I know what I've been missing! read more

I absolutely love Ceol and could write a novel about the experiences I've had here. Ron, the owner, works every weekend and makes a true effort to remember all of his regulars. The staff is friendly and check in on the patrons often. I've never had a problem ordering a Guinness or peppermint paddy. The bar does offer live music from local artists and I've enjoyed the performances for the most part, recently it feels like they've got the hang of their acoustics as some nights definitely sound better than others. Out of all of the artists, definitely try to catch Doyle, as we think he sounds the best but I could be biased as we're friends by proxy. One treat about this place is the popcorn machine tucked at the corner of the bar. Generally on weekends, you can expect a good amount of free popcorn and they have this creole seasoning blend to sprinkle on that takes it up a notch. Apparently, there is someone who comes by to give the seasoning so it's a protected recipe, or so they say ;) read more

Went here on a Saturday night and it was happening! There was a live band playing and it was a a good time with a great Irish pub vibe. People were singing along to the classic covers being played, some were playing uno with friends, darts with a date and others just having a good ol time! The drinks are amazing and I tried the hazelnut Irish coffee (totally recommend) and the one with grand manier, it was good too! I have dropped by Ceol a few times in the last month and I can see it being a regular spot to get a drink, hang with friends, and listen to some live music. The place can get packed and having a conversation is probably not on the agenda unless you plan on shouting, which a lot of people do. The staff is so friendly and stop to chat with you as they make their way from table to table. Parking is only on the street and I usually end up walking a block or two. My favorite seasonal drink is the hot apple pie. read more

This is another one of my top 5 bars if not my #1 bar in Reno. The atmosphere here the absolute best, Ron the owner and all his staff actually care about everyone and we come here at least a few times a month to hang out. This is the place we come to relax and enjoy our time. We legitimately even went to the Guinness factory in Dublin Ireland to get our Guinness pour certs to get hung in the bar. Another time I lost my corset in the parking lot and one of the staff remembered me and I got it back another day. Accidentally stumbled upon this bar and it was an incredible experience! The bartender Paige was so nice and service was attentive. It was a full house and proper Irish vibes with a live band and dancers. I don't believe they serve food but had a great outdoor seating area. We will be coming back more often for a fun night out. Definitely the closest you're going to get to an authentic Irish pub in Northern Nevada, from the decor to the music and of course the drink selection. The owner and frequent bartender, Ron, is wonderful! If he doesn't know you he introduces himself with a handshake and makes it a point to remember your name, while the other bartenders do the same. Therefore it's a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. They do not serve food, but there is a popcorn machine which is nice, and I assume you can byof. I believe they regularly host live performers by local artists, such as fiddle players, adding to the Irish solid Irish vibe. Not one person here knew the "whiskey and water" quote form The Quiet Man! ONE STAR!!! But seriously, Ceol is always a joy to visit. Be it for a pint of the black stuff, or whatever other suitably Celtic libation you could be fancying. This is their new location, having moved a few blocks from the older spot, and it is certainly good to have them back. The bar still has a sort of small, cozy setting, but with a few new front and back patio areas, and set back a bit from the busy street, with the interior festooned with Irish flags and paraphernalia, a few bar games scattered about, and a stage for hosting the rotation of musicians who pass through. The tap list has all the staples you could want. Guinness, of course, is always a main attraction. But in case you don't want to wait a few minutes for a properly-poured-pint, the tap list includes things like Harp, Smithwick's, and several domestic and local brews. But these guys also shine in the rest of their bar menu. A superb selection of whiskey's, but that goes without saying. Wine, ciders, spirits, as well as cocktails and house specialties. I would highly recommend trying the Ceol Coffee, which is perfect on a nice chilly evening. Or if you want something sweeter, a small glass of Irish Mist is quite pleasant to sip on, if I do say so myself. I also need to tip my hat to the staff, who constantly provide very friendly, prompt, attentive service each time I swing through. Especially this past weekend, having visited on St. Patrick's Day. As you can imagine, this was one of the epicenters for green-garbed celebrations here in Reno, and the crew were doing a real bang-up job handling orders and managing the crowds. As for a few last odds and ends: Prices for everything are on par with most other pubs here in town, and there's a nice happy hour. No food options, except the popcorn machine. Parking is limited to only three spaces out front, but the surrounding neighborhoods have usually plenty of street spaces. And I would be remiss if I didn't make mention of their Beer Truck, too. In my opinion, they run the best beverage wagon in the city, though only in operation during summer food truck events or other such occasions. Not the biggest selection of drinks, though with a few beers along with usually some wine and cider, they nevertheless really excel in serving them up fast and keeping the line moving. Definitely seek them out this summer. All in all, it is easy to see why so many folks have such fond opinions of Ceol. For sure top marks all around, and will always look forward to heading back down for a pint and wee dram. read more

Ceol has moved! It's no longer on S Virginia; it's now on California, between Lander and Creek, quite close to Arlington. The bar is set back from the road, with a small parking lot with room for four cars in front. There's lots of street parking in that area as well as another small lot that you access from Lander. I prefer the new space to the old space: it's larger and more open. The bar area looks classic deep wood. There's lots of seating inside as well as outside in the front and back areas for when the weather is nice. Quiet dogs are permitted in the bar. Ceol regularly changes their special mixed drink offerings, which are enticing. Yes, I would like a warm wintry beverage with lots of liquor and cream! There is also an ample beer and wine menu. Friends with varied tastes can drink happily together here. I am part of a running club that meets here on the 5th Wednesdays of the month in the evening, and I am so impressed with the service. We descend on the bar all at once after our run, but they slang those drink orders quickly. In my experience, the bartenders monitor the tables for empties and proactively stop by the tables to ask if patrons would like another round. When you're deep in group conversation but folks want more, this level of service is so appreciated. They will even cash you out and bring the credit card reader to the table! I am so glad to see Ceol thriving in this new instantiation. Highly recommend this gem that folks might overlook because the exterior is so unassuming. read more

I didn't eat, I simply went in and had a few pints of Guinness. Ron (the owner) was behind the bar and was very welcoming to the handful of folks in there. Pints are good, although I would prefer them in a proper Guinness glass over typical American pint. Looks to be a great place to hear music and enjoy the weather as I has spacious front and rear outdoor seating areas with roll up doors. I'll certainly go back if I'm in town again. Stopped by here on a Wednesday to have a drink with friends. The bartender was very friendly, and made some good whiskey recommendations. If you come for wine, you'll be disappointed. This is a bar with good beer and whiskey, simple as that. I'd love to see them serve their sangria in the bar though. They usually only serve it on their food (beer) truck and it's soooooo good. When the old Ceol closed my husband and his friends were so sad, as it had been a spot for many fun outings for our friend group. So when we found out that they reopened everyone was so excited, and we finally got a chance to check it out last night. They have a daily happy hour from 4-6, which is where our night began. We rolled in about 5:30 and stayed until about 10. They have the biggest selection of alcohol from liquor to beer and a ton of whisky choices. The bartenders are also nice and due to it being well staffed, drinks get out quickly. No food, but they didn't mind us bringing a pizza in. The location itself is also really nice. There is indoor and outdoor seating and two big garage doors that open as the night gets cooler. There are 3 parking spaces out front, but otherwise it's like any other midtown spot where you find parking and walk over. read more

I adore this bar. The staff is awesome and friendly, the service is quick, and the whiskey is plentiful. They do a whiskey passport thing, where you drop a few bucks to get this cute little book (honestly it's nicer than my actual passport), then every new whiskey you try is $1 off. There's room for notes, so you can keep track of what you liked, and everyone there seems to know their stuff, so you can tell them which ones you've enjoyed and get recommendations accordingly. The music on weekends has been pretty good; I haven't had a chance to go to a Tuesday night for traditional Irish music but I have great hope. Regarding trivia, I will say this: two people host it and the guy is total douche. His questions are bad, his patter is bad, his attitude is bad, and he treats his co-workers like garbage. Based on the yelp reviews I had to check Ceol out while in town for the weekend. It did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back when in Reno. The bartenders are friendly and the environment is cool. The selection of import and micros on tap pleased me greatly. Black and tan on tap is a nice touch. The bartender said Kruosvice will soon be on tap as well. I love Irish pubs. I love everything about Ireland. Perhaps that's because I lived there for a year. So when I come across a really cool Irish pub here in America, I get excited. Ceol is just that. My dad had discovered this pub on his many trips to Reno but had never been inside. We came in on a Friday night and the place was pretty empty. But we were warmly greeted by the bartender and took a seat at the bar. Live music was about to begin so we settled in with some Irish whiskey and enjoyed the ambience the bar had to offer. They had a huge selection of both Scottish and Irish whiskey. And on tap, all of the Irish favorites: Guinness, Magner's, Harp, etc. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. This is a really cool little pub and I hope it sticks around because I will definitely come back to visit the next time I'm in Reno. read more

There is always a friendly conversation to pick up or entertainment to enjoy. And, well of course there are the beverages - excellent whisky, beers and drinks.
