Very cool experience here. It definitely gives you that neighborhood bar that everyone knows your name - very welcoming. The bartender was super cool. I came here for the comedy show and I really enjoyed it! It's always fun to support local comedians and I appreciate that Shanty Dolan's provides a place to see locals perform. I did have a little issue with the bar service here. I asked for a gimlet with a splash of elderflower if they had it. It was not made correctly and the bartender acknowledged that she didn't know how to make it and asked me to try it and see if it was okay. I said it didn't taste like a gimlet but it was fine! When I went to close out, I was shocked to see that I was charged $20 for my single drink when all of the other cocktails on their list were $10-$12. On my itemized bill, I was charged $12 for the gimlet and $8 for just a splash of elderflower. My friend got 3 margaritas and paid the same amount as my 1 drink! My friend saw my receipt and asked the bartender why my single drink was so expensive and the bartender said that is just what they charge for even just a splash of elderflower. I was wondering why I saw some negative reviews for this place and it seems like they definitely play favorites here which doesn't feel justified. I hate to leave reviews like this but I also want other customers to be informed that there may be a price discrepancy between customers. read more

There is no food options. They do have a food truck that shows up occasionally that takes up what little parking spaces they have. They have a beautiful wall of liquor if you can find parking. Staff lets regulars vape inside although it's a non smoking bar. Staff can be irritable if you ask too many questions. They do allow outside food but no drinks. read more

As a visiting Reno High alum from San Diego, I dropped in on a Thursday at 4 pm to check the bar out and see what the alums talked about when meeting there. My Filipino/black wife was treated very well and the folks in the bar let us pet their dogs as long as we wanted (dogs never had enough). Bar tender helped my wife understand how to play bar-top blackjack. Didn't try well drinks, and call drinks were a bit pricy but full strength with more than fair pours. Great old photos in the walls. Had to leave before the comedy started, but plan to return tonight (Fir) for the music. Small, cozy, and architecturally cool. Only wish the tables outside were not right against the sidewalk because when leaving the parking lot, it's tough to see left to watch for cars speeding down Keystone Ave. read more

This is my new neighborhood bar. They did a great job on the remodel. It has a nice Irish pub vibe. The staff knows their whiskey. Prices are reasonable. They have a good selection of Irish and some Scotch. I stopped by with a friend and we ran into a neighbor. Another time I stopped in and found a couple of neighbors there. That's been happening. A food truck with spicey chicken nuggets showed up a couple of times. That added to the fun. They stay open late too. It's tempting to stop in on the way home. read more

Who knew this was here! St pattys night had to go out and celebrate and this location seemed like they had a great night lined up! We arrived around 8pm and it was packed! My only complaint was how little bartenders their were, the outdoor bar was cash only so I ended up standing in line for the indoor bar and it took over 30 minutes to get one beer out. The live band was awesome and super engaging, everyone had an absolute hoot of a time dancing and singing. Plenty of parking as well. read more

I just recently l posted, I have 20 years of bartending and I feel like if they put me on cash only so the bartenders can steal, This a classic way bartenders steal from their employers. Also, bar owners check your cameras and see how much John drinks behind your bar. Where I come from bartenders are not allowed drink especially when you have gaming. You all took your Alcohol Awareness course? Did you know over serving a gamer is against the law? But if you a GM drinking shot after shot probably on your dime honestly can not monitor this? You will lose your gaming license if you continue to let this happen? Time for new management or kiss your ass goodbye. read more

I had the pleasure of stopping in here during their opening weekend and was quite impressed. They staged off the parking lot for live music and vendors and I believe have plans to continue doing special events like it in the future. The bar inside is pretty small but in a nice and cozy way. The decor is definitely on theme throughout the building and the bartenders are prompt and keep the drinks flowing. I would absolutely stop in again when fancying a drink with my husband and a couple of friends but would save this for smaller gatherings overall. read more

Really nice afternoon spent hanging out here. They have been open 4 days and are doing great. We chatted with one of the owners, Breck (sp?) Dolan and the bartender John. They were friendly, attentive and mixed a mean drink. I never went into the previous incarnation of this building because frankly it looked a little sketchy. Now however it is open, airy and full of atmosphere. I tried one of their whiskeys, then one of their cocktails but then settled on the "Triple Play" man did it go down smooth. I could have drank a pitcher of it. I might have. Well long story short, go check them out folks. It's definitely a place that I will be a frequent flier. read more

Hip new Irish pub that just opened in an up and coming area. Lots of hot male bartenders. 6 or so beers on tap, lots of good whiskey, and all your other standard drinks including plenty of local spirits. Their opening weekend festival looked awesome and though it was impacted by some rainy weather leading us all to the indoor space, the outdoor space looks set up for some super fun outdoor events in the future. read more

This has taken a lot of thought and emotions for me to post. I use to visit this bar when it was known as Mama Bears. I was pleasantly surprised how Shanty Dolan took so good care to remodeled it and made 2nd street look and feel up to date. It provided a feel of being in midtown. During my visits there I always used their ATM because I like to gamble. I even brought my husband, and nieces there. We would tip Kelly up to $80 because we liked her. Then one night I came in I was asked that I pay in cash because Kelly said I dispute credit cards. One that is hard to when I always hit the ATM and my purse was stolen out of their bar, so I was waiting for my new credit and debit cards to come in the mail. it took almost a month because my bank mailed my debit card to the wrong address. Last month after working all day I stopped in with my niece and forgot I had no way to pay. Kelly let me behind the bar to Apple Pay and I gave her $10 tip as a thank you. I went in tonight cash in hand was asked to leave by John " the general manager " as he claimed he was. I have been there several times on John shifts and it difficult to get a drink because he one shot in his hand purposely ignores you and talks shit to everyone trying to buy a drink. Not funny John, it takes a special person to bartend. Now the only dispute I can think of is when I came in with my friend Ron who John refused to serve without his stupid ass games. He charged him 3 times because John was so drunk. I feel that the bar is snobby about who there going to serve and lie without trying to let me the customer prove I did not or would ever dispute charges. I felt completely humiliated and started to cry walking out of the bar when asked to do so. Kelly is nice but because I shared with her about domestic violence she always brings it up and brings me down. This bar is beautiful and good gaming but the way I was treated by the staff was horrible. Too bad because it could be a nice neighborhood bar but the staff is either trashed or a snob. I have my bank statements and not one dispute. I honestly would like to talk to an actual owner not John the drunk and show I never disputed any cc transactions. read more
