It's family owned by a father, brother, and sister, which adds to its welcoming and authentic feel. I also loved learning that the building has historical significance. Be sure to check out the plaque outside if you visit. The customer service was outstanding. Zach greeted us as soon as we walked in, seated us quickly, and took the time to explain the menu and answer our questions. His friendly personality and knowledge made us feel right at home. I had a tough time deciding between the Homegrown Burger and the Alaskan Salmon, but I went with the burger. It was cooked exactly how I requested, juicy, flavorful, and easily one of the better burgers I've had in Reno. I'd give it a 9.2/10. My wife ordered the macaroni and cheese. She thought the flavor was delicious, but the sauce was a little thinner than she prefers, so she gave it a 6/10. Even so, she still finished the entire plate, which says a lot about how good it tasted. For dessert, we shared the apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. It wasn't overly sweet. The warm cobbler paired perfectly with the cold, creamy ice cream. To top it all off, Zuck even gave us a mini tour of the restaurant, which made the experience feel even more personal. I have always been a fan of this place but my last visit and this most recent one just aren't what I remembered. I ordered Korean street tacos and felt like it went down a notch with the tacos shells vs fresh tortillas. Maybe I missed that on the menu? What an amazing place! Went here for a mother's day brunch. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. I ordered Guinness and the pour was perfect. Also no bitter aftertaste, so they know how to maintain their lines The Billionaire Burger was amazing. We were given a choice where we wanted to sit. Water and menus were brought right away. Kenyon our server, took drink orders and on returning took our meal orders. The atmosphere is relaxing and easy on the eyes. Very comfortable couch-like seating. It's kinda small therefore, a nice intimate place for a romantic meal. My sandwich on the other hand, not so wonderful. We stopped in on a Wednesday after my sister/brother-in-law arrived to town. Overall, it was pretty good! Here is what we noticed: - Great atmosphere inside, with a very cool bar. The grilled cheese sandwich was pretty normal, but the tomato basil soup was especially good. - As we were the only folks in the place, service was very attentive. I will start by saying my sandwich and beer were tasty and good. They will boast all local ingredients, but 30 bucks for a cheese steak on ciabatta bread is steep. The burger my wife had was the same price and nothing special to note exept she ordered no tomato and it came with tomato. Both of our fries were soggy and cold. A draft beer for 16 dollars is also more than expected. Our bartender was professional and chatty. He did pull a nice bottle of tequila down for us to admire, and told us about some other fancy top shelf stuff they had. I appreciate they were even open. Service was great, everyone looked taken care of. The place looked clean; and the food looked great everywhere, ours just flopped. All of the other patrons there were probably late 50s and up at 2pm on Memorial day. This is one of the most expensive underwhelming lunches I've had ever had in Reno. I ordered the Vegan Kimchi Super Food Wrap for lunch on Wednesday, August 12. Before ordering, I reviewed the restaurant's description of scratch-made items and organic or locally sourced produce, and I mistakenly believed the wrap would be a fresh, vegetable-based "super food" option. When the order arrived, I took a bite and immediately asked the waitress what the patty was made of. She asked the cook, who told her it was made of all vegetables. However, it tasted like a greasy, beef-like patty, and I found the flavor and texture unpleasant. I ended up eating the entire wrap because I was hungry and the waitress didn't offer an alternative. I really want to love this place - the interior is so vibey and chill and the staff is always awesome. But for the price you pay, the size and quality of food really doesn't match up for me. Their desserts are my favorite thing and well worth it! The menu is large but some options are only available at certain times (breakfast, obviously, but I'm bummed the sandwiches aren't available later!) I previously enjoyed the korean pork tacos from their small plates menu, the flavors are great, but this time the meat wasn't drained well and it was so oily/greasy it pooled so much it ran off the plate onto the table... and of course down my chin, yum! It was hard to choose from the wonderful array of healthy options but although fully a carnivorous person, this evening a Vegetarian Portobello Mushroom Stack caught my eye and I tried that. It was wonderful! It featured Balsamic panko crusted organic portabella mushrooms, layered with natural goat cheese, organic quinoa and grilled zucchini, served over organic wilted swiss chard, roasted brussel sprouts and a house oven roasted tomato sauce. The evening was pricey but expected when you have so many clean, organic ingredients on the menu...! The interior has a really cool feel showcasing a classy copper accented ceiling with antique chandeliers. We were seated quickly upon arrival and had a nice table by the window. Our server took our drink order quickly, we both got a pigeon head IPA that was alright, a little heady but was drinkable. The beer menu has several local brews which is nice. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my wife ordered a small salad, which was still pretty large. The chicken and waffles were alright, I expected the chicken to be more of a buttermilk thick breast, but as pictured they are more of a chicken fried chicken patty. There were 3 patties which was more than enough for the meal, glad I was sharing! The brussel sprouts wee good, not great. A little over cooked and mushy, would prefer more of a roasted crispy style but still worth eating. The service was good, casual which I appreciate, they knew when to check on us but also gave us space to enjoy our conversation. I understand that Homegrown is sourcing their ingredients locally and uses organic, etc. but the prices seem a bit high for me. I think having the sandwich options available after 5PM would be nice. I would come back, but may hesitate a bit to see if I'm willing to splurge on a pub style meal. Coming in for lunch or breakfast may be a better option for me as those menus seemed a little more reasonable and had options that appealed to me. Needed a late lunch, and there was parking near by. I walked in to the dark pub, my eyes still acclimating to the change from outside bright sun to dark and cozy. A woman seated at the bar asked how many? She never got up. And pointed at a table near by. It seemed a little strange, the bartender's girlfriend helping out? It wasn't super busy at 3pm one group seated and eating and another couple came in after me. I had already checked out the menu in the parking lot so my order was quick. Old Rose cocktail and the BBQ Pulled pork sandwich. I was excited to try the "white kimchi" that came on the sandwich. The drink was served pretty quick, love giant ice cubs with my whisky! I enjoyed the moderately loud music, grooving along with T Rex while I waited. Turns out that woman at the bar was an employee, ending her shift. Bartender at this point was on his own and handling it all. Checking out my sandwich when it came out, I noticed purple cabbage, not white kimchi, slight disappointment, and I usually avoid shoestring fries as they are usually under cooked and limp or over cooked and dry. To my suprise there was only one big limp one right on top. The rest were perfectly cooked. The sandwich was good, a saucy fork and knife situation. While not, white kimchi, the purple cabbage was crisp and flavorful with a slight afterburn of spices. There was also "entertainment". A street person walked in the door and started yelling "work with me!" Over and over. He wanted fries, and the bartender let him know "not right now!" Street person left. Obviously this establishment has given this guy free fries in the past. Sadly no good deed goes unpunished. If you give them anything, they will be back.
