Cerbone's is located within a shopping center with plenty of free parking. It is also a kosher, gluten free, sugar free and nut free bakery. It was alright but nothing special. It's small in comparison to other bakeries I've been to. The Mickey Mouse cookie I tried was dry and lacked flavor. Not completely terrible but not great either. I might try something else next time. Was in the area getting lunch at Cava and decided to stop by to pick up treats for the office. They fill the cannolis to order which I prefer and they were delicious. Would highly recommend. Counter girls were sweet and answered all of my silly questions. They also sell day old treats at a discount so gotta love that! read more

The guy helping me picked up the phone while getting my stuff together. He didn't put the phone down and when I asked for my change he told the person on the phone, " sorry about that". That was just plain rude and not sure I'll be back. It's the little things that mean a lot. read more

I went to Cerbone's and ordered a Graduation Cake for my son who needs a Nut Free Option. I also had him choose cookies and purchased a 2lb tray of the ones he chose. He only wanted 3 types of Cookies. My friend picked the cake and cookies up for me. They were completely disorganized and could not find the cookies. Then they came out of the back with a tray. The cookies were all the wrong ones and told her that it was it. It was covered so she did not know. She trusted them. They put a few of the ones he picked on top of a random tray of cookies. I called them about it after the party because it was too late at the time. I spoke to 2 managers who insisted that I was wrong and I got what he picked. I DID NOT !!!! They did not care and were rude and told me it was too bad and there was nothing they could do. Of course there was. I will never use that bakery again and hope you will learn from my misfortune. read more

We frequent Cerbone's often as my daughter has a nut allergy. Today we visited and the bakery was very well stocked with fresh cakes, cake pops, cookie platters, full bakery of items and also A la Mode ice cream which is hard to get at most places. My daughter was in heaven, she especially loves the chocolate ganache cakes and the black and white cookies are better than anywhere we have been! Staff is always friendly and helpful. Cerbone's makes some of the prettiest baked good I've ever seen, BUT the taste never lives up to the designs. AT best, the cakes and pastries are tastless, but more often than not, you'll wind up with stale baked goods. It's happened to me twice now, and there won't be a third time. I am absolutely disgusted at the lack of professionalism of this place. I went in to pick up a bday cake for my daughter's birthday that my wife ordered. The employee behind the counter had the music system turned up too loud for me as I'm recovering from an ear injury. I wanted to place another order, but beforehand I asked the employee to please turn the music down as it was too loud for me. She gave me an odd look, then went in the back for about 2 minutes, came back out and said she doesn't have control over the volume. I said ok, I'll just take the cake then because it's too loud for me to stay here. She said I was being 'so rude to her right now'. I found this so insulting and hurtful. As a business, they should make customers feel comfortable and welcomed. Instead I left feeling insulted and regretful for giving them any business at all. We won't be back. read more

The only two reasons I come here is because they are one of the only completely NUT FREE spots in the area & everything is always consistently fresh. Other than that they have some of the rudest employees, Its actually became a joke between my friends & I because we are so blown away by the unprofessional staff. Horrible customer service, they make you feel rushed and look completely annoyed while serving you. One time I pointed to a row and was looking to see which letter & number the cookie I wanted was on and before I could speak the girl behind the counter told me "not to point they are labeled for a reason" LOL I laughed in her face bc what else can you do. Check your orders carefully while you are still in the bakery! I went into Cerbones with my in-laws to purchase a few things. Upon arriving to the car I noticed that they accidentally pulled 4 small cookies from the wrong row. Went back in and asked for the cookies from the bottom shelf. The young lady proceeded to want to charge me $2.80. I told her that I shouldn't have to pay for the wrong cookies. She said that I did not ask for the bottom row and that they don't take items back. After some back and forth I said to just give me a refund and as the lady was going to give me cash, the manager asked if it was paid by credit card to which I said yes (as my father-in-law treated the family to various items). He proceeded to tell me that he would only refund the money to the credit card. In the end, there was way too much back and forth for $2.80. The lady and manager were rude and I was in disbelief that they made such an issue for 4 small cookies costing under $3. It surprises me that they prefer to lose customers in this way. After looking at other Yelp reviews, I see I am not the only one that has been given poor treatment. read more

Ohhh Cerbones. I didn't give you much thought when I was a kid. And when I was in high school, I shoved you into that Italian bakery category that I thought I was better off ignoring. It was that category that I viewed as too simplistic with plastic-tasting frostings. (I'm Italian, and am in no way bashing Italian bakeries, but some really do taste like that!) It wasn't until just recently that I've come to appreciate you. Highly recommend the following: Cannolis: best cannoli cream I've had in Westchester thus far. I haven't compared it to Italian bakeries on Arthur Avenue, nor have I compared it to Eataly's cannolis. I may have to at some point. If I ever bought a container of the cannoli cream by itself, I'd probably eat out of it with a spoon. It's light, creamy, and has just the right amount of sweetness to make you want to go back for more. I wish I got one today! Almond Rainbow cake: THIS. This is why I love this bakery and why I keep coming back. I used to hate that sort of cookie/cake. Most bakeries make it super dry and it tastes fake. Not the case at cerbones. It's light, fluffy (sensing a theme here), sweet, almondy, and everything is so perfectly balanced that it is like a little bit of heaven. The chocolate adds a nice richness to it, as does the jam between each layer. I was ecstatic when they started selling these in a larger size. And apparently they sell it as a cake too. My poor waist line. Chocolate mousse cake: Their chocolate mousse is seriously like crack. I am a huge chocoholic, and I used to HATE mousse because it just was too...blah to me. A lot of places made it kind of fatty, and it left a coating in my mouth whenever I ate it. Not the case with this mousse. And couple it with their chocolate cake, which is light, and their chocolate coating on the top. It is the epitome of light and fluffy with that nice little crunch from the chocolate. And this chocolate is weird because it's got a chewyness that I have not encountered with other chocolates. I love it. Carrot cake: fluffy, chewy, sweet, and delicious. We got the little mini portion and it was divine. I haven't bought it again since then, but that's because I keep forgetting to buy it! They apparently have a chocolate mousse cheesecake now, which is a best seller. I forgot to get that today, since I'm trying to be good and not eat so much junk food...but I'm thinking I need to get that ASAP. Not too big a fan of their cookies, despite multiple attempts on my part to like them. Those are a bit bland for me; I'd rather just make my own. Definitely cannot eat the leaf cookies (they have the chocolate in the middle) because they taste stale in comparison to Neri's, which are another guilty pleasure of mine. All-in-all, definitely worth going to try out everything and see what you like. The prices are fair, so even if you don't like something, you won't feel that bitter disappointment of draining your wallet and not filling your tummy at the same time. read more

I've only had great experiences at Cerbone's. Never had a problem with any of the service I've had, contrary to a few other reviews I just saw. So, this seems like it may be a "Your mileage may vary" issue? But to the food - the desserts are delicious (at least as good or better than what I've seen at Neri's, also in Port Chester). My personal favorite is the Napoleons, though I also regularly check out whatever is in the day-old section as well to get some discounted breads. In fact, Cerbone's is so good that I didn't know this place was nut-free until I asked my wife why I've never seen anything with chocolate and peanut butter. They also have a limited selection of Italian Ice. This is the only place I've found Italian Ice in Port Chester. The next closest place I know about is Ralph's in White Plains. read more

I was really surprised that there aren't more reviews for this place. Admittedly I was a little hesitant to select this bakery for that exact reason. I had called a few days prior to order a retirement cake for a business event. The staff was real friendly and accommodating to my request for flavor and decorations. I sent over a picture for inspiration and the head baker was able to give me addition suggestions. I am extremely particular when it comes to cakes ( my co-worker much more than myself). We were both very happy with the decorations and the cake itself. The cake wasn't dry and the frosting was the right balance of sweetness. While picking up the cake, both my coworker and opted to buy extra sweet treats. I really enjoyed my black and white cookie and my coworker enjoyed her mini blueberry tart. I was a loyal customer for 20 years until today. I asked them to accommodate a request to put orange frosting (which they regularly have ) on a cupcake so I could help to celebrate the anniversary of the death of a very close friends son. All I asked was for the top of the cupcake be switched from a basketball stitching to a baseball stitching. Again, they have both available. The answer "NO. So much more goes into making these than what you see and I do not want to do it". I flipped at the snippy response and said thank you you have lost my loyalty and my business. I ordered a cake for my daughters 2nd b-day, and based on the pics i saw on their website i thought i'd be getting a standard beautiful cake of theirs, i had my own bubble guppies toppers so i asked for th basics. i chose cerbones bakery mainly because my bb is allergic to peanuts. The girl on the phone assured me the cake would be moist and it WAS NOT , cake was dry and the balloons they decorate on them looked like a 4 yr old did them all one color with all green strings. When i picked up the cake i purchased a few chocolate chip cookies while waiting, and they were horrible!. I should have known then my cake would be horrible as well. I'm surprised to be the first to review this longtime neighborhood business! It. Brings back great childhood memories to come here. I used to love their raisin bread, napoleons, mini meringues with chocolate chips and of course, the Italian ice during the summer months. And the owner (and now her son who is their a lot) has always been friendly...Although almost every other part of Rye Brook, Rye & Port Chester has changed (and gotten fancier, more chain businesses and certainly even more affluent) Cerbones is a gem that has really not changed much- still offering the same quality stuff in the same location. A few weeks ago I bought a strawberry shortcake birthday cake and was told it was freshly made. I pre-ordered the cake. The strawberries in the cake were dried up and moldy. People ate a little of the icing and 90% of cake went into the garbage. Three weeks later we bought some mini pastries from there and they were moldy at the bottom. Don't waste your time and money - many better bakeries around, even stop&shop or acme, or shop rite offer better quality then these guys. read more

The employees of this bakery are so rude. I'd only give one star but the cakes are pretty good. My young niece has a peanut allergy therefore it's important to us to buy a cake that she can eat because she loves birthday cake. Our family has a bunch of birthdays in September & October we were there a few times recently. The first cake I ordered in September, I forgot to add a name to the cake and I called and asked it be added. The girl said that they don't write names on cakes until you come pick them up so she didn't make the change on my order form. She also told me not to worry because she would be there when I picked up my cake and gave me her name. When I went to pick it up another girl came out from the back and showed me the cake with writing on it. I explained what was told to me and asked them if they could add another name. They said they would try but it might take awhile. I said that I spoke to a girl who assured me that they wouldn't write on the cake until I got there and gave the name and she said "yeah that was me." She didn't seem to care at all that she promised me something and didn't follow through. It's writing on a cake, not the end of the world, so I would have been happy with a sincere apology but this girl looked as if I was annoying her. I asked her why I was told one thing and they did another and she shrugged and said "I guess they wrote the names on the cakes today". 20 minutes later the cake came back out looking like crap with the added name shoved in. Another family member ordered a cake 24 hours before it was needed and it was made (a very simple, basic cake). Two weeks later, calling 24 hours before for the same simple cake, the family member was told they couldn't do it and she had to beg for them to do so. This family member didn't realize that the same cake would be available for pickup in the case if she went the next day, something they could have told her! I went in last night for some treats for my niece and the girl wasn't friendly at all. I've never seen such a bunch of unfriendly employees! She rang me up and slapped the bag down so high up on the case I almost couldn't reach it and then turned her back. They are one of the few nut-free bakeries around and they can get away with rudeness and awful customer service because there aren't many other options...but just because you can get away with it doesn't make it right! I hope more nut-free bakeries open up and give them a little competition and force them to be a little kinder to their customers. read more

Never again! Second year in a row that this bakery has botched an order. Last year's cake had to be thrown out because it was DISGUSTINGLY sweet and tasted like chemicals, presumably the buttercream. This year's cupcakes not only weren't what I ordered (they can't follow a picture and direction) but they too tasted disgusting. I am late writing this review. My husband ordered my 40th birthday cake from Cerbone. He asked if they could walk it over to Buddha, as we were having dinner there with a group of people. They said it would be no problem. Needless to say, the cake never made it over to the restaurant (in the same shopping center). When he went in the following day to see what happen, they never apologized and didn't even offer to refund the cake. My husband had to fight with them to get the refund. They have the worst customer service and we will not go there again. All this could have been avoided if they had better customer service. read more
