This review is for NABJJF tournaments that are hosted here throughout the year. Parking is $5. You can prepay or purchase on day of the tournament. There are places to eat within walking distance. We usually eat at Innout next door. There are also vendors that have food near the entrance. These tournaments are pretty good. Usually runs on time, double elimination and they have both gi and nogi. You can purchase VIP mat access as a parent. They allow coaches during matches. They give free rashguards. Much better than the t shirts they used to give away. This is a great tournament to begin your competition journey. Sometimes you get some competitors from Jiujitsu World League and IBJjF here, which means you get to compete against them at a fraction of the cost compared to other tournaments. If you are one of the first 100 people to register, you can do gi and nogi for 79.99 total. That can't be beat as other tournaments cost over a hundred for one division. Spectator fee is $12 on line and $15 at the door. They don't accept cash. Definitely recommend. read more

This review is for the esthetician program services. My friends daughter is a student there. They offer amazing deals on facials. 2 hour European facial for 40 bucks! That is the deal of a lifetime. The instructor is on hand guiding the students. The room is cool and relaxing. It is great to get an amazing deal and support students. Parking is only 3 dollars for a 4 hrs pass. The staff is very nice and profession. They offer other services such as waxing, microdermabrasion and electro pulse therapy too. read more

Just wanna warn everyone, this College pretty strict, daughter was dropped, she missed first day due to car issues

So far so good. Everyone is very helpful in all the departments. The zoom appointments make it easy to get instant feedback from counselors and tutors and the learning environment seems really open and it's easy to participate. Parking "Police" Armador is very unhelpful. I called regarding a ticket I had. He tried telling me details of that were not true when I have detailed and documented paperwork. You're dealing with college students at school not the city. Seriously do better. read more

Update: even now a year later after I actually did graduate I was receiving emails regarding graduation so I can prepare for it then today I received an email that the emails were sent in error because I'm not eligible to graduate. Very inconsistent information and confusing. They're awful! read more

Visited the basketball gym for a game. Cleanliness 5/5 Brightly lit 5/5 Scoreboard visible from everywhere in the gym. 5/5 Crowd 5/5 (weren't too obnoxious, just normal fan chat. I love education, I love some of the professors here, but the affinity I have developed is not greater than the animosity I have come to garner for the administration in charge of this school. The student health service center is just as bipolar as me, the deans of different departments look at you crazy when you speak your mind, they only want students who will fall in line and not question a thing. There are many improvements that can be made in the way they categorize/treat students, with human decency and respect. I felt like my efforts to show a positive attitude and create a positive impact were not appreciated and even frowned upon. The college is good, the classes are alright, but it's the students who vex me. I don't like any of them except maybe this one Asian guy I met in a walking class and then again in an MMA class. I took the class back in February 2022. The instructors were very helpful and nice. They made sure you understood. Didn't just tell you and go. Most of the students in my class had never ridden before at all. They broke everything down step by step. Very easy to follow. My son very much enjoyed it. He did switch to a dirt bike after this bike. He had never rode before. Now he has scheduled an appointment for his M1 written test next week. Cerritos MTC made this so simple and informative. I'm from NC. Never attended this college yet someone stole my identity and illegally used FAFSA to "attend." My issue is what kind of verification are u guys using to see if someone is who they say they are? Especially if u r issuing funds to them. U mean to tell me that it's no safeguards for stuff like this? I'm a disabled veteran and it's entirely to easy to verify my true identity. I'm personally thinking it's a inside job and they r promoting this type of fraud. Dave and skyler were in charge of the performing arts center today for an honor orchestra and band concert. They acted like children when there were no more seats left, being extremely rude to families that couldn't get let inside the auditorium to watch their children or loved ones. Skyler apologized and seemed stressed but Dave wouldn't stop bothering families all throughout the night. He really is a professional ass hole if that's what Cerritos college hired him to be, would love to see him get fired for being a prick, horrible experience would never come here again for a concert. Cerritos College Gymnasium Facility is EXCELLENT. Court side seating is nice. Bleacher seating very comfortable. There are 10 bathroom facilities. 4 large size points of entry and exits. The concessions area is nice size. Fees for eats, drinks, snacks are very inexpensive. Approximately 72 large air conditioning vents, which helps facility feel very airy and comfortable. Thank you Cerritos College for hosting athletic events. Thank you GATORADE for supplying protein bars and drinks for our athletes. The pricing is a lil higher than other facilities; however, well worth it. it's an EXCELLENT facility and free parking! read more

A friend of mine attends this school, she enjoys it, but last year she was really pissed. she had a take a test, and the building where she had to take it in, she said felt like a prison cell. she said the doors were bulletproof and if an emergency were to happen, there isn't an escape plan. What really pissed her off, she had to lock up her belongs in a locker, and someone else held on to the key! so if she needed something from her backpack, she needed to ask for permission to get the key and get something out! like no! when I heard that, that freaked me out, why would they lock up your belongings and then take the key and keep it?! what if there was an emergency? how is she supposed to get her belongings or anything?! she said, they made me take off my Apple Watch! I said for what!? because they were afraid I was gonna be able to access the Internet! first of cannot access the Internet from a smart watch! Like told her to take off her Apple Watch, doesn't have experience with technology, or they have a cell phone, but that's it. It's stupid for staff members to tell someone to take off their smart watch, because they're afraid they're cheat! FYI! Smart watches don't have Siri or website access! if you knew anything about technology, you would know that smart watches cannot access the Internet! Maybe the school needs to update their staff! Again, you cannot access the Internet with an Apple Watch! now! The way my friend described it! It sounds like that staff member needs to retire as well! read more

The various departments that are meant to assist students in pursuing their education do not communicate to each other. I can talk to several employees in one department, such as financial aid, and be told two very different answers. I was assigned 5 counselors for academic advisement but I would usually run into a problem of all of the counselors having a full schedule so I couldn't get an appointment for weeks or months. The Wi-Fi is horrible all over campus so even if you wanted to work on assignments between classes, good luck. The teachers that are hired by Cerritos I have had were amazing, very knowledgeable, they enjoyed teaching their subjects and were always available for any support and encouragement for class or even encouragement for a life event. The part time instructors can give the impression they are there for an extra paycheck so they are not helpful in improving skills of students. There are very limited food options on campus and most are closed by 4 pm so if you come to campus after 3 pm good luck trying to find any building open with drinks,snacks or even school supplies. I would not have my daughter enroll in this college after my experiences. read more

One of the better community colleges I used to attend back in the day. The school needs some updates and renovations as they have been going through it slowly, but I still enjoy the campus itself. It's not incredibly impacted like other community colleges near me and I get the help I need from the teachers and professors. I've found some of my favorite professors at this school who has helped me along my journey throughout my education and did not just stop after my class ended. Not all professors/teachers are great however. Definitely do your research on ratemyprofessor and make the decision on your own. Counseling and admissions and records will always be a wait. And the cafeteria is limited in options. Parking is scarce, so may the odds be forever in your favor. read more

I love this college, its great and supportive and never had any problems at all! until... i met with the Admission and Records Team via zoom. They are so unprofessional and didn't help me with my situation! I was suppose to meet with a staff via zoom but it was a teenage girl who was eating and didn't take my situation seriously. All she told me was "no" to my request without any reasonings. She told me to meet up with a counselor instead but my counselor told me to meet up with them! I decided to give them another chance and this time it was an old man staff and I was so relieved. Until...he was rude! I signed up my son to swimming classes here for the summer for the past three years, he is nine years old now, he loves the classes, his instructors are very nice and patient with him, they encourage the kids very well, they are not that strict on the kids which is great for me, the kids are there to have fun and learn some great ways of how to swim, this really helps my son's self esteem. My son was also taking a math class in preparation for fourth grade, he absolutley loved it and thought his teacher was so cool because he was talking about DC and Marvel super heroes and it made my son feel relatable to his teacher. Bty thank you so much Oscar and Thomas for encouraging Angel in level 3 swimming class! The four star review was because there was no explanation in his report card from swimming as to what he needs to work on in order to move on to level 4 swimming. read more

Believe it or not, Cerritos College has a wonderful campus and vibe here. It one of the best JCs in the border of the Southeast County of Los Angeles. I like it here because they have more programs and classes to choose from than what i had encountered at Citrus College years ago. Great staff and teachers here. Good campus security here since its really not in Cerritos and kind of in a bad neighborhood. But just be careful where you park. Because they give a lot of parking tickets and towing around here. Campus is huge with lots of classes. Great school to attend and you will be happy. read more

Apparently this school is still receiving HEERF(pretty much a tuition relief fund from COVID-19 pandemic). So if you pay your classes with FAFSA aid(that admissions and records Department automatically takes aid from your tuition from FAFSA or from your own pocket. You're getting scammed from the school. The relief fund happens usually couple weeks before enrollment date. I got scammed from it and the lady from the Admissions and Records department says the "Dean and the President are the only ones who have the answers" when HEERF happens according to her. Didn't get her name but it was Female Admissions and Records Department Call was 10:13 am 4/26/24 . If anyone from Administration reads this make sure your staff is trained with better answers. read more

The admissions in this college is ridiculous! I have called them during their summer office hours and I was out on hold for an hour! And still, no one answered! How ridiculous is it when students need your help and they can't reach you within your scheduled hours! Am I currently calling right now to get something fixed on my account and guess What? Only half an hour after their hours stating when they open, I am put on hold again! Admissions is completely unhelpful. Besides the horrible admissions, the DSPS program is the opposite. They are polite and very helpful, and genuinely cared about their students. They answer when they can and are honest with you with when they'll reply to your emails. I love this school. The professors are very nice and caring. My favorite spot to study is the library because is quiet and cool. If I need help finding a book or doing research the librarians are always happy to help. I definitely recommend this college because is a diverse school. Helene Wagner for public speaking and Ms. Bower Torres for philosophy 102 & 106! They have been fun and amazing with their knowledge!! The campus is clean, lots of Latinos but manageable. I went to this College and Graduated with the class of 2000, that was a plan...I wanted that 2000 year to be my year. I got my B. A. in Criminal Justice I was the only one in my whole family who ever went to College. I worked 40 hrs. a week then took 12 units every semester while having a very young son who was so grown up and mature for his young age, I felt good about going to class 3 days a week. I meet the most wonderful professors who most of them have now past away. I was about to go to Cal State Fullerton but my eye sight prevented that from happening for me. I would do anything to be able to go back for just the fact of learning so many new things, I still we should one new thing everyday & I do. One summer my son & I were in the same class and our instructor thought we were sister & brother or Boyfriend & girlfriend.....LOL. They would always tell us no way are you mom & son. I am happy I got my class ring too, who wears those? I have never worn it but it is 14kt. with a pink opal in it. Will give to my future grandbaby. read more

Took the Motorcycle safety course here for 2 days!. What a wonderful experience!. The instructors were pretty detailed, awesome, and patient. After every exercise run you did, if they see fit, they immediately give your pointers to improve. I don't have much to complain, other than getting beat up in the sun from 11am to 4pm for the 2 days. Thats NOT their fault.... read more
