OC's own state university nestled within an area with lots of food to enjoy and places to visit. I had the pleasure of attending here for my post-bacc and had so much to explore around the area. There is a giant park 8 minutes away from campus that is perfect for a picnic, a stroll, or an exercise. I like that this school has more school spirit than some others and they try really hard to spread that Titan Pride with beginning of the semester campus events. Parking has never been a situation for me because of how early my classes were; however, it does get hectic around noon. My experience with the financial aid office as okay. They aren't the fastest and don't even try to call them. They're too busy helping out people in person. You are better off driving back to campus in-person to get assistance with any financial aid problems, which is not ideal if you live 30+ minutes away. read more

If you are transferring from a community college to CSUF, please make sure every transferred course is correctly reflected in your TDA before registering for additional classes. I highly recommend meeting with multiple advisors and keeping written documentation of any guidance you receive. My experience at CSUF was exciting at first, and I was genuinely looking forward to completing my degree. However, I encountered significant issues with the transfer-credit evaluation process that resulted in me taking additional courses that ultimately did not apply toward my degree requirements as expected. On several occasions, I contacted counselors for clarification regarding whether specific community college courses would satisfy CSUF requirements. Unfortunately, I either received no response or inconsistent information. Some transferred courses were accepted, while others were later denied despite my efforts to verify them beforehand. I believe CSUF would greatly benefit from improving communication between advising departments and updating the TDA system to provide clearer, more consistent transfer-credit evaluations. Doing so could help future transfer students avoid unnecessary coursework, additional tuition costs, and delayed graduation timelines. read more

Love csuf! Made so many memories and friends! The campus is very nice and super big. My only issue with this school is THE PARKING!! The parking services are terrible and treat freshman horrible! I got a total of 5 parking tickets and appealed them all and found out I was in the right of way and it was there mistake! Freshman have to park in LOTS8 and have to walk all the way to the dorms which is fine but I don't feel safe at night. There is a shuttle but only from 7pm-2-am. After completing my degree here I can tell you that there is zero ROI on a degree, and unless you have the time and money to spend on getting an MD, it is better to altogether avoid this and other universities. My personal degree was Kinesiology and I felt 0 help and guidance from the "guidance" counselors. After getting my degree still can only get minimum or near minimum wage jobs in my field, IF they are even hiring. Im gonna end up doing a private nursing program because it is one of the only things hiring at a decent wage. The school itself, very shabby for the costs. None of the student services are in the same building, some of the classrooms are extremely old and have poor air conditioning on summer days. Like I said previously I had very little, almost zero help with questions about my future career from the counselors. Parking is crap for how much they charge. A hold will keep you from enrolling in next semester even if your fafsa will cover it. Overall, id say choose a private program, like stanbridge, or if you like labor, something in HVAC or elevator repair. As a recent psychology graduate who was a community college transfer, my academic life prepared me well for immediate admission into graduate school. Many psychology professors are reliable sources; however, the university encourages independent exploration. In my journey, I learned how to be a successful student and immersed myself in social activities, such as clubs and on-campus events (Spring Concert, cultural gatherings, and other ASI events). I participated in research opportunities and attended conferences to be engaged in the psychology community. Good school. Housing is pretty expensive. The humanities department needs to be reviewed though. In my senior year, I did more work for my General Ed. 100 lvl humanities classes than my major 300 and 400 lvl classes.... that says a lot about this department and their view on the importance of GE courses over major courses. When you spend more time doing general education courses instead of your major courses, it makes you wonder if you are getting a good education. read more

They post the wrong textbooks and limited formats in the Titan Shop and when I went to return it they gave me a difficult time. They kept sending me to wrong cashier and left me with a difficult employee who did not help me out even though I tried to stay calmly to fix the issue. They messed with my concentration and changed it for not reason, I did not requested for a change. Some classes are tougher than other classes and it's difficult to understand some professors while lacking the capacity to absorb all the information. No job placement option which is extremely unhelpful. And they don't refund for unused gym pass, even if we don't go there. I kept getting my locker stuck and I feel like someone is harassing me and my locker. They let homeless onto their campus and wonder the library and other areas. It makes me feel unsafe. read more

Sporting fields, tennis courts, pool, weight rooms, food courts, lots of seating areas as well as green belts. Parking is the biggest issue. We went to a basketball game a few months ago, where they played Vermont. The gym was small and comfortable and we had good seats. They atmosphere was rocking and with music playing throughout. The seats were front row and were under $20 each. Snacks, sodas and hot dogs were sold. Good parking right next to the gym and was free on this night. I went to Long Beach State, but Fullerton has it rocking. We will return. read more

This is the worst University in California. The departments barely answer the phone. Most professors are obtaining their assignments OFF Heroes website and the institution is charging over $3.7K a semester. They Do Not Respond to a simple email message! That explains why their acceptance rate is extremely high compared to other universities... Truly regretting for applying to CSUF, instead of accepting admission to UC Davis. read more

So I'm a transfer student and so far not only am I not impressed I'm actively disliking Calstate Fullerton. their portal isn't anywhere near as clear and easy to use as Mount San Antonio's. also anytime I call I can't get through. I don't know how university with more funding and more personnel can't get to the phone but no matter when I call or how long I wait I don't get through so I'm forced to do everything through email or go in person and when I do go in person and ask for help, they're extremely rude and tell me everything's online for example I went to the academic advising for my field kinesiology and the academic advisor basically told me that I was lazy and needed to watch the video as a student with anxiety. I am clearly understanding that there's a video however, I want to make sure the classes I pick are perfectly aligned with my major. I feel that shouldn't be a problem and yet it was. I have not run into anyone here other than their maintenance workers who actually tried to help me. every time I try to get help I'm told like I said that everything's online I would actively dissuade anyone from coming to Cal State Fullerton and if i could go back in time. I would've accepted one of my other offers. read more

I was enrolled in the Crime Intelligence and Analysis Certificate Program. They didn't run this program very well, it was a mess. There was a lot of confusion with the schedule and program itself. After seeking for clarification multiple times via email, I had to call for clarification. The person I spoke with couldn't give me answers to my questions either. I had to reach out to IT department about Duo Authentication. He was extremely rude. I had never spoken with any IT person that was so rude. I was going to tell him what I called in for. He said, WAIT! Wait! Just wait! I told you to wait! So, I stayed quiet and waited. Then he told me why my school email wasn't working. I told him I wasn't calling in about my school email. Anyways, I ended up withdrawing from this program. I could already tell it would be a waste of money!!! read more

I would have given CSUF around two stars for the school's Financial Aide, and Student Business Services since they NEVER pick up their phone, or gets back to the student's email on a timely manner. But, I had to give CSUF a five star due to the beautiful campus, great professors, abundant help from the professors, and the varieties of centers/clubs that helps student achieve their higher education. Also, the main spotlight goes to Derek Mija/Meja who is a staff at the Financial Aide office. Despite talking to over 5 staffs in several departments, Derek was the only one who went out of his ways to do his job and help out a student achieve their dreams and goals. I was very impressed by the way Derek handled a certain situation very professionally, and even followed up with me after promising to follow up in couple of days due to the school being closed during the weekends. Thank you so much Derek, you have just saved a student who is eager to graduate. I won't forget your kindness and will make sure to pass the kindness forward in the future! read more

Instead of refunding it back to me after I requested, they said I was going to receive it back once financial aid gets disbursed. THIS SCHOOL IS REALLY BAD! They take advantage of the students and their parents finances. The education quality is high school level with CSUF edition textbooks very poorly written with chapters skipping. Everything on campus is overpriced and this is planned out to make a lot of profit off of the students. They control students with grades and college fees and give too much power to the teachers (some were the worst of all time and I had one that was racist). To be honest, It is slavery what they practice. I attended other colleges and universities and I have to say this institution was the worst. What a horrifying and frantic experience we had with the Admissions and Records department! My daughter was transferring to Cal-State Fullerton from Cal-State Northridge and received an acceptance letter from Cal-State Fullerton. She even went to the orientation yesterday and was able to register for all of her classes. This morning, the Admissions and Records department removed all of her classes from the portal with no explanation. It sent her into a frenzy, so she called the office to inquire about it and the reason for it. The person on the phone has the audacity to be rude to her when it was their department that messed up. She told my daughter that she was short 3 credits and that is why the admissions were retracted. I'm so baffled as to why they sent out an acceptance letter without thoroughly going through the requirements? It's because the department is INCOMPETENT!!! The person on the phone was trying to dismiss her and will not help her or give her any option on how to deal with this situation until she got me on the phone. My daughter will not be dismissed in the accounts of their mistake. She will not let me speak to the evaluator until I grilled her and grilled her. I could care less about her feelings, she didn't care about anyone. She would easily dismiss someone knowing that their department made that mistake. I'm so sure that other students had probably experienced the same thing but no one can step in for them. Shame on these people for doing that! I was finally patched through the evaluator and received a thorough guidance of what to do next. My daughter and I were confident with the evaluator's advice and we left it at that. I don't normally get involved in my daughter's affairs but this is pretty important. Luckily, she did not withdraw from Cal-State Northridge yet and is still able to get classes. Although, we went through an immense frustration to get to the bottom of this and were able to get good advice to reapply at CSUF, I don't think she will be coming to this school in spring after all when she transfers back to Orange County. Word of advice to the people who answer the phone, watch your tone! You will get someone that will not have a problem putting you back in your place. read more

There is a chaos among the people left to watch their family member . People are Walking in front and all different directions and good luck trying to see your graduate ! They have a great Law Enforcement program for students interested in Law Enforcement. Yeah college can be expensive with all of the books and classes you pay for along with tuition. I graduated from CSUF in 2016 with my degree in Philosophy. I feel like I received a world class education from here, no complaints about my undergrad. My complaint is about CSUF's Teacher Education program. During their recruitment process they were not transparent about how the program worked. They only advertise enough to entice people to apply, but when you became a student, the rules on student teaching were ridiculous. I enrolled in the Elementary program. I only wanted to teach specific grades. However, you must teach a grade both in upper and lower separated by at least 2 grade levels. They placed me in Irvine when I lived around the corner from CSU Fullerton. I had to drop anyways because my car broke down anyways. But then I wanted to do the HS credential program. I went to an orientation and asked them if I could be a philosophy major and teach English. They said it was perfectly fine. I spent over a year paying and taking the pre-reqs, only to apply and get rejected because I was a non-English major. Fortunately I got my money refunded but I spent a lot of time preparing for the program. I could have gone to National University had it not been for my loyalty to CSUF. I recommend National to anyone in the area since it doesn't require a face to face commitment and to take off a year from work to do. CSUF Education Department is not transparent, they will loop you into a bullshit situation that you have little say in although you are paying your precious time and money for the program. read more

Unfortunately, it's a very disorganized school. Probably due to having high volume of student workers in many areas where they should have real employees. When I needed help for any issue they often told me "there's nothing we can do". So I end up doing my investigation to seek out actual faculty to get answer. I could always find people to get to the point of things cuz I am a resourceful person but if you are lazy this is not a school for you. Tip 1. When sending in a time sensitive important document I highly recommend CC many people for evidence otherwise they forget to process and put you through hell to have them fix it. They truly do not care and will focus on covering their own butt than get to the truth. I noticed people are excusing CSUF's lack of parking because it is commuting school. CSULB is commuting school as well but they have parking and permit is $100 less of CSUF. Like others wrote, academic counselors do not have students' best interest in mind. My friend wanted to take bio class he needed but his counselor added him in class he didn't need just because the class he needed was full. WTF They are more into international students. They had to pay a lot more money to attend CSUF so they are more interested in serving international students. It's a business. They have spring concert every year which can be good. However, their main artists didn't show up. From ticket sales to event organization - a mess. As a student organization we can reserve TSU a year and a half ahead. We need to do this if we want to reserve the date we want BUT they can change if they double book with ASI event. SO WHAT'S THE POINT OF "RESERVATION"?! Somebody mentioned that the campus looked like a resort. I would say it is more like a swap meet. Non academic event happens almost every weekend (sometime on week days and nights). Free foods and promotional items-- Personally I would rather have tuition or parking fee reduced. I had to work with accounting office for my organization. They lost our money and couldn't figure out what had happened to it for entier semester!! We are not talking few bucks. They lost $5000+!! In the end, we found out that the information desk transfer money but the accounting office couldn't find the notification. I got more complain but don't have time to list all. This was my favorite campus ever. I was one of the first students to set foot here around 2006 and was somewhat of a secret campus. I could leave work at 3:30 from Orange, drive here, find a VIP parking spot and be in class by 4:00pm. They only offered certain classes at the time and was pretty much a ghost town. Parking was easy like pumpkin pie. But fast forward to around 2008 when I graduated and the campus was getting crowed. I guess the cats out of the bag, and this was where one should take classes. They was a computer lab where j wrote a majority of my reports and a small snack bar that had Starbucks coffee. This verses Fullerton? I say go to Irvine. Go Titans. I MISS YOU! ! read more

Within my major most of the professors are fantastic, I really have grown to love a lot of them. Not sure about other departments. Frankly, they are the only reason this University is getting three star rating, because the negatives are extensive with this place. Oh, before I forget, the gym is pretty solid so that helps too. Okay, parking is a joke, that word doesn't even exist in this school's vocabulary. I literally can't tell you how many times I have waited for a parking spot for an hour or more. There are so many students and so little parking spaces. I recommend getting classes only two days a week and then using The Marriott's parking structure which is $5 per day. By next semester even a three or four day per week class schedule might work because the CSUF "parking" pass keeps jacking up in price. Was $220 last semester, by parking at The Marriott I paid (16 weeks x 2 visits per week at $5 a visit = $160) $160. Cheaper, smarter, no waiting. Why don't more people do this? Also, I have had a few bad teachers, and when I say bad I don't mean like manageable bad I mean like they ruined my GPA bad. My friend has had similar experiences as well. Use ratemyprofessor.com, it helps a ton! I'll be done here this summer I'm taking my last few classes to obtain my BA, years ago when I registered here I had countless problems. Records and Administration was not helpful at all, had so much useless problems about receiving my transcripts from community college and so many other things. I remember I had to call them everyday until finally they mysteriously found my transcripts somewhere... Ended up having to register for classes late and schedule was a disaster. Nice campus, some great professors, but overall the bad experiences here greatly outweigh the positive ones. If wasn't for professors I'd give this University one or two stars. Going to this campus was a complete waste of time and money. I don't even know where to start; that's how bad it is. In the two years that I've attended CSUF, I have been met with constant disappointment from faculty, the environment, and the knowledge that I was progressing at a level that will not get me hired in my field of interest. To elaborate, I'm in the Computer Animation and Game Art concentration which is run by two individuals (Andy and Carol). That's it; two people for the thousands of students that are fighting to become professional artists. And due to the understaffing, I have never once been able to meet with my counselor. This is critical because, in the art department, they put a hold on your registration date every semester until you receive academic advising. So BASICALLY, you can't take classes until either Andy or Carol decides you're worth their attention. I should also note that you will have to submit a portfolio to be accepted into a concentration and you only have two opportunities to be accepted. If you are denied both times, you won't be able to apply again. Which might actually be a good thing. The concentrations require another year's worth of classes. Why? Because they want to farm as much money out of you as possible. The extra year is pretty much all upper-division electives. At first, I was excited that I got to take whatever classes I was interested in; but that was before I knew I wouldn't be learning anything. Most of the professors are people who were successful in the 80's and no longer work in the industry. The curriculum is dated and they don't offer in-depth classes for digital art. I would describe them as a synopsis of the software with no real application. I once had a professor hand out a syllabus that was completely illegible. I'm not talking illegible words; I'm talking like "assignment s@#&*% SFJsjiew $#)%" and then told the students they would need to refer to the syllabus for all future due dates. You will be teaching yourself the entire way through and it will be an uphill battle. The only professors who were worth noting are the "part-time" faculty such as Brian Kennon and Christian Gonzalez. These two are the saving grace of the entire program and I thank them for their efforts. The buildings are dated as well. The outside areas are beautifully decorated and cared for but when you walk inside a building and it's like it hasn't been touched in over a decade. All of the computers for the art department are Macs which is frustrating because pretty much no one uses Macs for game art or animation. Also, none of the professors use Macs so you will frequently see them struggling for 30+ minutes just to set up their lecture. I really don't understand why they insist on using them if neither the faculty nor students enjoy them. It's not even cost-effective. I am finally at the point where it's time for me to graduate and once again I am met with constant headaches. First of all, you're not going to know when you're about to graduate because you have to actually be able to talk to your counselor to understand the TDA. Second of all, you have to schedule a grad check which is surprisingly more impossible than meeting your counselor because the system doesn't even have an option to set up this appointment. I would not recommend this school to anyone. I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. What I WOULD recommend to all people aspiring to be digital artists, is to attend the Fullerton community college and say "f*** the bachelors". I know that sounds contradictory but game studios genuinely do not care about your degree, they care about your ability as an artist. The girls who took classes with me at the JC and didn't transfer over to CSUF, now work at Pixar. That alone should tell you about the quality of the education they received. The faculty at Fullerton JC are some of the most dedicated individuals I have ever met. The campus is clean, up to date, it's competitive, and it's not even a third of the cost. There are a lot of negative reviews based on things that you will experience at any college. Yes, parking is hard. Is it more difficult than other schools? Probably. Is it a problem all colleges have? Absolutely. CSUF is tucked into a suburban neighborhood, making expansion difficult. Our current President, however, truly cares about this campus and its students. Past presidents didn't care, so he has a lot of cleaning up to do, and he's done a lot in his first two years already. I graduated with a BS in Biological Science. I had exceptional professors, who genuinely cared about their students. Friends who went to UCs hardly had contact with their professors in their 300+ person lectures. I have personal relationships with many of my professors, who were extremely understanding when personal issues came up. I found plenty of programs to take part in. Another reason many reviews are negative is commuter students don't try to get involved. ASI offers a ton of events, there are over 200 student orgs, and you can fairly easily start your own club (I did). Your college experience is what you put into it. If you try, CSUF will provide you a good education, helpful professors, opportunities for growth, and more. The only thing we lack is sports teams lol but our baseball and basketball teams are pretty good and the games are fun with friends! read more
