Having so much fun making connections at the career fair!
    Idah C.

Thanks to NPC I have had the option to attend a virtual radiology summit today! - How have events like this provided by Career Services been useful to you?: These events are so insightful for the career that I am working towards and help me feel more prepared and informed entering the clinical environment! - How can students preparing for careers in imaging contribute to the future of the profession? I have learned so much about the barriers that our healthcare systems face regarding being able to secure radiology care for our aging population. -- I believe this has inspired me to learn to be a dedicated technologist that provides the best care. I think we should all focus on being the best students we can be! - What message from this session inspired or motivated you the most? 'Turn barrier into opportunity' And 'Imaging is everything' -- What was the most valuable session you attended and why? I particularly enjoyed Session 5 as it is a little bit more personal!: The Imaging workforce pipeline: Where the next generation of technologists will come from - How will this summit help you prepare for your future career in healthcare? Connecting with peers, learning about different pathways and understanding different perspectives about the possible future of radiology offers great insight for me to further my career!

I had an amazing time at the society of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging conference in Los Angeles this past weekend. I attended so many amazing sessions and learned so much. It was incredible to see all of the new software, isotopes, treatments and scanners and meet with the professionals showcasing them. The networking at this event was unmatched. A big shoutout to NP college for giving students like me the opportunity to meet professionals working in the field and network at events like these. Being able to do my classes online has been a huge help in managing a work life school balance. It's so convenient to be able to do my classes at home. I love being at a school where the professors really care about their students and are passionate about what they do. Dr. Charles Glover is one of those professors you can tell how passionate he is about Nuclear Medicine and how much he loves teaching and is always there to help us and wants us to ask questions. He will take the extra time you need if you fall behind or you're not understanding a concept. That means so much to the students.

This weekends SNMMI annual meeting was amazing!!! There were so many opportunities to talk to people from every aspect of the field as well as an abundance of learning opportunities I'm so happy o went and will be returning next year!!

I enjoyed attending the SNMMI seminar and gaining insight into the latest advancements in nuclear medicine. Speaking with vendors and professionals in the field was a valuable learning experience, and I left with a greater understanding of current technologies and industry trends.

I attended the virtual radfireside summit on 03/18/26 and events like the radfireside provided by career services have been useful to me because we get to hear other technologists experiences when it comes to clinicals and career pathways. I like how events like radFireside explain about leadership and cross training to other radiology modalities. It was nice seeing a speaker from RadNet share about personal experience and cross training because I am currently doing my clinical rotation with RadNet -Jocelyn Ortiz

Attending the Radfireside Virtual Experience on March 18, 2026, really opened my eyes to the future of the imaging field. It helped me understand the importance of staying prepared and passionate as I continue my journey in radiology. Connecting with others and hearing different perspectives gave me a better idea of what to expect in the real world and reminded me that even as a student, I'm already part of that future. I also really enjoyed listening to Clifondra Brown--she is a very powerful speaker and her message was inspiring. It was also great hearing Marcelene and Derek speak about their experiences as an R.P.A. and R.R.A. They highlighted how important Radiologist Assistants are and how much support they provide to radiologists, which gave me a deeper appreciation for the role. This experience pushed me to stay focused, keep learning, and continue working toward making a positive difference in healthcare. Thank you NPC for giving us this opportunity to network with other people in the imaging field

I attended the Workforce Pipelines for Medical Imaging Virtual Summit presented by Cliffondra Brown from RadNet and I learned that one of the biggest challenges imaging organizations face is staffing shortages caused by a gap between supply and demand. Many skilled technologists are retiring faster than new ones are entering the field, while an aging population is increasing the need for care. In addition, expanded access to preventive services and growing demand for imaging have led to very high vacancy rates, which puts even more strain on the workforce. This was a valuable session for me since It provided clear insight into current workforce shortages and the growing demand in imaging, helping me better understand real challenges in the field and it reassured me that I am choosing the correct career path to pursue. This summit helped me gain a deeper understanding of industry trends, workforce needs, and patient care demands. It has better prepared me to enter the healthcare field with awareness of current challenges and the importance of adaptability and continuous learning.

Yesterday I attended a virtual session and events like these provided by career services have provided me with insight on different perspectives about the field. I think it's important to know how imaging is from people who live in a variety of states. Some things said in the meeting today were about short staffing due to people retiring and not enough people entering the field. My first clinical site was at a radnet and something that has always stood out to me is the cross training opportunities that was also mentioned in this meeting. There is always opportunity there for techs to venture out into different modalities. Students preparing for careers in imaging contribute to the future profession because we ARE the future. In this generation and economy while achieving our careers will only make us stronger techs for this field. What stood out to me today is how all these different people in imaging modalities speak so highly about the profession and it makes me feel like I made the right choice. This summit will help me prepare for the future by having a better understanding on the opportunities in this field. Also seeing the plans that people have for pushing to start up more mobile radiography to reach rural areas is a game changer. Having a shortage of techs because many retirements opens up my eyes on how this field truly is rewarding and how I may one day retire in this field of imaging.

Great networking event! Super organized and friendly atmosphere. I left with useful advice from future employers

Today I attended the job fair here at NPC and had an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to meet many new recruiters, learn about different facilities, and explore what each one has to offer. Marissa, my coordinator and mentor, was incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. Sergio was also a huge help in making sure I had printed copies of my resume and certifications ready to present to recruiters. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to network, connect, and put myself out there as a soon-to-be graduate in ultrasound. It was a great stepping stone to get my name out there, build confidence, and advocate for myself as I prepare to start my career.

Community college is supposed to be accessible to the general public. Although LBCC is a public…read moreschool, the administration makes it just about as difficult and vague and tedious of a process as possible. Phone wait times are cuh-raaaaaay-ZEE. Bunnies. Bunnies. BUNNIES. Everywhere, all the time, and they're fat and imposing and not skittish at all. You WILL be having to move out of their way, because they won't move out of yours. This has been going on for years and years and is sort of a charming part of LBCC. There are just as many bunnies as students on campus at any given moment, and it's comical. Social life and opportunities on-campus are also a plus. In general, the culture here is very chill, very live-and-let-live. There are constantly scouting events, some subtle and some not, so if you have any desire to be on a t.v. show or in a movie, or a part of some experiment or prank or whatever, you don't have to look very hard...it'll be just as likely that you'll get approached first. Parking lots (of which there are several, including a five-story complex), on top of the fact that you have to pay for a new sticker every semester, are ill-equipped to handle the volume of cars that LBCC needs to host. In addition to having to leave wiggle room for everyday traffic, I vividly remember having to leave additional room on top of that for the parking lot circling. The one great thing this school had going for it was/is a big handful of the instructors. I had a few that made a positive, lifelong impression on me, and I'm grateful for that. Extra shoutouts to Lauren Dees. Her drawing class was AMAZING!

Having recently graduated from AUHS School of Nursing, I feel compelled to share my experience to…read morehelp inform prospective students and their families. I entered the program with a strong desire to learn and serve as a nurse. Instead, I encountered disorganization, mismanagement, and repeated unprofessional and sometimes retaliatory behavior from leadership. These were not isolated events, but part of a recurring, harmful culture that prevents student success. 1. Clinical Hours: Disorganized and Incomplete During our pediatric rotation, AUHS initially failed to provide the 120 required clinical hours. When I asked what would happen if we didn't meet the requirement due to their error, we were told we would have to retake the course. The hours were eventually made up but in a rushed and chaotic way that prioritized survival over education. 2. Retaliation: Punished for Raising Concerns Students who voiced concerns about scheduling were met with hostility. Marilyn Uvero (Provost) interrupted lecture to accuse the class of being "ungrateful." I was given a formal reprimand for respectfully raising concerns in a private meeting. That same day, AUHS added class days without the legally required student consent under CA Ed Code §94898. 3. Dismissed Complaints: No Accountability One clinical instructor canceled sessions with no makeup plan. When reported, including complaints from students and hospital staff, leadership denied the issues and kept the instructor in place. 4. Unsafe Clinical Environment We submitted a formal letter regarding misconduct by Professor Denise Waller. She sent students home for rules never communicated, humiliated students in front of staff, entered a locked psych unit without clearance, and physically grabbed a student's badge. AUHS policy defines this as harassment. No action was taken. 5. Communication Failures Last-minute changes and ignored emails were constant. One clinical day was "likely" moved to Saturday, but no confirmation was ever given. Even getting a bootcamp time required escalating to senior staff after several emails went unanswered. 6. False Advertising: Facilities Not Delivered AUHS promoted a new simulation lab in tours that influenced enrollment decisions. We never used it. Instead, we sat on the floor in crowded rooms and struggled to hear instructors due to faulty equipment. 7. Toxic Culture The former dean was fired early in the program. When students asked what to do, a faculty member said, "Run." Another instructor resigned mid-term due to the abusive behavior of Maria Shearing, Director of Clinicals. Students have been removed from clinicals without cause and told to pay $1,200 to make it up. Most stay silent out of fear. 8. Broken Promises: Tuition Rebate Withheld AUHS promised a $1,000 rebate for passing the NCLEX on the first try, to be issued the Friday of the first week of the next quarter. It has been over three weeks with no update. Multiple students asked, but the school has provided no answers. Some staff care, but they are the exception. AUHS offers no meaningful student support. It often feels hostile, punitive, and indifferent to the chaos it creates. This goes beyond poor organization and at times seems deliberately obstructive. I strongly advise against attending AUHS. If you do enroll, prepare to sacrifice your job, family time, and mental health. The school will not respect your time, concerns, or dignity. Nursing school should be hard because of the content, not because of the school itself. It should also be fair, professional, and focused on growth. AUHS fails across the board.
