It has changed a lot since then but still has most of its 20th century charm. I remember spotting TV actors very often when we'd be there in the 1960s. I looked in just about every store. There's lots of fresh (and exotic) produce. There's a French store, meat market, empanada store, souvenir store and even an old fashioned camera (with film) store. My favorites, as always, are the baked goods and candy. And I saw a $200 jar of honey! Literally something for everyone. There's a noodle place I'm gonna try next time for sure. I started out at DuPars for a short stack of their famous pancakes and life will never be the same! In LA, parking is hard to find and expensive! But here the first 90 minutes are free if you get validated. I love this market. And I cannot wait to return. When you're in Los Angeles, you should stop in.

I ordered a stick of grape tanghulu from one of the vendors which happened to be a kid and their grandmother. Other stalls included artwork, cute plushies, and other knickknacks. Some of the B&M shops along the alley were also opened during this hour. Around 7pm it was pretty lively, though after heading to another location and coming back around 10pm, the market does quiet down a fair bit. That said it's worth coming by for great Thai cuisine.

FilLed Market is short for Filipino-Led Market that was started during the Covid Pandemic to provide space to Filipino vendors. Located in the Manila District parking lot on 7th Street, it's now held on Saturdays from about 11 am to 4 pm. Before Smorgasbord opened again this summer, FilLed Market used to be on Sundays. I have never checked out Smorgasbord, but family and friends have described the atmosphere as similar to 626 Night Market, so if you want a more laid-back and manageable hang out place, check out FilLed Market! FilLed Market looked really tiny when I first got there, but I found a pretty good selection of food to choose from once I got the chance to walk around and check out the food vendors. Definitely loved the delicious Filipino BBQ and shrimps by Taste of the Pacific as well as the drinks from Tim's Thai Tea. Also got the chance to try the oysters and crab from Faded Crab as well as the flavored Chicharon from Donia Begonia Kitchen. Make a point of going with a group of family and friends to be able to sample as many of the food choices as possible. And it's not just food at FilLed Market... you can definitely find one of a kind unique Filipino-inspired gifts, from handmade jewelry to Filipino books and games to candles in a Spam container from various vendors such as Para Sa 'Yo (translated "For You") and Manila Candle. Iced coffee at Tim's Thai Tea, a bunch of vendors selling items, liempo & pork belly from Lolo's, the Ube Pie (a MUST get) & a Ube sticky bun from Baking with Ish...everything was so darn awesome. And the DJ pumping 2000s hip hop!? I was down with it and had a hard time resisting singing & rapping along. The only critique is they needed a bit more seating. People were vulturing seats and I saw a lot of people (including me & my friend) take their food to their car to eat. Parking can be hard to find but we found a lot just a block away for $5.
