After a bit of a debacle with a contractor I returned to the excellence of CertaPro painters to finish my home. The quality of their work is top tier, all for a reasonable price! I found in trying to save a few dollars through my contractor I actually spent more in time, money& frustration, cleaning up shoddy work than had I simply gone with the experts at CertaPro from jump. This was perfect timing for me to match up my back exterior to the front entry and have 'em Paint them Pink! Daniel was a top notch perfectionist, professional and personable. We were looking for house painters, and a real estate agent friend recommended CertaPro, so we decided to give them a try. First, we spoke with Matthew to discuss the scope of work and ask questions. He walked us through the process, provided an estimate, and was flexible in matching other estimates we received for comparable work. Matthew was kind, funny, and knowledgeable, and he even helped us choose a new color scheme for the house. We weren't sure what direction to go in if we didn't stick with the same color, but he had great recommendations, and we were very happy with the final result. After finalizing the estimate, the team maintained great communication and followed through on everything as promised. Once the job was finished, we did a walk-through, and the person inspecting the work pointed out small details I hadn't even noticed that needed to be fixed. I really appreciate that kind of honesty. The team promptly returned to address those minor touch-ups--things that are almost inevitable in a large job, like a few missed spots behind a bush under a window. They got the job done... barely. I got the distinct feeling the paint crew were first-time brush holders. I expected them to remove the wall plates *which they did not* until we requested it. There are some blank patches where you can see the old paint smiling through and some of our ceiling lines are crooked. UPDATE!!! 7/20/18 Brian came to the house and looked at the work done. He agreed that they definitely needed to make it right. Miguel can't and he touched up the cabinets and trim work. We had a major remodel project on a rather large home in Austin done. We contracted the painting out to CertaPro. Our project included walls, trim and cabinetry. The team that painted was fine- friendly. The foreman Nathan was a very easy person to work with. We had a good experience during the project as far as customer service. However, it's been six months since our completion and we have serious issues with paint peeling on our cabinets and doors. Something has gone very wrong. I can literally scrape paint off with my finger nail!!! If you bump a cabinet door- it's game over. My husband has called them to try and address the issue but we have not had a phone call back yet. We've got a wonderful house. It's 20 years old. And it was last painted about 10 years ago. It was time for a facelift. I did what I do with a lot of services. I checked for Yelp reviews for a reputable paint contractor. I chose three companies that had very good reviews. Contacted them and got quotes. All three responded. Certapro was the first to respond and had the best estimate. They worked with me to calendar the job. I got a call several days before the scheduled start to confirm the sequence. Just as promised, the crew showed up to start painting the exterior. Daniel, the supervisor and I reviewed the job and they started that morning. One day of prep and the next day to paint and that part of the job was completed. As expected, the interior crew came in the next day and got right to work. William, supervisor of this group had them well organized and the team got right to work. They completed the interior in three days. When both groups were done all areas were cleaned up and our house looked great. I am happy to recommend CertaPro Painters Austin to anyone. They came in with an estimate of 4 days to finish my home. One day before coming to the home they mentioned they would send me a larger crew. I see 7 people in my home and they were all rushing to get things done. They ordered too much paint. They did not prep walls, caulk gaps, when I asked them to fix imperfections the head painter Nacho mentioned he does not do texture all he does is paint. I asked them to call supervisor, the supervisor is telling we will charge extra and this crew of 7 people does not do texture or fixing any imperfections. I asked them to fix the walls, the company walked away from job. I can list pictures of the damage they have done to my expensive home. Be aware of this company and the quality. I've used CertaPro exclusively to do interior and exterior paint jobs on my house since 2010. They painted the exterior of my house in 2010, and they just finished painting it again this past week (2023). The same CertaPro reps have been with the company a long time. They produce detailed quotes that make it very clear what they will deliver, and they have always delivered what they promise. They work with a variety of sub-contractors, so if one sub-contractor does not deliver as expected, they will find another to make it right. After collecting three quotes for service I selected CertaPro to paint the interior of my home, walls and ceilings. I provided paint color selection for all walls and ceilings. My selection process was based on the following criteria: 1) cost; 2) reputation; 3) consideration of my home during the process; and 4) timing. CertaPro was the low bid. The first issue was the total lack of regard for my home and possessions. Every room in the home was simultaneously compromised and the painters would attempt to leave in the evening with the kitchen sink, master bed and living room couch draped with drop clothes. In the process dishes stored in my pantry were broken. This was odd, because my pantry was not being painted. When I reported this to CertaPro the painter lost his temper and threatened to quit. Perhaps even more disturbing is the process by which CertaPro "quotes" a job. Once CertaPro was awarded the job and was in my house painting, the salesperson kept increasing the cost, sending me multiple more expensive "quotes". This, despite the fact that nothing in the original scope of work changed throughout the project. In the end CertaPro was not the low bid, and would not have been awarded the job. The quality of work was poor. The original painting team told me it was the best they could do due to the underlying work surface. Moreover, the original team of painters did not replace any of the outlet covers, they reinstalled window coverings backward and attempted to leave the job with the furniture in the middle of the rooms. CertaPro acknowledged their poor performance and made some attempt to rectify. They gave me a gift certificate to cover my broken property. They sent in a second team of good painters to correct the poor quality job the first team left behind. It turned out that work surface did indeed take a coat of paint well. This dragged out the paint project to nine days. I paid CertaPro based on what I believed was the final increased quote and hoped to put the whole ugly experience behind me. And then I got another bill. When I questioned the bill the Sales Manager sent me an unpleasant note explaining the CertaPro "ate 90% of the cost", and explaining that the firm believed they had done all they could. In my opinion this email and the Sales Manager's frustration would have been more aptly directed at the sales representative who improperly quoted the job and the team of painters who poorly executed the job. The Sales Manager further encouraged me to not share this experience publicly as it would damage their reputation. I hope that sharing this very unpleasant experience will prevent someone else from awarding a low bid to this company. My experience is that they do not stand by their original bid, they show a lack of respect for the client's home, and they execute a poor quality finished product. read more

CertaPro is really hit or miss on what they deliver. The work they did on our house took a lot more micromanagement than I would have expected. Personnel: The designer was fantastic 10/10. Sales person: 5/10. Was confusing on the varying different types of paint and the sheen. I actually didn't have it confirmed what type of sheen was being used till about a week before the job started. He was responsive when I called to ask things so would give him points for that. Project Manager: 1/10. This guy just blankly stared at you when you would ask questions or raise concerns. The crew left razor blades scattered around my house and I never heard "I'm sorry" or anything empathetic from him. Every little thing felt like an inconvenience to him. Project crew 1/10: The project supervisor was personable, I'll give him points for that. Nicest person to work with outside of the designer. But the crew was sloppy, didn't follow basic directions, and had a general lack of respect for someone else's property. Project 2/10: The project was to repaint the entire interior of my house. Was framed that the crew would move the big stuff and I would only need to move small stuff off the wall. It also said in the original paperwork that they would work with me on what rooms to do when. First crew showed up and couldn't move the furniture, then the project manager told me that I needed to move stuff. That usually the house is 100% ready when they start. Explained given we live and work here we would have to do it room by room as we go. Despite sending a crew too small, we landed on doing the work later in the week, with half the house one day and the second half another day. So I prepped half the house as planned, 1/2 at a time. Day of, they try to do the whole house in a single day and haphazardly move stuff without talking to me about it. They got paint on personal effects, broke a clock, and broke and lost outlet plates. Since they rushed to get it all done in a day, they got paint on a ceiling, tub, toilet, door, cabinets, basically mess in every room. They then didn't have any rhyme or reason to when they took off outlet covers and when they taped them. When they removed tape it then created more touch up needs. All in all, it took two days of touchups and cleanup to fix all the sloppy mistakes. If they would have stuck to the original plan and did half of the house at a time, it would have been more time spent doing it right instead of going through it all with a fine tooth comb calling everything out. It was literally hours of my time spent walking through every detail of every room finding sloppy rushed work. They were receptive to fixing things I called out, there was just so many sloppy mistakes that they kept forgetting the items I called out. Also if they stuck to the plan, I wouldn't of had to spend a night myself cleaning up enough of the house to be able to live in it. Since they decided to rush to do the whole thing, they just left the house in disarray overnight. Overall, one of the most stressful contractor experiences I've ever had. read more

Unable to give negative star or I would. Overall 3 day project took 3.5 weeks and still does not look good. My project was popcorn removal, light texture and paint. First crew sent out had obviously never done this before. Was suppose to take 3 days on day 4 they left. The crew had to borrow supplies from us just to get some of the work done. I called Jordan and asked to have someone come out and walk the project with me. I wanted to know if this is the type of work they wanted their name associated with. After looking at work Brian agreed it was terrible and they would not want CertaPro name associated with it. Brian told me I would get a call by COB with schedule of when new crew would be out. But it would probably take a day or to to get the crew out. No call. Next day Husband comes home around 8:30am after dropping kids off at school to a drive way full of workers. I get a call from Brian apologizing. He thought Jordan was supposed to call me and Jordan thought he was supposed to call me. This was the 2nd time they blamed each other for communication issues. Husband had to rearrange schedule so he could be home. Second crew spent 3 days on site. They did a better job but still not great but after not having access to bathrooms and bedrooms for 2 weeks I was ok with it. Crew did a poor job of clean up and took my hand vacuum that they had to borrow with them. They also left no touch up paint. Next week paint on ceiling in master bath and bedroom starts cracking and texture comes off in a couple of spots. Again Brain comes out looks at issues and agrees to send out Crew #3. Crew #3 is not a subcontractor and is an expert. I was told 1-2 days max to complete the work. William is in charge of Crew#3. He agrees that previous work was subpar and recommended new type of paint for bathroom. 2 days turned in to 4 . William never showed up on time , sometime he would call to tell us other times he was just a no show. My husband was basically held hostage in our house while he waited for William to show up. Then on last day William send someone else in his place. Guy paints then leaves. No clean up at all. I reached out to William and surprise surprise there was a miscommunication on his end. William will be over to clean up and take bags of trash with him in an hour. I also point out to William that their is still an area missing texture. He went to his truck and did not have what he need to finish job so he would have to come back next week. That is when I requested a refund. Jordan generously offer me 10% back on a $6,000 project and acted like she was doing me a favor. I have nothing positive to say about this experience and would not recommend this company. read more

I've revised my appraisal based on a couple of things. First, the negatives I mentioned in my original review really merit less than 4 stars. Next, 3 years after the original job some paint started peeling, because I can see that they didn't prime the bare wood. You *always* prime bare wood, exactly for this reason: If you don't, the paint will start peeling after a few years. Even the cheapest painter (and these guys weren't cheap) should know to prime first. read more

They arrived on time, thoroughly reviewed exactly what was to be painted, were very friendly and efficient and finished well within the time frame initially indicated. The day before, we received the work order in writing to sign electronically and William called to go over what they were going to be doing today. There were no surprises. They moved the furniture, did a great job painting, and moved everything back into place! Great service all the way around! I own a restaurant that I closed early in order to have our painting job done. Was called by the company early in the day to confirm painter would come by to get paint sample. When I showed up at 6:30pm, no one was there yet. Waited till 7 before I called to see where the painter was. Was told he would check and call me back. Called back and said flippantly that his guy wasn't coming. After me explaining that I closed early and had removed everything for the job he said," I dont think I can't get anyone and the paint store is closed anyway. I recently managed a whole house remodel project for the owner - after a water damage/interior flood problem. Two contractors were involved, one that handled the insured damage area and one to handle the non-insurance part of the project. Certapro handled the latter and did a great job on the interior. Matt was the estimator and was exceptional to work with. In addition to part of the interior, the owner elected to repaint the entire exterior, which entailed replacing rotten siding in back, rebuilding the entire chimney casing, and some additional replacement of animal chewed exterior wood. They showed up on time, finished on time and on budget. Highest marks. I also have had recent experience with them on another interior job, and it was similarly an A+ experience. When we decided to use CertaPro Painters for our brand new home they promised us two things: great communication regarding the project and cleanliness. They could not have undelivered more if they tried. We had our home painted the week of May 10th and there are still spots that need to be touched up but we will be doing those ourselves because we are sick of dealing with them. However we would love an explanation on why things went so wrong. My partner and I went out of town for the week of the painting to give them better access to our brand new home. We thought that getting out of their way would make the project go smoother. They promised a progress report everyday but we found ourselves in a position where we were the ones calling everyday to find out how things were going. On the last day we were told that the painting was finished by two different people and that we could come back home to take a look at our freshly painted house. We drove the 3 hours from Houston back to Austin, excited to see our new walls and kitchen cabinet colors. Even though we had been told that the project was completely finished it was far from it. We came home to an active worksite, tarps on our furniture, paint cans, ladders, and trash all over our home, our kitchen completely dismantled. We called our point of contact Jordan in the office and within an hour or so someone came to our home to "clean up". After one guy spent an hour or so removing tape and plastic sheets from our walls and picking up the mess they had made, my partner and I spent the rest of the night and next day cleaning. There was fast food trash left in our kitchen and in our yard, I cleaned pee off of our toilet seats, we vacuumed and dusted our floors only to find that they had splattered paint on our couch,stairs, some artwork, and an entire rack of shoes. They gave us a few hundred dollars off the original $8000 quote for the shoes and for dropping the ball on the entire project, but never asked for the value of the shoes to begin with and barely offered an apology for ruining so many personal items in our home.           More touch ups needed to be done after all of this so they once again sent people out to our home to fix the initial mistakes that had occurred. They used the wrong paint on the touch ups and so half of our cabinets didn't match the initial gloss. They eventually fixed that problem as well but still left some spots on our kitchen cabinets that don't match and at this point we have given up on trying to get them to fix it. I would never recommend CertaPro Painters to anyone and can only laugh at this point with the absurdity of this incredibly unprofessional business. read more

They did a great job painting my house. The main painter (Eric) was a no show the first day and last the day after. He finally completed painting the exterior of my house on the second week. He was supposed to come back and replace wood and paint my back door. After 3 weeks he is still a no show. He life all his trash and paint cans on the front porch of my house. I had three bids and Matt with CertaPro was the lowest. I had a large job with about 3500 sqft of house to be painted on the interior. This included walls, all doors and all trim. On the first day two guys showed up along with the Production Associate. I asked how many others were coming. I was told just these two guys. I was very concerned but after the first day I was so amazed and super happy how this team worked. Jesus and Louis were exceptional! They worked so efficiently and great pride in their painting skills. It took these two great painters 6 days to complete the job including some outside painting. I had no punch list when they finished. Jesus and Louis cleaned up after every day and made it workable to live in my home while they were painting. I am the president of an HOA in south Austin with 43 stand alone units in the community. We needed to get our common area fences power washed and re-stained. We received bids from 3 local contractors. CertaPro was not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive, but they had the best online reviews so we chose them. They exceeded every one of my expectations. The met with me on site to go over the scope of the project and make sure that they identified exactly what work we needed done. They started the project on the day they said they would start, they communicated with me throughout the days they were working so I was aware of their progress, they finished all of the work ahead of schedule and our final invoice was exactly what they quoted us even though we made a few minor changes during the project. We will have future projects like this when we need to conduct maintenance projects throughout our community and we will only use CertaPro going forward.
